Seagate ST1000LX015 FireCuda 1 TB internal hybrid hard drive (6.4 cm (2.5 inches) 64 MB cache, Sata 6 Gb/s)

I Bought a late 2011 Macbook Pro for £30 which had a number of problems and issues, one of the main issues was the original Hard Drive that was installed in the Macbook at the time of manufacturing, it was and just bogging the whole system down and making everything run so slow even with a fresh reinstall, so I resided myself to changed the hard drive straight away as my number one job on my list of fixes for this old girl, and I have to say wow! what a difference it has made, It is now running at 6gbs as compared to the 3gbs loads up and really fast and the apps just simply fly open, mind you I did also upgrade the Ram to 16gb 1600mhz as well despite Apple claims that it can only go to 8gb 1333mhz, the extra fast 1600mhz Ram has also made a huge difference as well and was the cheaper option to buy then the slightly slower 1333mhz which don't make any sense. So at the end of the day I'm pleased I did spend the little bit of money to upgrade it, the extra Ram coupled with this brilliant Hard Drive is like having a new laptop all over again and a worth while investment, make sure you completed it with a nice fresh install of the OS too top it all off. a quick word of advice, don't defrag this Hard Drive you might damage the 8gb of flash Ram on board so be careful!.

My 2TB Hybrid Firecuda arrived yesterday, and installed it as a secondary drive in my asus rog replacing my 7200rpm 1TB drive. I have a 500gb SSD primary and I was a bit worried the new drive would make no difference ‘or’ even perform worse being that it is 5400 rpm. I am so glad I researched and took advice from one of the reviewers and purchased this drive. As a secondary drive it launches applications and games faster than the 7200, I have a few games, as ell as Microsoft office on my secondary, and they are very fast in loading and data transfer is unbelievable. I am a very happy bunny at the moment, I have increased the capacity of my storage and gained a very noticeable increase in loading times of both apps and games. The drive is silent, and so far, the ROG is running a degree or so cooler than normal, around 28 C, (this is with an Opolar clamped on the side of the laptop, was running at around 30-32C before drive swap with the Opolar (Temp outside today in UK 24C at time of writing. Therefore this drive “may” help in very slight temp reduction, but more time is needed before I can be sure. I did not bother cloning, I just initialised the new drive using windows (10), un-hid all the files on my 1TB secondary drive that windows restricts, and did a straight copy to the new drive, and installed the new drive (remembering to change the Drive letter to the original drive I had just replaced). To sum up, It is fast, (cooler*)and silent, I just wish Seagate still did the 32gb Hybrid Nand version, as that thing is a stonker, and is still powering my daughters laptop lighting fast. Good quality, I like them, and would recommend to anyone who wants to upgrade a primary OR secondary drive in a laptop.

I ordered this to replace the stock HDD in my PS4. Although I don’t spend most of my time sitting playing games. I can say I have noticed a very slight speed increase in load times since fitting this HDD. This being down to the hybrid nature of it. Storage space is as expected. Even though it’s a 2tb HDD there is only around 1.7tb of usable space due to other system files etc being stored. Still better than what the original PS4 (500gb) and PS4 Pro (1tb) come with. To get to the point, so far so good. I’ve heard the horror stories of these goin wrong etc. So I have my fingers crossed it doesn’t happen to me. Nice sturdy (so far) bit of kit from a reputable manufacturer. I’d recommend this for anyone looking to upgrade their PS4 storage. Good price for a lot of space. Only bad point is the lack of protective packaging it’s delivered in. Wrapped In a bit of cardboard and bundled into a plastic bag. 👍

Overall, I'm very very happy! I installed this into one of the mid level releases of the standard PS4 about 3 months a go. After watching some video tutorials online, I installed it easily enough (make sure you know what your doing beforehand!). The storage left after the system OS is installed is around 1.77 TB I believe, so bags of space for your games and it all runs very smoothly. It is not noisy whilst running and it fit right into the slot. The games run as normal, and perhaps in some cases marginally a bit quicker in terms of loading up but nothing really that noticable if I'm honest. The only thing to note is that on the graphic heavy game PUBG, I have had some slow rendering going on. I'm not sure if it is connection related by watch out for that incase it isn't a coincidence.

It does fit into an ps4 internal hdd compartment and will give you a little faster uploads (few seconds) however after the warrenty period had gone past the sshd started to play up and now shows that it is not recoverable as the read and write arms are not doing there job. It is completely dead and I will be going to ssd for sure now as they are to known to last well over 5 years. I do have an external hdd 4tb from seagate for ps4 (blue colour) and it is still working fine after few years now. There fore beware if you are using these drives for a long time over 5 years then go for ssd for sure. And dont get fooled by the SSHD (8gb solid state memory) as it isnt has reliable in speeds (1or 2 seconds faster) for regular applications.

I am currently using this sshd in my Lenovo ideapad s340 and it is working great, before I installed it into my laptop I used it as an external hard drive in a drive caddy and it worked perfectly in there too. I also test fitted it into my ps4 and it fits in there too. I haven't rated the ease of installation since that will depend on where you intend to use it, if you're using it in a desktop pc it will be easy if you are going to use it in a laptop it will depend on the device, if you do plan to use it in a laptop I would recommend checking out a teardown video of the laptop before hand so you know what you're getting into, ifixit has some great guides. The storage capacity is fine for what I need, again wether the storage capacity will suit your needs depends entirely on what you need it for, if you're planning to use it in a gaming pc for storing games, I would recommend that you get the 2tb model, or possibly even the 4tb model, although that is only available in the 3.5 inch format. If you're going to use it in an office pc then the 1tb will be more than enough and you should see some performance boosts while using common applications like word and chrome. The drive I have is nearly silent and I can't hear it over the fans when they're running at full tilt and only a slight hum when the fans are off, a slight annoyance is that you can fell the drive vibrating when using the touch pad, although that is easily rectified by using an external mouse.

I ordered two of these at the same time back in late 2017. Both installed into separate PS4s, both were working fine and we’re running quickly initially. A couple of months ago one of them failed, lost all access, wouldn’t power up via SATA to USB cable on PC and therefore unreadable. Thought I should check the warranty length as I remember it being more than one year, fortunately it was 5 years. Sending it for repair, but I don’t hold out much hope when it gets back, would prefer it was completely replaced with one which hasn’t come from a dodgy batch or I was offered a much more reliable replacement (even if it was only an HDD). My only concern now is how long will the drive in the other PS4 last, given one has already failed... It is still running quickly and quietly right enough, so maybe I’ve got (somewhat) lucky with somehow getting one of the slightly more reliable ones out of the two bought. Still though, one out of two working after two years is not a good rate of success for a hard drive! If it were an option at this stage, I’d just take a refund for the broken one and get a couple of reliable 2TB HDDs and use them externally instead of one potentially dodgy 2TB SSHD which will clearly fail again no matter who repairs it as it will be a defect from build stage so it doesn’t matter what gets put over the top of it.

I ordered the on Friday 27th of January and it was delivered today the 28th at 4pm, my existing hard drive only had 12gb of space left and constantly kept reminding me I did not have enough space. So I bit the bullet and after a lengthy amount of research I decided the firecuda would be the best option. I had read that it was simple to do and depending on how much you needed to transfer it wouldn't take too long. So after 5pm I started the process and by 8pm it was all done. I can not say for certain that it is faster than the stock drive, if anything it may possibly be only a fraction, it isn't noisy and it is exactly if not slightly more quieter than the original drive. Extremely easy to replace nothing to it really. Well packaged in its own little box and anti static bag sealed. Already I have used 1.3TB and on a fresh instal before downloading my games I had 1.7TB free, hopefully this will see my through until the next new PlayStation console!! So if your thinking about buying one then I can recommend this as an excellent choice and tomorrow it will be put through its paces.

Great for PS4, easy install! Needed an actual amout of storage space on my hardware & this did the trick... well worth it if you plan on keeping your system- runs smoother too :)

Although it improves the Performance but it lacks when has to copy Large amount of Data... This SSHD is my personal Favorite, it does improve the performance on Daily use, but still it is slow during Windows Upgrade...

First up: this hard drive was difficult to find locally for a good price. It was mostly sold out. I bought this hybrid drive for my ps4. Easy transfer, no hiccups and, it’s been a couple of weeks and it has not failed. And it’s fabulous to see so much space for all my games, finally! Delivery took a while, because COVID, but it has otherwise been great! Thank you!

I installed this in my Acer predator helios 300 gaming laptop. It takes a little time to while starting a game but all good once you start playing.
