Bächlein Universal Double Outlet Tap for the Garden [Anthracite] incl. 2 Hose Connections - Noble Double Water Tap with 1/2 and 3/4 Inch Connection, Double Ball Outlet Valve

I was going to replace an old wheeled gate valve outdoor tap with a lever operated ball valve when I saw this double tap. I have often been presented with the dilemma of disconnecting the sprinkler just to fill a watering can - and here was the solution. The best of both worlds! It’s a straight forward swop - the kit even includes the PTFE tape and the final hose fittings. The tap feels very well made and both valves shut off very precisely. I might even get another for the tap on the other side of the house. The only drawback I can see is that Bachlein doesn’t make any kind of frost protection cover for it. So come winter, you just have to remember to turn off the isolating valve inside the house and open up this tap to drain it.

Decent quality, easy to fit, comes with fittings for both common tap connectors. Didn't use the included PTFE tape as had plenty of the proper stuff but it looks like it would do the job if needed despite being a little narrow. No drips, dealt with the cold snap and feels robust. Nice easy to use lever for the filler nozzle but would have preferred a longer lever for the hose outlet. Works perfectly fine however.

So much better than the very traditional washer-based screw tap it replaced. I had replaced the washer more than annually in my old garden tap and it was getting silly having to dismantle it so much and discover when it started leaking to know the old washer had failed! Whilst not so easy to fit perfectly (using plumbers tape to get it water tight and correctly oriented) once in place this has been great. No leaks, and by replacing the need for washers with a metal ball valve it makes the mechanism robust, as well as it being so much easier to go from zero to full pressure and back. The addition of an extra outlet so a hose can be in use and yet someone can still use the tap manually is an added bonus. Not a crazy bargain, but I felt the price was ok - reassuring for something that I hope should replace my old tap indefinitely. I’m sure the easy to use handle would also be of specific benefit to the elderly or anyone else with limited hand mobility.

Looks like good quality, and screwed easily into the mains pipe as a replacement. However it was upside down and could not be repositioned by changing the starting orientation as the thread only bites in one position. I will have to rotate the supply pipe; if I can.

Solid and practical. The tap does exactly what it’s supposed to — easy to install, fits securely, and allows me to run a hoses and free tap without issues. The build quality feels decent, and the valves operate smoothly. A good, no-fuss solution for garden watering. The water exits the free tap with force and splashes quite a bit, I attached a short length of hose to it to stop this and allow you to direct the water direction - avoids it going all over your feet and legs. Good value for money - no rusting so far after 2 years

First impressions were good, the tap looks well made, good value and the action of both tap heads were smooth in operation. Fitting was simple using the tape supplied also included an adapter for a larger outlet fitting. Once fitted the tap worked perfectly and the shut off valves worked well without any leaks. Overall I am hopeful for a long service period. The only problem I could find was the help line/ contact which was in German so an English translation would be helpful.

Even my plumber was impressed when I asked him to install these, they are just so superior to the traditional UK outdoor tap design.
