Does this actually have emulsion on it because one customer said that it does not

Accepted Answer

The Photo Emulsion Sheet doesn't have emulsion on it, it is the emulsion itself. To use it, the sheet is laid on top of the screen and water is used to activate the emulsion and make it adhere; this needs to be done in a low light setting and the sheet protected until you're ready to expose it.

Question 2

Just clarifying: these are not the same as the ikon art stencil mesh? — i can’t immediately use my art on transparency film over these sheets?

Accepted Answer

No this is not related any kind of mesh product - this is literally a photo emulsion solution in fruit roll up form  haha- you adhere it to your screen mesh and allow it to dry. Then if you print your artwork onto transparency film you can lay that on top of the photo emulsion prepared screen; the opaque (blacked out) portions of your design will be protected from the light when you expose the screen. You treat it exactly the same way you treat a liquid emulsion prepared screen (with variables to exposure time depending on your light source - you'll need to test all that yourself) apply the emulsion, expose the design, wash out unexposed portions of the emulsion and you'll have your stencil.

Question 3

Do you have to have the screen stretched on a frame or can I use it without stretching the screen?

I've only seen it applied to stretched mesh - because it's floppy (think fruit roll-up) and you need to wet it down to apply it I think it would be very difficult to adhere it to any surface that was not stretched taut and smooth.

Question 4

Do the sheets turn from green to blue when they are burned?

Accepted Answer

Yes, they turn a matte Greyish Blue when burned.
