My great-great-nephew loved it! He was mesmerized by the colors. kept him entertained for a long time! The metal is durable but no sharp edges. A nice addition to his Easter basket. Well worth the price which was reasonable to begin with.

Got these for the 4 grandkids (3, 6, 9, 10) at a recent family gathering. Also brought balsa wood gliders, bubble wands, plastic slinky's, magnetic form builders, linkable glow sticks, and chinese finger traps. The goal was to keeps the kids entertained and busy without them all retreating into individual phone screens. Al old school toys, or as close as Amazon comes. In this situation, the kaleidoscopes weren't a top draw. The kids used them but then abandoned them for other toys. OTOH, they were durable, no damage or disassembly and each took one home for later maybe play.

The toy is great. A few generations of adults have a good memory of it. The problem is not with this toy. In my time, it was very popular and amazing, but these days are gone, and kids have many advanced toys around, so in the modern world, kids have little interest in this kind of old-fashioned entertainment. My 4-year-old grandson has been interested in it for a few minutes, but his grandma can use it :))

The colors are pretty and will do so I won’t return. I’m sad there is no sign of animals or sea life at least to an adult. I can’t imagine even a 5 year old won’t see. I’d say buy a less expensive version if the animals were your goal.
