Got me thru a very dark winter.
I was surprised how this helped my mood and energy last winter. I sat with it in front of me (about 18 inches) for about 30 minutes while I had breakfast and read. The brightness settings are a nice option, but changing them didn't affect the results of my day. It's easy to take with you if going somewhere for a few days. Excellent quality.

Convenient & Effective
I choose this Happy light for the convenience of being able to move it around without a cord attached. It is a nice size that can fit just about anywhere. The angle of the light can also be adjusted in the base. It has been very helpful dealing with Seasonal depression. Its been a very rough winter here. I highly recommend any of the Verilux Happy Lights

Touch buttons are terrible
I love the lamp and it has worked to improve my ability to stay awake and reduced my SAD symptoms. However the quality is poor for the price. The main issue I’ve had is the touch buttons for the brightness and timer. They don’t work well. The instructions for the timer are a bit odd and even after following them exactly it still doesn’t work or take the correct timer value. The battery also only can last about 40 mins which is ok, but I was expecting longer. I exchanged my first lamp for a replacement assuming it was a quality control issue, but the new lamp is exactly the same. Sometimes the brightness or color settings will just start cycling through on its own several minutes into the session. Very frustrating. Put real buttons on the next model.

Light therapy = great. Too bad this one’s not so great.
Update: one month in and the light flickers at max brightness I got this because it’s one of the only battery powered lights and seemed like a convenient way to use light therapy in different rooms. Wrong. Even though it looks like they put time in the design, the usability is awful. Shockingly bad. 1) brightness and color are controlled with smooth touch buttons that you can’t feel so have fun fumbling around with those while getting blinded. Is also very easy to accidentally change those settings if you’re moving the light around. 2) if you take it off the stand you literally can’t stand it up because it’s a bowl shaped. You need to prop it up with a towel or something soft. Or use the stand that’s detachable for no reason. 3) so leave the stand on you say? That would make sense but in order to unplug the power you literally have to remove the stand. And where are you going to prop it up while you use two hands to remove the stand? Better have a towel ready or put it on the floor. Why does this have to be complicated? 4) “so what it’s a pain, surely the battery will last a few days!”Nope. It can go for hours at the lowest setting but at the highest (10k which is the minimal effective brightness for light therapy) it’ll only last 30 mins. So if you have any intention on using the light without a cord you will have to wrestle with the cord, stand, accidentally hitting buttons. every. single. At the end of the day, you might just leave it plugged in in the same spot to avoid the hassle. But you can do that with a light that’s a quarter the price. I’m not sure what’s more depressing, my winter blues or the fact that someone got paid to design this thing.

More than just a Happy Light
My friend suggested a seasonal light to me. I live in a very rainy climate during the winter months. We won’t see the sun for weeks. It wears on me every year. I’ve always pushed through that last month before the sun starts to come out again and the days start to get longer. She said her light helps with low energy and mood. Exactly what I needed. After lots of research I landed on the Verilux brand. Others had great reviews but I wanted something versatile to go with my lifestyle in the home. The Happy Light Halo checked all these boxes. -I am able to move it around room to room with ease. The cord free feature is awesome. -Share it with other family members in the house. -It is user friendly and very adjustable, the magnetic base design is awesome. -All the light settings are great and easy to use. -Doubles as a project light or a flashlight to look for things ;) The only feature that could use some tweaking is the timer. As far as my mood, it is still too early to tell but it definitely helps jump start my brain on the dark gray mornings. Hope this review helps someone trying to decide between the lights.

Seems to Work.
Nice, bright, functional, decent looking lamp. I only wish the battery lasted longer. I like the mobility and footprint.

Easy to use SAD light
The light seems well made and being cordless is very easy to use just about anywhere. At full brightness it lasts about 40 minutes before needing a recharge, which is more than enough. The touch controls are very sensitive but not really an issue once you get used to them. Recommended.

Help Yourself!
I bought this in February 2024 upon a recommendation from my PCP due to having SAD (seasonal affective disorder) and it is now March 2026 and it’s one of my best mental health tools I have! I started using it in January the last 2 years and it really helps to lighten the dark winter mornings. It’s not a cure to seasonal depression but it is a piece of the solution because of the way it helps to tell your body it’s time to wake up and get going! Follow it by a cold shower and wow you’ll really equip your body to start producing dopamine & epinephrine!

Good quality, various helpful options, rechargeable, but not very easy to use
The good: This is probably the only rechargeable SAD light on the market. It offers three different light temperatures and four brightness levels and has a timer that you can set between 10 and 60 minutes in 10 minute steps. The light is flicker-free and a good size to sit on a desk or breakfast table. Its ingenious magnetic base allows for flexible position adjustment. Good quality all round. The bad: the rechargeable battery only allows one or two sessions at medium brightness so you have to recharge it every time or use it on mains power. Connecting the charger is fiddly - you have to take the lamp off the base to connect it and then re-align the base to the charger socket. The charger has a US plug and no European adapter is supplied (but it will work on European voltage). Its cord is just under 2m long. The control buttons are on the back and are all touch activated and flush with the case. You can’t feel them and can only see them if you turn the unit round, and it’s too easy to change the settings by mistake when doing so. The timer button is not intuitive to use.

Disaster
It didn't work. It came without a UK plug. The American plug didn't fit. We obtained an American plug from elsewhere, but the light still doesn't work. It is law that items purchased must have the items with thew ability for the item to be used. Sending an American plug which can't be used here in not legal. Then there is the problem of sending it back, instead of it being collected and the money repaid.

Love It
Product is superb. Arrived a day early, the magnetic base is convenient, and all the light preference settings/times are perfect. Too soon for real results but so far find it very pleasant regardless.

Illegal charger
The charger is non-standard (usb-c socket but wrong voltage), and replacements are not available in the UK. Also if you accidentally use their charger with your phone or laptop it can fry the device. Not sure it’s even legal/CE compliant. The lamp itself works well initially and looks good, but misplace your charger and it’s a £100 paperweight.
