This is a review for the KOHLER 4636-RL-0 Cachet ReadyLatch Elongated Toilet Seat. The Good: Everything. The Bad: The instructions. The Ugly: Seriously, the instructions. The Kohler ReadyLatch toilet seat is a really nice piece of work. It features a slow, soft-closing lid and seat as well. The material is plastic, but it has a good thickness and feels very firm under me when I sit down. I'm 6'2" and 280lbs currently, and there's not even any flex from the seat as I sit down. *Very* sturdy, indeed. The color is a basic white, just like the porcelain on most toilets, so it matches just fine. I have to give props to their packaging. Before you even open the package, it shows you the measurements and warns you to double check and make sure it'll fit on your toilet (and that you didn't order the wrong shape for your toilet!). That being said, the only downside was the instructions - there really wasn't much of any. I've taken off and put on a lot of toilet seats in my time, and they're all pretty straight forward - pop the tab on the top, grab the nut on the underside, use a screw driver to unscrew the plastic bolt from the nut, repeat on the other side, and job's halfway done. Reverse it to install. No problem, right? Wrong! This Kohler had a rubber encased wing nut with a tube that flared out at the end into a flat donut. What...the...okay! Let's check instructions...uhhh...nope...okay, *sigh* let's ask the Internet. Bingo. After hunting around the first couple search results, I found a gentleman installing one - on YouTube. I had to sit through five minutes of someone talking about their toilet and the seat, how their seat had a crack in it, etc etc etc, until suddenly he shows me the secret! FOLD THE WINGNUT SIDEWAYS AGAINST THE TUBE, SLIP IT DOWN THROUGH THE BOLT HOLE ON THE TOILET!!! After that, the install was very simple and straight forward. Position the toilet seat over the two bolt holes (now with a rubber tube installed and a wing nut hanging down on the other side) and install the two bolts that come with the lid. Final Thoughts: I've been using it now for a bit, and I have to say - it's different from my other lids, but I really like the design, fit and the angle of it. It's comfortable, but not "sit on the pot and watch funny cat videos" comfortable. Overall, I'd say it's competitively priced, and well worth the money.

I’ve bought a couple of the Kohler replacement toilet seats, always an inexpensive functional and decorative upgrade. Soft close feature is wonderful. While heavy wood toilet seats feel sturdier, I don’t think they look as good, cost more and generally don’t have the soft close feature. Just about anyone can do the installation, simple. Certainly a reliable brand that knows a thing or two about toilets! Regards. Ned.

Bought this. Cause the wife wanted to have the seat come slow. The seat was easy to install and had good instructions. The seat is easy to remove so it could be cleaned and cleaned underneath it also. The material is good and it should last a long time.

Installed on a Kohler toilet. There are no written instructions. Watch BOTH installation videos here on Amazon to get the full picture. The first video makes it look like an easy drop-in, but it's as difficult as installing any other toilet seat. The two extra pieces not explained anywhere but the second video, are BUMPERS for the first seat where it contacts the toilet in the front. For tightening, you'll still have to reach under and hold the T section while you tighten the screw unlike it shows in the first video where it miraculously just tightens on its own. Also, when you drop the screw, make sure it falls into the metal flange at the base of the T. The seat wobbles a bit even after tightening, a back-and-forth play from the hinges. I guess that is normal. Still better than the generic seat I had before, which collapsed, wobbled horribly, and started leaking hydraulic fluid from the hinges. Go ahead and spend the money and get this brand name.

Easy to install. Myself, a woman did it. Watching the videos helped!!! The little oval things are stoppers for under the seat. Take the screws out of the plastic thing and fold it to go in the hole then add screws through toilet lid. Easy peasy! Goes with my Koehler toilet. Can’t speak on longevity because I just installed it. Not sure why it’s $55 but soft close feature is nice and top installation.

I've never installed a toilet seat before but this had to be the easiest thing I've done in a long time. The instructions are pretty lean though so I'll put what I did here in case it becomes useful for someone else. 1. Remove old seat. Clean the area by the hinges and screws to make your life easier. Remove the screws for the old seat. Your old seat will likely have plastic or metal screws in the top and a wingnut at the bottom but it may be a regular nut and you will need an adjustable plier or socket set to remove. You likely wont be able to just use a flathead screwdriver on the screw and loosen the seat. So reach under your seat by the tank and figure out what hardware is holding the screws in place. A seat like this has a little flexible tube that's bent through the hole in the toilet that when it pops through the other side it becomes the wingnut. Once the screws are removed, remove the old seat. 2. Clean the area around the screws. This just makes things nice and clean. 3. Position the seat (but dont try to attach it yet) just to make sure everything fits. Make sure it fits before you sits! Open the screw covers to expose the locks, and move the locking mechanism into the open position (this will save you frustration later) 4. Remove the parts bag from the box or wrapping your new seat came in (yes I missed this when I was unwrapping and lost my mind for about an hour until I found a video mentioning the parts) This should include your mount (with screws inside) and 2 bumpers to make the seat make less noise. 5. Remove the screws from the mounts. They should be able to just unscrew with your fingers, they're not tight. 6. Bend the mount in half so that the cross portion is pointing vertical, not horizontal. Push this mount through the hole in your toilet so that the cross portion pops out of the bottom of the hole and you have a tube going into the mounting hole in your toilet. 7. Place your new seat over the holes in the toilet. 8. Make sure the locking mechanism is open. This is the little tab on your seat. 9. Fasten the screws. Hold the little wingnut crossbar thing at the bottom so you dont spin it around and around. Dont crank down hard once it starts getting tight. Just get it tight to your screwdriver without exerting a lot of force. 10. Move the lock tabs into the closed position. 11. Flip your screw covers down 12. Flip your seat up (not the seat cover portion, the seat itself) and affix the bumpers to the underside of the seat. There are indentations for these bumpers. That's it, you've installed this toilet seat and you're the hero to all of the bottoms in your house.

Perfect fit, easy to install.There's no color difference either, and the price is reasonable. I'm so happy with this purchase

Easy to install and fits like it should. If you are a female and doing this yourself, you won’t have any issues putting it on! Will be easy to unlock to clean and seems pretty sturdy.

Best suited replacement seat for a discontinued toilet bowl. Sleek to look at.

Good Elongated Seat. Fits the old Kohler Portrait Toilet pan well. But the Kohler Lustra Elongated is a better shape fit to the Portrait Toilet - although arguably this is a better toilet seat. I have two Kohler Portrait Toilets and bought one of these and one Lustra Toilet Seat (the Lustra is twice the price). I won’t change this Cachet toilet seat for the moment as it’s acceptable. But next time I’ll pay the extra for the Lustra toilet seat. Even though this one is a slightly better product.

Easy to install and good quality

Easy installation and even though my toilet is from Crane, its grey colour matches the "ice grey" from Kohler. I like the bumpers under the toilet seat and nice and quiet when it closes. Also purchased the "Almond" coloured soft closing seat for my American Standard and the colour matches nicely too.
