Lily Of The Desert Natural Hold Aloe Vera Hair Spray
Wow! I'm impressed! I've been using Suave Unscented Extra Hold hair spray from Walmart for literally years. However, I finally put 2 and 2 together & realized my itchy scalp and dull hair was due to the HAIRSPRAY! One day I washed my hair as usual, then did NOT use the Suave hairspray, and voila! No itchy scalp and the natural shine in my hair was back! That is when I stopped using Suave and started researching for a new hair spray. I am 76 years young, I have fine but thick short wavy hair, so I was looking for an unscented hairspray that would let the natural shine show through and that was not loaded with a zillion chemicals, dyes, etc. etc. I've always had sensitive skin, and have used unscented aloe vera products successfully. So I decided to try this hairspray as it contains only 7 ingredients, no chemicals, no dyes, and the real aloe vera. It arrived very well packaged and on time. The online AI bot said that only a few spritzes are needed. So, I washed & towel dried my hair, combed it the way I like, then sprayed a spritz on top, in back, & on each side and let it dry. Lo and behold, the shine was there and no caking or sticking or itching! It held all day in place. The next morning, I brushed my hair, ran cold water over my hands, ran my wet fingers thru my hair & styled. No need to add any more spritzes; just let it dry naturally; no need to touch up. The next day, same routine, with maybe a few spritzes if needed here or there. This product works as advertised, and I'm so happy I finally found something that works for me. No itchy scalp; no caking; no sticky glue; can run my fingers and brush through my hair easily every night. I think this product is well worth the price and, by the way, I paid as much for the cheap Suave hairspray that held my hair like cement! Anyway, I give this product 5 stars and the shipper 5 stars for how well the product was packaged. Thank you ever so much!

Happy User
I have asthma and have always worried about using store bought pump hairspray because of the VOC's and held my breath with the bathroom fan on to minimize my exposure as much as possible. The alcohol and other horrible chemicals are really unhealthy to breathe in. I found this spray and I have to say, why I didn't find this product sooner is beyond me. It's so much clearer and cleaner to use! No harsh fumes at all, no perfume or strong chemical smell and it holds my hair really well. I use this on my dry hair and I am so pleased, that I will definitely keep buying it. I feel this is a much healthier choice and I am not nervous using it. Very nice product!

The more you know!
This product is great for what I’m looking for! I’m glad I found it. It’s a little pricey, but I don’t use much, so this will last me a long time. In my pursuit to find healthy hairspray, I came across this brand, and so far I’m liking it. Research still in progress on the rest of the ingredients, so for now, I’ll continue buying it until such time I find a better brand with even less chemicals than this has. Alcohol donat is the chemical I want to stay away from because it’s nothing but micro plastics, and of course they don’t tell you this, but it goes right into your skin, straight into your bloodstream, crosses the blood brain barrier, straight to your brain as well as other places. It goes everywhere! And, if that isn’t bad enough—it also ruins your hair, making it brittle and dry, like hay! Just a little tidbit that these big companies don’t want you to know! There should be lawsuits, and hopefully one day there will be, but for now, I don’t think a lot of women realize just how bad these chemicals and perfumes are on the over-all human body, let alone our hair. Almost every hairspray on the market has it, and it, along with all the other chemicals they poison us with, these chemicals have no business being in hairspray, or anything we consume or wear! Out of all the hundreds of brands of hairsprays, I’ve only been able to find two brands that Walmart carries that make a hairspray solution with zero alcohol donat in it. Pantene, and Treseme. So I’m giving this product 5 stars for now. It doesn’t have any hormone disrupting perfumes or smells (i’m not sure about the other chemicals it carries because I haven’t gotten that far yet, but I will update on my findings). I can’t tolerate perfumes or any strong smells anymore, and I get so sick when women who have doused themselves in all kinds of perfumes, lotions, hairsprays, etc…walk by, (they didn’t receive the memo) and their “strong perfumes, scented lotions” and all the other scents they packed on that day, are strong enough to choke a donkey. It’s really quite sad because they don’t even realize what they’re doing to their health when they bathe themselves in those chemicals. However, there is always a bright side to things. People are starting to wake up from the fog, are becoming more health conscious of what they actually put in, and on their bodies. You can always tell which one of them are just saturated with toxins, heavy metals, and hormone disruptors, because you can smell them from 3 miles away. It’s very sad. Some people may not like using perfume free, chemical free hairsprays (and that’s everybody’s own prerogative) but those fancy smells, perfumes, and chemicals are exactly what’s making you sick, so always be conscious of the ingredients list and what you’re putting on and in your body. It really does matter! Adios!

Good hold, sprays on wet.
I’d like if the sprayer didn’t spray so wide, quite a bit gets on my neck and floor, and then it’s sticky when it dries. It does spray onto the hair pretty wet like, but just don’t mess with it and it dries in a few minutes. So my biggest complaint is the sprayer sprays too wide. Other than that it works great for me. It’s hard to find a no alcohol hairspray at a reasonable price that actually works, and I feel that this one meets my needs.

Terrible product on every level
What a terrible disappointment! I was a long-time user of the previous formulation of Lily of the Desert Aloe 80 Styling Spray. I never used it has hair spray, but my fine, thin hair was boosted significantly by spraying this product on damp hair, drying and then styling. Since there was literally nothing else on the market that provided such excellent support without fragrance, I got a sinking feeling when I went to order my next batch and found that the product was being discontinued. I stocked up on enough to last me for a while, then went on a hunt for something, anything to take it's place. There isn't anything. Then I saw the ad for this product, new bottle, same name, oh happy day! But when I used it for the first time, it had this funky, sour smell that lingered unpleasantly even after my hair was dry, a huge contrast to the fresh aloe smell of the old product. And when my hair was dry, it was as soft and limp as before I sprayed anything on it. Two strikes. Bad smell, no body. I tried to figure out why a company would discontinue a great product, then reengineer it to make it worse. I suspect the cost cutting scenario listed in the review below is likely, but STILL! Who would want it? Why go to the trouble of creating a product that doesn't work an ANY level? Charge us more for the quality, don't give us a lousy substitute under the same name. Seriously! Amazon has been great, issued a refund...thanks, guys...but Lily of the Desert has made a serious misstep.

Good but still has Phenoxyethanol
This product works well, but is not as eco-friendly as they might like you to think. It has Phenoxyethanol (which is on the bottle, but they conveniently left it out of the ingredient description on Amazon). I like the fact that it works decently well and is unscented, so until I can find an even ‘more’ eco-friendly product that works I’m stuck with this.

LOVE this product!
Now that I’ve been using this product for a few days, I’m updating my review and I give it 5 stars. It doesn’t have a sickly perfume stench like most of the big name, drug store brands do, and it works quite well. I use it as a hair spray (after drying) rather than as a styling spray (which would be sprayed on wet hair). It holds very well even though I have fine, straight hair, which is hard to hold. It has a very mild, plant-like smell because of the natural ingredients, and I am very, very happy with this spray. At first, the sprayer created a sort of droplet-like spray, but after a few sprays, it’s working well now. YES, I will buy this again. Big thank you to this company for creating a spray with more natural ingredients. It’s actually quite miraculous, in my opinion.

Recommend this alcohol free hairspray!
This hair products works well especially on people with dermatitis. It’s light weight, dries fast & doesn’t dry out your hair & doesn’t cause an itchy scalp.

Form hold yet easy to brush out
This product is amazing! I have many fly-aways and this spray holds them firmly down for long and yet it's so easy to brush out.

great hairspray
Love this product. Have used it for years as I can use no other hair products, as I am allergic to the fragrance and alcohol in them. This is very safe for me to use. You can spray it on damp hair and let dry naturally and it looks great. You can also spray on damp hair and then use a hairdryer, and then use it as a finishing spray. I find if you lift up a piece of hair, spray lightly and not too closely, then hold for a few seconds before letting the hair back down it has a chance to keep the shape and works better. Highly recommend this product.
