How long are the straps on this item?

I found that the straps weren't very long, I'd probably saw about 50cm, to be honest I took them off when I purchased the sword so I never properly measured them, however based on the length of the sheath and my memory I'd say they aren't too long or too short (enough to loop it on your shoulder like a messenger bag). However as this sword is intended for children, it would depend on who's carrying it.

No, it is not wood its plastic. I was very disappointed with this product, cheap looking, tacky and poor quality. Don't waste your money.

Is the strap long enough to wear like a sash with the sword on one’s back?

No it is not. I purchased this for my son who was 8yrs at the time and the strsp is a short tacky piece of string. Don't waste your money.
