DAC Converter 192kHz Digital to Analog Audio Adapter

I used this as an optical (digital) from an LG television to phono/RCA (analogue) to a Cambridge amplifier (which was on offer) to a couple of old but unused Tandy/Realistic speakers. My soundbar was too temperamental using HDMI/Bluetooth or Optical (the three outputs/inputs available between the LG television and LG Soundbar). Using the tv over broadband only (don't know if that's part of the issue). The problem was that whatever I tried couldn't get a clear sound (volume/clarity etc) between different app sources. The has solved the issue for me. I now have simple control over the sound. It is clearly to do with a very good amp and dare I say it a couple of very good speakers. That said, the Prozor DAC is playing its part as well. Audiophiles on Youtube and the like, speak in terms of DACs that cost in the hundreds. In fairness, they are talking about music over various interfaces to the Cambridge and then on via very expensive speaker wire to even more expensive speakers. Their systems are all at least £1K to £1.5K whereas mine for my purposes was about £350 all in (I had the speakers from a purchase in the late seventies). This unit works and costed very little so it has to get a five star review.

Got this little gizmo, because the CD player in my Panasonic SA-AKX52 hi fii had packed up. My choice was try and repair or replace the CD player, buy a separate player, for which I would need another electric socket or find a way to get my Sony BDPS4100 Smart 3D Blu-ray Disc Player to play through my non smart hi-fi so I could use that to listen to CDs. Problem was, my BD player, only had a digital coaxial output and my LG TV only had one SPDIF/Toslink digital output. My hi-fi had neither of these as inputs. I already had my Tivo box connected to my hi-fi by a scart multi connector, which also converted the audio, to standard stereo audio phono/RCA plugs, which then connected to the hi-fi. The blu ray player and TiVo were connected to the LG TV by HDMI leads. This little box solved and simplified, the whole mess. It comes with two leads one USB to DC barrel type connector cable and one optical (also known as SPDIF or Toslink) cable. What you do is plug the USB lead into a USB socket on your TV. (If your TV doesn't have one, you will have to get a separate one that plugs into the mains or use a USB socket from another device such as a play station, lap top etc.) The USB supplies the power (5 volts) to the unit. A red light will come on, telling you the unit is now receiving power. Then you plug the the SPDIF/Toslink lead into your TV and the other end into the Prozor DAC unit.. Then using two standard audio phono/RCA leads, connect the phono sockets on the unit, to the phono/RCA /Aux IN sockets on your hi-fi. (These phono/RCA leads DON'T come with the unit, you have to supply these yourself) That's it... Now any digital audio, that is coming into your TV from HDMI connectors or other inputs, will be output to the unit from your TV converted to analogue and sent to your non-digital hifi.. Before, when I had my TiVo connected to the hi-fi by scart, when I used my blu ray player, I had to use my less than ideal TV speakers to listen to the audio on films, as the blu ray player had no scart or phono out sockets. Now I can use my hi-fi speakers if I want to. I am only using the SPDIF/Toslink socket on the unit, to connect to my TV and hence Blu Ray player and TiVo box, to my hi-fi. It also has a digital coaxial socket, so if I wished, I could connect my blu ray or any other device with a coaxial digital out socket, directly to the unit and hence to the non-smart analogue hi-fi if I wanted to. It has an autosense input selection, which prioritise the SPDIF/Toslink connectio, so this must be disabled/disconnected to use the digital coaxial one. Very pleased with this device. Unit itself, is sturdy and well made, leads are not particularly long (not an issue if you are plugging them both into the same TV) The SPDIF/Toslink lead, is maybe not the sturdiest I have ever seen but if you are not going to be plugging and unplugging it a lot, then that shouldn't be an issue. With digital leads, they either work or they don't, they are not like analogue leads where you sometimes get a bit of power through but not ALL of it. with digital leads you get ALL or NONE. These worked right away no problems whatsoever. Sound quality, seems very good. I played various sources, through the unit. CD, mp3s from USB stick, SD card, from USB converter,YouTube etc and they all worked. The levels seemed fairly consistent, going to the hi-fi and of course you control the main volume from that volume control, there is no volume control on the unit. All in all very pleased with this little device.

Good point: Price Bad point: needs to be used with 2nd volume control, in our case a 2nd remote for our aged hifi - no doubt ideal if you use headphones if those have their own volume adjustment. Debatable point: Awkard to set it up if you can't be bothered reading the instructions on the tin. Conclusion: Not the best product for our needs The problem: I've given this a 4 star rating, which is maybe unfair as it is good at what it does. I bought it to connect a brand new tv (with no headphone socket) to our old hifi which hasn't got an optical or hdmi input. It works, but as the optical signal does not have a volume control we can only change the volume by using a second remote. If this is no big deal to you, then great product and good price. When first set up, we had no sound output from Ch101 onwards (HD) or any of the Apps, iPlayer, ITV Hub, etc etc. But that's basically because I didn't read the instructions contained in the ad above and on the box. It clearly states 'Please set your TV audio output to PCM / LPCM'. In this glorious tech age I did some googling to find out what was written under my nose. I gave that point 3 stars, though again, maybe that's unfair as the setting is burried in our TV menu, which is no fault of this product. Our solution but twice the price: But we decided we didn't like using 2 remotes (the one on our old hifi is a bit naff, which doesn't help). We've now replaced this with a more expensive HDMI ARC to audio converter which does exactly what we want (still a bit fiddly to set up as only one of the HDMI sockets on the TV is compatitible). I wanted to run the optic sound connection into a rather old hi fi amp and speakers. I connected the tv to the unit and then to the rca inputs on the video channel of my kenwood amp. A little fiddling with sound settings on the tv and I have strong sound for movies. Easy cheap and functional. Five stars. Power extra 😂 but also cheap.

It took a digital out and gave me analogue sound. Worked as it should. What more can one ask for.

Brilliant item, compact design and hides away easily behind the TV/stereo. Comes with the power and digital cable, you just need the RCA/3.5mm jack to RCA to run from the box to the audio device. Make sure you set all of your output devices to 2.0 stereo format sound, as this will scramble the audio signal if it is set to 5.1 or 7.1 from the TV/console that is connected to the TV.

I purchased this DAC to link my new LG smart TV with my analogue hifi. I'm now passed caring why manufacturers no longer provide analogue audio outputs!!! Anyway, the unit seems well made and was easy to connect up although my heart sank as I connected the optical cable to the DAC as there was an insecure feeling from the socket then a loud click. But all seemed well, certainly no lag, not that there should be via an optical feed, and the audio quality for a TV was fine. The main issue, and so many people have said the same so I doubt that it is a mismatch, is the low level of audio output. It is certainly far short of line level and won't properly drive a pair of headphones. What is annoying is that it would be so simple to include an extra stage of amplification to sort out this problem. The cost would be minimal and you'd think the unit would sell in higher quantities as a result. However, for the current price it represents decent value.

I need this to connect a TV to my stereo, and it does work, but the audio is a bit low. There's no way I can see to adjust it, but the output is much lower than my other equipment, so every now and again I'll forget when changing devices and get blasted by something louder. Build quality seems to be good and it's nice and small. It runs no problem from my TV's USB socket, and apart from the low sound, it's good.

Den DA-Wandler von Prozor fand ich wegen des Preises sehr interessant, daher habe ich ihm nach etwas Bedenkzeit eine Chance gegeben. Ich bin absolut zufrieden mit dem Produkt und führe nun weiter aus: Der Wandler kommt in einer bedruckten Umverpackung und durch Inlay gesichert an. Im Lieferumfang ist die Einheit selbst, sowie auch ein Anschlusskabel von "Barrell" zu USB für die Stromversorgung (hier ist kein Steckdosenadapter inbegriffen, jedoch dürfte den beinahe jeder irgendwo herumliegen haben). Was ich beim Kauf nicht beachtet hatte, freute mich bei Erhalt umso mehr: Es wird ein kurzes Toslinkkabel mitgeliefert, sodass hier ein etwaiger Zukauf entfällt. Eine Anleitung brauchte ich bei einem nicht-einstellbaren Gerät nicht zu wälzen, jedoch liegt dennoch hier eine bei, welche auf etwaige Anwendungsprobleme Bezug nimmt. Mein Anwendungsgebiet für den Adapter ist vielleicht etwas atypisch: Ich habe eine Playstation 2, welche über eine Toslinkschnittstelle für digitales Audio verfügt. Da der Röhrenfernseher, an welchem ich die Konsole betreibe a) Mono läuft und b) es beim Abgriff des Audios via Kabel hier zuviel Störeinstreuungen gibt, wollte ich den Ton direkt durch die Konsole abnehmen und einem kleinen günstigen Hifi-Setup zuführen. - Der Anschluss des Prozor DACs war natürlich leicht (Verbindung mit dem Lightpipe-Kabel herstellen, im Konsolenmenu den digitalen Audioausgang aktivieren und den DAC mit Strom versorgen). Der DAC funktionierte direkt wunderbar, sowohl funktionsseitig als auch im Hinblick auf die Stabilität von Gehäuse und Anschlüssen. Störsignale konnte ich weder beim Anschluss für die Kopfhörer, noch bei der Lineverbindung via Cinch-Kabeln feststellen, sodass ich "kristallklares Audio" in meiner aufgesetzten Audiokette erhielt (PS2 > DAC > Miniverstärker > Vintage-Lautsprecher). Den Koaxial-Eingang wiederum konnte ich hier nicht testen, da ich weder Kabel noch Geräte mich ebendiesen Anschlüssen habe. - Ob der Sound absolut perfekt gewandelt wird, kann ich ohne teures Richt- und Messequipment fairerweise nicht sagen. Somit ist dieser DAC für den schmalen Geldbeutel wirklich eine sehr gute Investition gewesen. Was ich dennoch für interessierte Käufer anmerken kann: 1) Der Kopfhöreranschluss im DAC verfügt nicht über eine eigene Lautstärkeregelung, wer also Kopfhörer anschließt, sollte hier entweder via separaten Kopfhörerverstärker eine Verbindung herstellen oder hat einen Kopfhörer mit integrierten, regelbaren Verstärker. Alternativ ließe sich ein passiver Inline-Adapter für Stereokopfhörer zwischenschalten, jedoch sind diese erfahrungsgemäß billig verarbeitet und das Matching der Kanäle suboptimal. 2) Der DAC an sich hat keinen eigenen Einschaltknopf: Wenn er Strom erhält, ist er auch eingeschaltet. Ich finde das nicht wirklich relevant, jedoch gibt es sicher auch Anwender, welche diese Funktion vermissen würden. Mein Endfazit also, sollte es zuvor nicht erkennbar geworden sein: Ich bin total zufrieden mit dem Gerät, da es unkompliziert tut, was ich erwarte. Ich habe bei diesem Preis nicht mit der sehr sauberen, stabilen Verarbeitung gerechnet, sodass das für mich als Pluspunkt gilt.

I needed to connect a new smart TV to an older sound system that uses RCA connections for input. This was exactly the thing I needed. Its small size makes it easy to hide behind the TV, and the power and optical digital output cables are of sufficient length to connect to the back of the TV and to a power source. In my case, I used an old @pple 5V 1A power supply that plugs into a standard 120V outlet. The optical cable fit the TV output jack perfectly. For an older sound system having just two channels (left and right), it is important to follow the manufacturer's guidance and set the digital audio output on the TV to PCM, otherwise there will no sound from the old sound system. Other than that, it was plug and play. The sound quality output of the sound system was very good, and there were no volume issues (e.g., impedance mismatch). Great value for the price.

Product works very well

I am not sure how this item got any good reviews. I cant find any info about prozor as a manufacturer It looks like an oem of some sort and it is made in china. I wasted time returning this

It works as expected. They mention PCM but there might be other features in your sound settings that you need to tweak. Don't lose faith.
