Works even better than the Mason Top Pickle Pipes.
I have now done a large number of ferments and kimchi. I was surprised how well these worked. The fact I didn't have to use metal rings and Mason Top Pickle Pipes, helped because it decreased the height I needed-both where I put my qt jars to ferment (in my dehydrator without shelves), but also in my refrigerator when the ferment is done. Also having one thing to take out/off of the jar instead of 2 is also great. Mind you Mason top pickle pipe tops are the best I had found for many years until these, and because they also come in small mouth jars- I still use them when I need to use the small mouth jars. These Silicone fermenting lids worked really well. I had none of the problems I saw in a few of the comments. I think it's important to leave enough air space at the top of the jar-like 2 inches below the jar rim, then I think it's almost leak proof as it ferments. Nice to have different colors, I use the pink ones for Kimchi, although I haven't seen any of the red from the Korean red pepper staining them at all. I use the green ones for refrigerator pickles and they are great for daily use of the pickles- easy to remove and put back in, and they keep the pickles fresh without metal rings and tops rusting anymore. The silicone is really sturdy-it's been holding up with daily use for some items. All in all, great value and use with all my ferments and fridge pickles. The only wish I have, is that they made these for small mouth jars as well as wide mouth jars.

Works great!
Bought these as they were one of the ones recommended by a fermenting pro as being safe and easy to use. Make sure you read the instructions on the box for using them though. I automatically assumed that they 'auto-vent' when the pressure builds up. Discovered one morning that the kimchi I had fermenting had lifted the lid and there was kimchi juice all over the table. Must have been quite a show! THEN I read the box and realized that you are supposed to press down on the middle of the lid once the fermenting starts once or twice a day (or whenever you see it starting to bulge) and THAT is what releases the gases. Lesson learned. But sure proved to me that these lids seal on the jars pretty darn well! Very happy with them.

Work great.
These venting lids work just fine and are easy to use and clean. Then I found out fermented foods have high tyramine and happen to make me sick (joint pain and migraines)!!!. Who knew?! But for you who tolerate fermenting and the high tyramine, these are great! The vegetables I fermented were fantastic! And SO easy to make. I used glass weights to keep the veggies below the brine line. Wish I could eat fermented foods …such is life! LOL
