Love this Crimper!
Ok, Like many of you I have been using those cheap thin metal striper/crimpers that come in every electrical "kit" you ever buy. You can also buy those in stores and are fairly inexpensive, sometimes downright cheap. And to use them to crimp anything means hurting your hand from the pressure and that crappy thin metal. On to this tool and set: I paid $54.99 for this item and at time of review some 10 months later it is $49.99. That seems excessive or expensive however you know the old saying, you get what you pay for. Here you get so much more. It this set you get the crimping tool and 9 sets of dies. It says 9ps because die A is installed on the tool during arrival. The case it comes in is fairly cheap plastic but is more than enough for what you need. However I think the snaps that close it are poor. They are the standard molded on snaps that come with most things that wear over time and break and since they are molded on you cannot replace them. That's really the only con to this set. I opted for this set and not the one that comes with a screw driver because who doesn't already have a screwdriver in their tool kit? Anyways, the Tool feels great in the hand is VERY confrontable. The handle is molded plastic with rubber grips. Crimping pressure (how far down it crimps) is adjustable. The crimper uses a ratchet method so you don't accidently slip. This also lets you increase hand pressure a little at a time which is wonderful. When you hit the full crimp pressure the tool automatically unlocks releasing pressure. If in the event you cannot get full pressure to release there is a bar latch in-between the handles you can use to release the ratchet tension. The dies that it comes with are very wide for an even and professional crimp every time. Those cheap crimpers you get other places only crimp in a tiny spot which means sometimes you have to crimp then connector twice or more! Not with this tool, once and done! Changing dies is extremely easy. Just use a Philipps head screwdriver to remove two screws, one on the top die and one on the bottom. then change dies and replace screws. in the event you lose a screw, this set comes with two EXTRA screws! How awesome is that? This set also comes with almost every die you will need. I mostly use Insulated connecters so I mainly use die A but sometimes use others. I thought I'd never use the Solar connector Die but just recently actually used it and it worked wonderfully! Incase you forget what die is used for what, this little kit comes with a card with pictures of every die and the types of connecters each die is used for and wire sizes. that is EXTREAMLY helpful. The dies are each labeled A,B,C, ext. Also the case which holds the dies is also labeled in each slot for A,B,C, ext. So there is no confusing where each die goes or what they are used for. In conclusion, this set is well worth the money paid for it and is extremely helpful and comfortable to use. Not only that but it gives a good solid professional crimp every time. I have used this set hundreds of times. I have also installed 2 stereos in 2 different cars using this set and it was such a great tool to use. It not only made the job easier but it also made the job more solid and reliable. So please do yourself a favor and get this set, you will not regret it!

Nice crimp tool. Really nice.
I'm a home user but wanted a tool that would do a nice solid crimp. My old crimp tool was one of those cheap things that comes in kits, even decades ago. They were cheap and flimsy. Anyway, I bought both the 5 and 6 piece kits. I needed the 5 piece for the larger yellow connectors for 10 and 12 gauge wires. So far I've only used the tool from the 5 piece kit but they seem to be the same but with different jaws. I needed to crimp several 12 gauge wires and a couple 16 gauge wires. Both ended up with nice crimps. It crimps both the electrical and mechanical in one operation. I tried pretty hard to pull the wire out of the connector and it wouldn't budge. I left the adjustment like it was from the factory. I figure it would at least be a good starting point. I used a couple older and thinner yellow connectors and some newer more heavy ones. It did a nice crimp on them both. I was going to take pictures but I forgot to take them before I put the heat shrink on. The next time I crimp some, I'll try to take pictures and update this review. The one thing I find odd, I think they put the foam in the little case backwards. Given the way the case closing snaps work, I have to turn it upside down before opening the case. It's so odd, I put a sticker on the top so I don't open it the wrong way. The foam is tight enough that nothing falls out but I figure with time, it will loosen a bit and things could fall out. May as well mark the top so I open it the right way. I was going to try to remove the foam inserts but they appear to be glued in pretty well. I don't want to tear them up when all I have to do is flip it to make it work. It could be they intended it to work this way but it appears weird to me.

Useful crimpers! Sort of work good.
These worked great for a few uses. They are still usable but I'm having issues with the latch holding the right crimp slide down. I gave four stars because these are very useful if you do alot of crimping and they do work. Just a pain when you get everything lined up and that slide comes loose.

Perfect one tool for multiple crimping.
Why did I wait so long to get a proper tool? This tool is perfect. Easy to operate and release of it gets stuck or you just need to "reset" the crimping. Changing it the different crimping blades are fast and easy to accomplish allowing one tool to get the job done while working with different connections/crimping style needs.

Hard To Use On Large Gauge
After a lot of comparison shopping, I settled on this set. The quality looked good and the packaging was nice. (The wire stripper that was included was really of no value to me since I use an automatic stripper.) I had finally gotten a chance to use this tool. I liked that it came in a set with lots of crimping jaws. They cover just about anything a person could do with wire end connectors. The jaws are easy to change, and work very well. It came with good picture instructions, and careful inspection of the pictures helps the user find the right jaw set for the right connector. My first use was with 8 AWG wire with a ring connector. I found that it was somewhat difficult if you do not have above average hand strength. Longer handles would have worked well. Also, ratcheting does not create leverage, but rather holds the jaws closed. If one wishes to open the tool when it does not close to the point of release, the user can be stuck. By squeezing it with two hands and having another person press the release lever forward, we were finally able to open the jaws. I believe this tool needs handles which slide out to extend for more leverage.
