My dog loves this puzzle toy. I use it about once per week. I rotate my puzzle toys to keep them interesting. This one is by far his favorite. It’s fascinating to see him. Figure it out because it’s challenging. But my dog loves to figure out how to get to the treat and won’t quit until he does. It keeps him occupied and happy. I’ve read comments that the product wasn’t durable. I have not had that experience at all. When I first introduce him to a new toy, I make sure he knows it’s not for chewing and he eventually figures out what it is used for. He’s also kind of heavy-handed with his toys, but this one is in perfectly good shape and I’ve had it for sometime now.

My dog loves this puzzle. Be aware that the middle layer will only accept small treats - otherwise you can't slide the door closed. Overall a very durable and engaging toy.

I absolutely love the Outward Hound by Nina Ottosson Challenge Slider dog puzzle. I’ve had this since 2021, and it has held up incredibly well over the years. It’s been fantastic for both my dog and for entertaining guests. Watching him figure out the puzzle is fun for everyone. The design is sturdy and durable, and it has held up great with regular use. One thing I really appreciate is that it doesn’t squeak, and my dog hasn’t been able to chew it up like some other toys. It’s also really helpful for slowing down his eating. My dog tends to eat too fast, which isn’t great for him, so using this puzzle makes him work for the treats and naturally slows him down. He actually figured it out pretty quickly, and his little squishy face fits perfectly into the squares to get the treats out. The only minor issue I’ve had is that one of the small slider pieces detached once, but it was easy to pop back into place and hasn’t been a recurring problem. Overall, this has been a durable, fun, and enriching toy that we’ve gotten years of use out of. Definitely one of my favorite dog purchases.

OK, I should start by saying we don’t feed our dog her food in bowls — we either use Kongs or a puzzle like this one, because she is a very smart Goldendoodle and likes thinking for her food. While this puzzle is great in terms of color, quality, hiding places, etc., my dog figured it all out (even the tougher levels) the first day we used it. She still likes it, but it’s not challenging for her at all, it’s more of a “slow-feeder” type thing. It’s not the toy’s fault, but poodle and poodle mix owners should know that it isn’t really for very smart dogs.

Great Puzzle! My Australian shepherd needed a more challenge puzzle now. This one really helped sharpen her skills and learn new ones. It took her almost 2 weeks to get the hang of all the functions independently (without getting frustrated.) So it's 100% targeted towards a dog that already has puzzle solving skills. Now, she has fun popping the treats up in the air and catching them. A game I believe she made up, all on her own! This, like all the puzzles in the Outward Hound line, are made extremely well! They are durable and sturdy. They are fairly easy to clean. That being said, I only reccomend dry treats in them since washing them is more difficult than a food bowl or slow feeder mat would be. Id also like to comment on the drawers and levers. I wasn't sure my pup would be able to do them. But after her learning curve, she proved the design of this puzzle is totally within the abilities of a dog to manage. She can use every function and has learned which order she needs to open the compartment to get to the next one. Great value as it can be reused many times for years. Highly recommend!

This could be difficult for some dogs. My dog, border collie, loves these puzzles. I now have 3 . The bones on top, was the first, and it took her a long time to figure it out. The second puzzle, middle puzzle in picture, I found at a value village. She figured it out quicker than the first. The 3 puzzle that I just purchased, orange and green and looks like a tower, looked like it would be challenging for her. I filled it with her favorite treats and she figured it out fastest than the other two. She is now opening the treat filled boxes methodically.

Update: the Tower of Treats has now fallen! I adopted a now 14-year-old cat in 2025, and he was clearly intelligent, bored, and treat-oriented. So I started him off with a small cat puzzle, which he quickly mastered. And then I bought him a more complicated one, and several more. Then we started on the dog puzzles. He has figured out sliding tiles, opening compartments, lifting lids, pulling tabs, etc. Like an elephant, he never forgets. If I give him one of his old puzzles, he zips through it in less than 5 minutes (including treat eating time) and asks for a refill. And another, and another.... I thought the huge Challenge Slider puzzle would take him a while to figure out, but no, he finished it the first day I gave it to him. He did a few tiles at a time and kept coming back to do more later, so at least it kept him busy for a while, which was an improvement. After a few weeks he had this down to a one-shot treat gorging session, sliding the tiles this way and that with the skill of a teenage feline gamer. This puzzle had a nice feature: a tray for the treats that slides out from under the tiles, enabling me to see whether the cat has found them all, and making it easy to refill. I say "had" because I've learned not to continue with puzzles he has mastered. For the sake of his waistline I gave the puzzle to a fellow cat owner. Next up: the fiendish Tower of Treats. This one is on a different level. It starts at the top and each layer unlocks the next. Some of the plastic pieces are stiff, which slows him down, which is a good thing. I gave this puzzle to him before leaving on a two week trip, thinking it would give him something to do, and it certainly did. Eventually the neighbor cat feeder had to refill it daily. A month later this one still has some life in it. The fussy plastic pieces need to be clawed and jiggled, and it takes him time and effort. Which he willingly spends in sessions of about 15 minutes at a time, getting very excited every time the puzzle is refilled. Anyway, yes, all of these puzzles are suitable for cats who are so inclined. With each puzzle I bought, I was hoping this would be the puzzle to end them all, but no. This one is supposed to be the ultimate challenge, so I don't know what we're going to do next.

Our 5-month labrador is super Happy after he got to play with this. He was done quite fast but his behavior to play and how learned was impressive.

This educative puzzle game works great. The fact that the manipulative small cylinders ( where you put tiny pieces of food) cannot be removed, make this dog’s toy secure and durable. 3 levels of difficulty in one toy. My dog just likes it. When I place the game on the floor ready to give treats with good manipulations my dog comes around and starts to discover how to retrieve the treats.

Good quality build. Entertains my dog. It was her first puzzle and She figured it out pretty quick. It keeps her busy only a few minutes but she really likes it. My main trouble was initially finding treats that were small enough for the holes.

I was recently worried my pup was eating way too fast sometimes makung himself ill with eating so fast so thought I would give this a go and it's just incredible I could recommend enough! It's super tough and durable and keeps him busy for 20/15 min as he works out how to get to his food in each compartment. He also really enjoys it wagging his take as he scratches nuzzles and lickes his way to his food so much better than plonking it in a bowl it is worth every penny. I feed my Basil 50g per meal 3 x per day and this easily could hold 100g comfortably if required, get one I feel lucky to have found this, mine is the Advanced one with spinner section in the middle, I suggest you get this one it's more challenging but not too much 👍
