After reading about this product in Consumer Reports, the price went up dramatically and I was very disappointed. I've had it in my cart for a little over a year. The company refused to provide any coupons when I reached out which tells me, similar to Sonos and unlike Dyson, this is a company of integrity that firmly stands behind the price and quality of their product. I'm very happy it was on sale for Prime Day because I finally purchased one! Well worth the wait! I was very disappointed in my Dyson filter so I recently repackaged and sold it on eBay. True story.The brown outer box arrived with some damage and I'll be honest - my expectations were very low. I thought this would be a cheap product of poor quality with likely dents and damages already due to poor packaging. To my surprise, the actual product box inside the tight brown box was unscathed. The unboxing experience was truly one to remember. The box had a clear beautiful design printed with product features and instructions. Inside, the product was perfectly tightly wrapped in plastic with further styrofoam protection. 3 layersguarded the product like it's the most valuable air filter you've ever purchased. It is and it truly operates as such. Easily slip on the beautiful elegant cover and the gorgeous design really pops. The top is a matte thick durable plastic featuring a glossy similar thick plastic around the sides. The smell of new like a brand new car is very pleasing to my nostrils. The clips easily open to lift the top. The filter is very high quality construction and my favorite part must be the large curved fan blades inside. On high, the filter literally pushes colder air than my air conditioner from the top and the noise is a very low soft soothing white noise sound. I can feel the air being pulled in from the bathroom!This product is remarkable. I've noticed the room smells better walking in from other rooms and it's easier to breathe. I’ve been using this BLUEAIR air purifier for a while, and I’m very happy with it. It noticeably improves the air quality, especially after cooking or on days with higher pollen levels. The unit is quiet, even on higher settings, and the sleep mode is almost silent. It was easy to set up, and the design looks clean and modern. Overall, it’s an effective and reliable air purifier for a large room. Highly recommended.

This is a review of the 211+ (not auto) product.I purchased this to take the place of a Winix 5500-2 that I moved to a smaller room. I did a fair amount of research before deciding on this model. I wanted something under $300 that could filter a larger room. Consumer reports and the Wirecutter both rating this model very highly (in the case of CR this model was only beat out by the Blueair Classic 6XX model and that one goes for nearly $800 right now and is only somewhat more powerful.The unit is very simple. It’s a large fan in an attractive white housing with a slightly larger white plastic base that houses the main filters inside. There are two different colors of the washable external cloth filter in the box. You can use whichever one you prefer. My unit had a reasonably bright blue one and a dark gray one. It’s nice that they give you 2 of them. They only give you one of the large internal filters.The power cord is attached to the back of the unit, so if you break it or a pet chews the cord, the whole unit will have to be replaced. That’s a shame.The unit itself is made mostly of plastic, which makes it light and easy to move, but it won’t stand up to abuse. If your kid sits on this, it will break.I find the size to be good. It’s not really enormous, as some large room purifiers are, but it will take up more floor space than the Winix 5500-2 (but it isn’t as tall).The unit pulls air from all 4 sides, so you can’t stick this right up against a wall if you want the best performance. The clean air comes out the top of the unit.As for the sound at full power, a noise meter registers 64 dB right at the top of the unit wheee the air comes out. To put this into perspective, my Winix 5500-2 registers 74 dB at the air release when it is also on full power. The Blueair’s sound is noticeable, but it is very even and is decent white noise at top speed. I haven’t had a problem falling asleep near it. The Winix can be annoying at full speed.At the lowest speed for both the Blueair and Winix, they register at 42 dB measured from the same spot as before. You’ll have a hard time hearing them at this level unless the room is really quiet.The Blueair really moves air well. At top speed, you can feel the air moving in all parts of the room. It will make the room feel a bit cooler. It is noticeably better than the Winix 5500-2 in this regard.Controls: there’s one button. You tap (not press) it to control fan speed or turn the unit off. The top rim of the button lights up with a pretty bright white light to let you know the fan speed.The one thing I miss with the Blueair 211+ is there is no automatic mode. The Winix 5500-2 offers this and kicks the unit into higher gear if air quality is poor. It’s not a deal breaker, but I do appreciate the feature so you can save money but still have very clean air. There is a newer version of this Blueair that does offer automatic mode with air quality sensing. If you want that go with the 211+ Auto model. The price difference wasn’t worth upgrading, but you might catch it on sale.The Blueair does not have a remote control like the Winix 5500-2, and that I definitely miss, especially without the automatic mode.The cost of replacement filters seems about the same as other popular air filters and they offer a wide variety of colors for the external filter.A word about putting on that external filter. It goes on like a sock, but in order to stay in place, you have to put the filter material over the top part of the bottom white plastic unit. This means the filter will cover the latching locations where the top part locks into the lower part. I find this makes the security of the latching not as good, but it works well enough to keep the two parts together.The Blueair is not very heavy and I find it easy to move (though you may want to move the two halves separately if you find it awkward).As for air quality, Consumer Reports seems to be correct. It has done wonders for reducing allergens and smells. It also does this without the trendy but potentially problematic negative ion generation that some other filters offer. I find this to be a pro for the Blueair. I don’t need more ozone in the room.I did not have any odd smells from this unit, even with my nose up close. Based on other reviews I may have gotten lucky or perhaps they’ve improved the production process.All-in-all, I find this a great unit for the price.

I set out to buy a new air purifier to replace one that is crazy noisy, even on the lowest setting. I hoped to find one that would be near-silent on the lowest setting. At a minimum, I wanted one quiet enough to easily forget about, and wouldn't make me turn up the TV volume. (more on that later)There are several that claim to be whisper-quiet on the low setting, so the purchase decision came down to other factors.I decided on the Blue Pure 211+ because I like the design from a functional standpoint. It draws air from all sides and passes through a box-like filter that has significantly more surface area than most other air purifiers. The washable pre-filter sock catches larger particles (dog hair in my case), which hopefully makes the hepa filter last longer. It also looks nice, which is important since I use it in the living room. It seems to hit the mark on all of these secondary factors.So what about my #1 requirement (noise)? Well, it's not as quiet as I had hoped, but MUCH, MUCH better than my old one. There are two distinct sounds: mechanical hum from the fan itself, and the sound of air rushing through the unit. On the low setting, the room has to be completely silent to hear the airflow, but the monotonous drone of the fan is definitely noticeable. On the medium setting, the rush of air drowns out the mechanical hum, so it's more of a white-noise. But that makes it loud enough that I would need to turn up the TV volume. The high setting is quite loud, but that's fine if you only need to use it on high once in a while.Other than that, there's the price. I mean give me a break, it's a box fan with a filter. Hard to see that being worth more than $100. Ok, it's a _pretty_ box fan with a filter. Maybe the aesthetics are worth an extra $50. But this costs $300.Overall, it's a good air purifier and I'll keep it, but I probably won't buy a second one for the other room. It's definitely overpriced and not as quiet as I had hoped.

Love this air purifier! It is not too big, looks nice and is quiet! It sits in our great room and looks nice! We have two cats that are horrific shearers! This machine certainly helps!

UPDATED - This model has a 2 year warranty - Blueair reached out to me and replaced the unit no questions asked! They shipped me a new unit and asked that I use the packaging to return the old unit to them. Original review: This air purifier worked fantastically for a year and 3 months; then a fan blade broke off. I reached out to Blueair twice (email and phone), this review is my third attempt. This model, Blueair Blue Pure 211+ work tremendously well. In fact, family and friends that have visited my home have gone out and purchased for their homes. The carbon filter needs to be replaced every 6 months and you can have that setup on auto delivery which is great. The unit alerts you with a light color change when it is time to change the carbon filter, but if you add it to your subscribe and save for delivery every 6 months you have two prompts. The filter change is easy peasy. The washable pre-filters lasted about a year and they were rotated and washed weekly. Even though the cost is higher than most, it worked so well and maintenance was so easy it was worth it. But now, with one of the fan blades breaking off, the unit is unusable. So, consider that when you purchase... it has lasted 1 year and 3 months, 2 carbon filter changes in that time and repurchase of the prefilters... all added up and was worth it to have no trace of pet odor, dust dramatically reduced and even reduced swiffer duster refill purchases, and quickly cleans the air of cooking odors. A side plus is the noise levels... On low it is barely audible... on high it serves as white noise and almost completely blocks the outside street traffic. The unit's only downfall is the fan's life span. Hoping to hear from Blueair soon to find out if this fan blade breakage is a common or known issue or if it is a fluke. All in all, this air purifier worked GREAT but its life span is makes it not worth the money. - Their customer service and 2 year warranty on top of how well it works makes this TOTALLY WORTH the money.

We have had a Panasonic HEPA unit for many, many years. But alas, we can no longer get the filters. So we purchased this unit after much investigation and comparison shopping. Having CR recommending this unit was the final straw in favor of this particular brand & model. Overall - we are really happy with the performance. Honestly, we read some of the negative reviews on Amazon and I am amazed at what people feel negative about. Some say the pre-filter clogs too quickly other say how loud this is. Really? You are upset that the pre-filter actually works and captures stuff before it gets to the HEPA? And the sound... on high it has significantly less volume than a 20" box fan; far less noisy. Less noise than a 12" oscillating fan. What do you expect from a fan?? Silence? Okay - enough ranting - hehe!Three fan speeds. Top speed is less noisy than a regular fan. Pre-filter is awesome at getting dog hairs, dust and dander before it can clog the HEPA. The HEPA and carbon do the rest of the work and what comes out the top of the stack is allergen free air. Works great. And I REALLY like the fact that the pre-filter catches most of the larger dust, hair and other stuff. This means that the HEPA has to do less work, will last longer and most importantly - save me money. Blueair - great idea regarding the pre-filter - thank you!The size of the 211+ is roughly the size of a gym bag or carry on suitcase. A bit larger than what I suspected but it is fine for the room size and the amount of air it is processing. Bottomline is that this is a great unit. Today is late October 2017 - if my opinion ever changes I will let you know.Cheers!

This review is for the two 211+ (not automatic) units I've had since 2020. Initially, I purchased these after the devastating wildfires in the Pacific Northwest when people were sealing off their windows with tape and using box fans with furnace filters on the back in a desperate attempt to remove the wildfire smoke that had infiltrated all our homes. And with three not-small dogs anyway, it just made sense.Five years in now, I can say that I have been EXTREMELY satisfied and impressed with both of my BlueAir 211+ air purifiers. The initial setup and subsequent maintenance is effortless. You take it out of the box, put it's little prefilter on the base, drop in the air filter, pop the top of the unit containing the fan back on, and forget about it for a while. I replace the filters about every 6-9 months, and wash the prefilter cover way less often than I should considering the amount of dust it very efficiently sucks up. With one in the living room and one in the main bedroom, I have both ends of my home more than covered, as with the two combined, they are rated to filter more square feet of air than the size of my house. I've literally had them both running *nonstop* for the ENTIRE five years I've had them, and haven't had a single problem with either of them. Once in a while I'll come home to find that during rambunctious play or a particularly assertive barkfest at a delivery person, a dog butt has grazed the power button on the one in my living room enough times to turn the unit off. Kept on low, the fan is incredibly quiet and barely perceptible if at all. The only reason I notice it's been turned off immediately when I come home because the living room smells noticeably different when the purifier hasn't been running; the air smells comparatively stale and decisively more like dog than when it's running. I also noticed and appreciated their impressive performance in 2022 when once again, my city was infiltrated by wildfire smoke from fires that were literally hundreds of miles away. The air quality outside was dangerously high, but inside my home, per my thermostat app, the air quality was normal. This was particularly impressive considering it was literally snowing ash outside, harkening back to the much closer terrifying fires of 2020 that nearly breached city limits. Having these in my home gives me piece of mind that I'm about as protected as I can be against airborne pollutants like smoke, dust, pet dander, and the occasional cooking-adventure-gone-awry. Eventually when these do stop "biting the dust" as it were, I'll gladly replace them with the newer model that has the power button on top and the ability to turn off the power indicator light, which I desperately wish my older model had for my bedroom unit.

Blue Pure 211+ Air Purifier is an amazing product! There’s almost zero assembly required. You unbox, put the washable outer filter on, you plug it in, and tap front button to turn on to start. Within 15 mins of it being on in my room, immediately I noticed how light and fresh the air is. There’s no unpleasant scent at all other than the new filter smell which doesn’t bother me. After 1 1/2 weeks of using it, this new filter smell is gone and it’s just fresh air. I love it. It gets rid of cooking smells too. I love cooking fresh fish often, and man, this purifier eliminates the odour within an hour compared to 3-4 days of lingering fish smell inside of the house. No more opening windows in the middle of winter just to air out odours. Noise Level is appropriate and can be tolerated. First level of air option is very quiet and almost no noise. Second level option you can hear the fan but sounds like a subtle white noise, Third level of air option, strong fan noise but man it’s very effective! Manoeuverability is easy. I like that the button to turn on the purifier is tap sensitive. The machine could use a nook for the hands on the sides for easier to move from one place to the other. There’s a warning label on top of the machine to carry the machine from the bottom when moving or carrying. The fan on top is connected to the filter at the bottom. There’s a locking mechanism between the two chambers, but I don’t feel it’s a sturdy lock and agrees that it’s safer to carry from the bottom and not from the sides of the machine. Weight is light for younger folks but I don’t recommend grand parents to carry the machine on their own. Overall, amazing air purifier!

My mans is a smoker. I am not. Our apartment smell was driving me NUTS. The smoke absorbed into everything. This air purifier was a life saver. I was ready to give it a try and return it, I didn't think it could actually remove smells. But wow this thing is great, well worth the money. It makes a very big difference. We leave it on high when we are out the house or if indoor smoking is happening, and on low the other times. You can barely hear anythign on low, but even on high it's not that bad but there is noise. If you are sensitive to smells I do reccomend this, the air in the apartment is really fresh and nice now

We purchased this air purifier because of wildfire smoke in B.C.We ordered this on July 30th as we expected wildfire smoke coming in the next week and this was going to arrive the soonest. However, the purifier took 2 weeks to get here due to multiple delays (on UPS's part). But it came just in time for more smoke to roll through.The setup was really easy. Just put the "sock" (pre-filter) on the bottom of the purifier, plug it in, and bam! Clean air is on the way.Our house layout is really open and doesn't have many doors but this air purifier seems to be doing just fine. With the claim that it can clean the air in a 540 square foot room 5 times in an hour that means that it can clean a 2700 square feet room at least 1 time an hour.The carbon filter is made out of coconut shells which gives it a nice coconut smell in the house (at first) but also tells you where the air has and hasn't been purified in the house.Now the fan is something else. I am currently sitting in my kitchen and it is running on high 15 feet away from me and I can barely hear it over my fridge. On low you can't hear it at all unless it's silent.The only thing that I would recommend you get if you buy this purifier would be a indoor air quality sensor as this machine doesn't have a air quality sensor built in.Overall 10/10 for the product, 5/10 on the shipping.
