THESE WORK FANTASTIC! You must, however learn how to use them properly. This includes the degree to which the coffee is gound, how much/tightly it is packed into the pod, etc. Once you have mastered this (only takes a couple trial and error)- you will find that the coffee you make in the pods is 10000x better than that total cr** that is in the manufactured nesspresso ones. So PLEASE, give this a shot and a few tries if the coffee isn't to your liking at first. It is a WORLD of difference in quality and taste at a fraction of the cost, while also having the added benefit of selection and ethics (because.. fyi nestle is pure evil!) I included a video of this product, so one can see by the color of the coffee that it is perfectly matched to the nespresso pods. I don't normally go through such efforts as to including a video for a review, however this product not only deserves high praise and an accurate review, but it becomes especially important once the dark realities of the nestle company are learned. ( I will not go into detail about nestle it in this review, however suffice it to say that Nestle (R) will not ever again get a dime from me.) As consumers, we vote with our dollar. As we learn new things (for example human rights abuses and child exploitation), we can't simply turn a blind eye. Fortunately, you needn't need to throw away the previously purchased Nespresso virtuo machine- (cause let's face it.. the product is amazing) once you have added nestle to your boycott list. I have been reusing my old nespresso pods for MONTHS over and over and they still hold up great. HOW TO MAKE THEM WORK TO TASTE PERFECTION: 1. Pick a good coffee. I am a total fan now of Trader Joes Guatemalan Dark Organic and Certified Fair Trade for the machine/pods. I never favor a dark roast like this for a drip machine, however found switching to dark for the Nespresso really works at a great balance with the froth from the machine. It's superb. 2.GRIND is Everything! I had lots of trial and error when learning to what consistency the coffee needs to be. If you still have an old Nespresso pod that is unemptied, look at it while dry to find the perfect grind. Do not over grind the beans too fine as the coffee will come out diluted. Same goes for should you not grind them enough. If you have your own grinder, mess with what works a bit. I set mine in-between espresso and drip (closer to espresso but not full espresso nor super fine/French press). 3. Pack them appropriately. Again, balance is key and trial and error reaches mastery. You want it full and pressed, but not super pressed like you would pack an actual espresso machine. 4. Learn about nestle, the importance of only purchasing fair-trade always, and reducing waste by reusing every instance you can. 5. Buy something fun (and ethical) with all the money you save from not buying from nespresso. I love my nespresso machine, but if you haven't yet purchased one yet- I recommend looking into other options that aren't nestle. ;) There are some other good ones out there too. We’ve tried these stickers with our Nespresso machine and they just work fine. A great replacement to the original where you can reuse your pods to brew your own coffee. We loved them so much because of their perfect fit and ease of application, we placed another order when we ran out. I’m sure we’ll continue to order these as long as we still own the vertuo coffee machine. Their size is slightly bigger than the diameter of the pods making them easy to apply, with a slight tuck, you’re good to go in no time. Best part you enjoy your favorite coffee. Highly recommended!

These were such a pleasant surprise! We were from feeling very frustrated with Nespresso and their rude boutique employees and we no longer wanted to be dependent on them, plus we wanted to try different coffees. It seems there are a lot of third party capsules for original line Nespresso but not many options for vertuoline. For full disclosure we actually bought a used original line machine and tested it out with many third party capsules and were very disappointed with both coffee and capsules. We had almost given up when we tried this with the La Llave coffee that comes vaccuum packed. It's super cheap and as good as the Diavolito which is our favorite. We found the others too weak. We first tried the stainless steel reusable and it worked but it's hard to reopen and the machine seems to have trouble with the heavy capsule. So we read all of the reviews and found many tips here, so thanks everyone! We found that the Diavolito capsules make the strongest cup. We also used the trick with the soda can to fill our all capsules more efficiently and it's a great system. Even if you do not get the aluminum lid on perfectly it seems to hold on and the company has told me that it is food grade glue on the lids. They hold up quite well. The only think I would change is if they could add maybe four little markers to the edge of the lids to make them easier to line up perfectly or maybe develop something like the can idea that helps users line it up. with markers on the lid? In any case we are very pleased and will continue to buy.

I had high expectations due to the positive reviews, and was also expecting it to possibly fail in a miserable mess due to the negative reviews, and hoped I would just get lucky and didn’t get a bad batch. Overall results? 3.5 stars which rounds up to 4 stars. It was easy to assemble, using the mini muffin tin trick for mass filling and save me a few bucks not buying the full kit. Luckily it didn’t tear more than the puncture like some negative reviews. Unfortunately the grounds were able to escape into the machine, and I felt like I was able to taste a little in my coffee, though no more than that of a French press. I think this is due to the material only being aluminum foil (instead of the retail having a mix of plastic in the foil that keeps it liquid right around the needles). But not spending $1.10 per pod is the tradeoff. The next thing I’ll keep an eye on is if the glue sticks. Some of the lids I read the adhesive come undone when stored tilted downwards sideways in a pull-out tray. So will update on that after a few weeks. I plan to only make enough for 1-2 weeks at a time.

I'm not sure what all the fuss is about in some reviews. These are super easy to use. All you have to do is get something to set your caps in to load them. I finger press on around the edges adding only slight pressure toward the inside edge of the cap. I see no need to apply a super hard press on the inside edge, just a little will do and around the outside I squeeze on nicely. Before putting on caps I use a softly pointed object to lightly (very lightly...easy to puncture) emboss a letter identifying the type of drink. My machine makes 1.35oz shot, 2.7 double shot, 5oz gran longo, 7.7 coffee, 14oz coffee. The vertuo barcodes may cause certain variations in preparation outside of the 5 sizes, as mentioned by other reviewers. But I just treat the sizes as equal products. S - single espresso, D - double espresso, G gran longo,C - coffee, T - 14oz coffee. Also...espresso single shots can just fit about 5 grams, doubles and gran longos 10, the coffee capsules will hold only about 12 because of the larger grind required. The recaps brand seems to be the way to go. I see no reason to try any other methods. These work great. I dont wash my capsules. I just take 6-8 at a time and submerge in boiling water. There is no oily residue after that. Let them dry. This is absolutely easy as pie. 10cent recap plus 10-20 cents of freshly ground coffee of choice. Delicious. And making ten at a time its convenient, in my opinion. Hopefully the recaps will get even cheaper as well. 3-5 cents would be great.

If you start with a clean pod, these will stick perfectly. Once in place, I like to run my thumbnail carefully around the rim of the pod to make sure it's fully stuck down. Grind size is critical, as is overall volume of contents. I disassembled a good pod to sample grind size, and on the 230ml capsule, the contents weighed 13.06 grams. So that's what I load in and am having zero problems. One thing to keep in mind, the little tab on the foil should not cover the barcode on bottom of pod, or it can cause a malfunction. So simply bend it upwards so it rests on top of the pod. A great product that lets me use my own fresh custom roast and save money all at the same time. A win win!

I got a Nespresso vertuo and after much research, decided that Nestle wouldn't be getting a dime from me for their "special" pods. I watched a few YouTube videos and read many Amazon reviews, and decided to order these. I'm so glad I did. They work like a charm. I've never experienced a pod exploding like a few have mentioned and my coffee is turning out great. Actually even more AMAZING since I'm able to put in my locally roasted blends, freshly ground and packed in by yours truly, rather than the overpriced crap they sell that sits on shelves for months. I'm a self proclaimed coffee snob from Seattle, and was on the fence about Nespresso. But with two toddlers and needing something simple yet to to my standards in the morning, I decided to go for it and now I have the best of both worlds: ease (and speed) of use and excellent quality cup of coffee. I still may or may not take a ferry ride just to acquire said coffee from the roaster of my choice, but re caps has made the rest of the process quick and easy!

I have tried several different brands. Out of the ones I have tried these are the lesser of evils. The pro is that the material is thick enough that the top remains fairly intact. The other ones I have tried would have huge tears after use. This is the only benefit of this over the others available on Amazon. The biggest downside is that many times the adhesive separates from the rim of the pod resulting in coffee shooting out of the pod and all over the inside of the machine. You can see the separation in my second picture. I have contacted the company and tried their suggestions (coarser grinding, less coffee, brushing the margins to remove any grounds, etc) none of which help. I purchased their filling kit which did not make a difference. You have to get the cover in an exact positon perfectly centered and use some sort of tool to apply pressure to the rim to ensure the adhesive is securely attached. If the cap is not perfectly centered or if enough pressure was not applied to secure the cover it will separate and waste your coffee and make a mess of your coffee machine.

I am a multiple cup of coffee per day kinda person, so using 3 Vertuo capsules a day adds up. My partner only drinks decaf and therefore found the Nespresso options limited (there is only 1 full cup decaf option). This is an easy an inexpensive way to make your own coffee with the Nespresso Vertuo coffee machines. To use: - take a sharp knife to cute the foil off a used genuine Vertuo capsule - dump out used coffee grinds and give it a quick rinse - fill capsule with new ground coffee (I have found finely ground coffee has tasted best) - peel off foil from paper and stick on capsule - pop the capsule in the machine and you are ready to brew! The same capsule can be used multiple times and the foil lid easily peels off after each use. The better the grinds are, the better the coffee taste. It has been great to try with different flavoured coffees and decaf options. The coffee brews with a nice layer of crema, just like the genuine coffee! The lids can be used on all the different Vertuo capsule sizes (espresso, double espresso, alto, etc).

Foil lids work well when using empty Vertuo pods with my own coffee.Perfect size to hold firm on edges,and did not interfere with barcode,taste or strength.I have an older model Vertuo machine which may make the barcode reader less sensitive.Quick shipment.Also have found some other brands have too much overhang but these were spot on.
