Caused intense stinging and flaking
For about a year I have been using Neutrogena Hydro Boost “water gel” moisturiser and it made a massive difference to my dry skin. Recently I went to repurchase the product, however I realised when opening that I had accidentally ordered the “gel CREAM” and not my usual “water gel”. The moment I applied the cream version to my face (and I applied it on a damp face the way I always apply moisturiser) it started causing my skin to sting and tighten, something I’m sure other people with dry skin have experienced and had to trial and error moisturisers to find something that doesn’t do this. Within minutes me face was bone dry and flaking. It hasn’t done this in a very long time! My skin around the sides of my nose has also gone bright red. The “water gel” moisturiser by Neutrogena has NEVER had this effect on me before and I have immediately just made an purchase on EBay for the water gel version. One thing I have learned over the years of having dry skin is that creams aren’t always the best because their focus is oil rather than water. Oil based moisturisers actually aren’t the best if you suffer with extremely dry skin. Water based moisturisers are a lot more effective and my accidental purchase of this just proves that. Everyone is different and I obviously can’t say other people will have the same experience but my skin is stinging and so flaky right now while I wait for the arrival of the water gel moisturiser.

Extremely disappointed with the new formula :(
This is my favourite moisturiser and i’ve been buying it exclusively for 6 years now. Bought a new pot yesterday and at first I thought they’d just changed the container and I thought the glass was nice as it will be more recyclable but I was really disappointed to find the formula was different too. Its no longer got the watery consistency I love and is an opaque white cream. I buy hydro boost because I prefer the gel consistency to a cream that most other moisturisers have. But now it’s just the same as the cream moisturisers I don’t like. I will have to find a different brand that has a consistency I like :(

New formula is bad for the skin👎
The old formula really helped with my acne, by breakout reduced and I could see my skin coming back, but then they had to change it, I used this new formula and it ruined my skin, my skin became oily, itchy, and I started breaking out, the worst have had in years. I'm not buying this product ever again.

Why change perfection?
I previously rated this product 5 stars because I have been using it for years now and it was the best moisturiser I've ever used (and I've tried a lot!) I have very sensitive skin and this seemed to be the only thing I didn't react to. Now they have changed the recipe my skin stings and goes red when I apply it. I saw reviews saying it had changed but I thought maybe people where just getting confused between hydro gel and gel cream, but I was wrong. Neutrogena PLEASE change it back!!!

Not a patch on the previous version!
Oh Neutrogena, what have you done! I absolutely loved the previous version of this product. It was so light and had a lovely non-fragrant fragrance that set you apart from everyone else. This is greasy and smells horrid. I appreciate the eco-friendly packaging but it doesn't compare to the beautiful blue of the previous container that was always a joy to receive. I can't tell you how disappointed I am. Bought more than one and can't return either. My grandmother would say "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". Aaarrrggghhh!

Still waiting for the 'boost'!
This gel soaks in very quickly - but rather than boosting the level of moisture in the skin - it has an extremely unpleasant and very drying effect. If you have ever used Witch Hazel gel on your face - you'll know exactly what I mean; at first a cooling sensation - and then your skin looks older than before (a.k.a. 'maximum tortoise'). As others have stated, I am not entirely sure that this product is genuine. Regrettably, a complete waste of £6. The price has risen to £8+ - so save your pennies and put them towards a premium product.

STAY AWAY - New formula has wrecked my skin and caused rosacea
If I could leave 0 stars I would. An absolute scam and disgrace that this product has not been set back to 0 reviews after being reformulated into an entirely new moisturiser. I don’t know how this is allowed. I was using the new formula for months, totally oblivious that the ingredients had changed. The old formula was great, but for some reason these companies love to try and fix things that aren’t broken. Clearly greed and cost-cutting with the new formula which has caused me to develop rosacea, still battling to clear it up months later and currently at a loss at how to fix my skin. The old formula got my skin to a great place, the best it’s ever been. Unfortunately now my skin is constantly red, blotchy, irritated and dry/flakey, no matter what I do or try. Stay away people, just another greedy company that doesn’t give a monkeys about your skin.

New formula is terrible
The new formula contains different ingredients and is visibly different from the older one. Moreover, it feels absolutely terrible on the skin, greasy, oily without actually moisturising it. Broke me out terribly whereas the old one worked perfectly and absorbed really well. As a note, it’s plainly unethical how brands can use older established listings with great reviews to advertise new or reformulated products. Would give 0 stars if I could.

Really good
Al these years i used expensive and less expensive facecreams. This one, is really really good. I use it in the winter, when my skin is a bit dry. In the summer i use another one with spf.
