yes, pony beads are with 4mm large hole, big enough for most shoelaces, very easy to thread

The hole is 4 mm. So yes you can use it with a pipe cleaner but it would be very loose. I’m using them in a crochet project. For a pipe cleaner I use tri beads or a size 6 or 8 mm faceted bead. Hope this answers your question.
