Does this kit include everything needed for this experiments. We had a different one that we needed loads of extras including a pineapple.

Needed to buy a few extras,like blue top milk and white flowers. But you can still do most activities with what's there. It's Deff 1 of the best sets we've used.

I eldest is 5 but my youngest is 3. we obviously do everything together. could that work? or do i have to wait until my youngest if 5?

I got this as a 5th birthday present for my son - there are some bits where you need to count out drops of colouring/ use a pippet when setting up the experiments and the 'crystals' that come with it would need to be kept out of reach of a younger child. For many experiments you need to go away for a bit and then come back to them, which might be harder on the patience of a younger child. Having said that if you look ahead in the instructions to work out which bits the younger child can do then you should be able to make it work.

Does this come with all parts loose in the box or packed securely?

Loose in the box. The bottles of food colouring are in a plastic bag. Our box was a little squashed when it arrived but everything inside was fine.

I put the test tubes with crystals and dye over night and in the morning it was swarmed with tiny tiny mites/bugs what is that from?

The result of our experiment was little gem-like, but soft bits. No bugs or mites.

Rainbow themed gift idea

Bought as a gift for a 5 year old who loves rainbows. Almost all "rainbow" items include unicorns, so I was VERY excited to find something that was rainbow themed, without unicorns. I was even happier that it is a STEM item. I think this was the perfect gift for a rainbow-loving girl.
