Heavy Artillery

wonderful jazz-not a jam but carefully worked out lines at sometimes crazy tempos. bass and drums perfectly balanced to support the guitars with a swinging background. Certainly many great players around but there is only one Howard Alden as this collection clearly shows. Andy Brown whose trio Howard joins for this cd has the chops to keep up with Howard, the result is guitar jazz at the highest level.

howard's always been a favorite of mine since his early days with concord jazz . met him at the 95 concord jazz festival and have an extensive collection of his mustc . never miss a howard alden gig , even his sideman sit ins wtth the arbors gang

they play great !

I enjoyed Andy Brown's "Trio and Solo" very much so this was a no-brainer for me. Howard Alden is also a very accomplished musician so his involvement just adds to the quality of this album.

I liked it, but expected more. . .
