Deeply impressed.
Okay so I started researching headphones a while ago and being new to the whole "how much for those cans??!!" market, I was sceptical of how much of a difference they would make and nervous about which ones to get. Short review line is, these are excellent. Job done, you can go now. Not satisfied? Well I've tested them out against my 5.1 Logitech z906 speakers which are running on an optical connection (worth noting that the DT990s are running from a Creative Labs G5 dac). In games the bass on the headphones is incredible. Cannon fire in World of Warships woke me up and not because it was loud but just because I'd never heard such a boom before. I've also been testing this on music (not an audiophile so bear with me here) and having just ran Masterchef Synesthesiaby by Swede Mason through both, one after the other, the sound was distinctive. I get why people say these cans aren't for bass heads after this test, not that it's from a lack of bass on the cans but because it's airy. The speakers delivered a wall of sound which I felt as much as heard and the result was the bass was powerful but messy. I couldn't tell one bass line from another. With the DT990s I can tell which bass line is doing what without any effort whatsoever but it doesn't assault my head with a rumble designed to make soup of my brain (that's both an advantage and a disadvantage in my book). I can say however that the bass isn't lacking. Spread Your Love doesn't have quite the dirty bass I'm used to. Keine Lust comes through nice and punchy (as I've just found out, ensure you have that dac set to direct audio or you're wasting the potential of these cans) but unlike most headphones, iems and speakers I've tried this track on, I can separate the guitars perfectly, even in the busy chorus. Now, for build quality, these feel excellent. I've broken many headsets in my time and the only ones to last have been a pair of Sennheiser PC323Ds which these DT990s are replacing. I've got confidence that these cans will last a good long while. They're solid and feel like they're going to be heavy but really aren't when they're on your head. As for fit, I have an inordinately large cranium (stop giggling!) and they fit fine. Firm clamping force fresh out of the box. Nothing uncomfortable. Does feel a little warm around my head but I'm more of a cold weather guy and it's been up to 26c in front of my pc the last couple of nights so I'm putting it down to that. Accessories wise, you get the necessary and no more. The jack adaptor seems robust and well made (the threads on the screw joint into the 3.5mm work fine, which is usually the test of a decent engineer), the bag is nothing special and there's nothing else in the box. If you like rock music from System of a Down to AC/DC and Queen Adreena, I'd say you can buy with confidence. As a parting note, I'm listening to Midlife Crysis by Faith no More as I write this and not only am I finding new pieces of the music that I can enjoy, the bass is there like I've never heard before. It's no longer a background of continual growl without much rhythm but specific notes! I am very impressed with these cans (as you can probably tell). Now all I'm left wondering at is what you'd get for the £2k cans and above? If this is the lower end of the range then call me a philistine and leave me happy here.

Amazing Sound & Super Comfortable – Totally Worth It
These DT 990 PROs are honestly some of the best headphones I’ve ever used — especially for the price. If you’re into music, gaming, or just love great sound, you’ll probably love these too. First off, they’re super comfy. The ear pads are soft and feel great, even during long sessions. I can wear them for hours without my ears hurting or feeling too warm. They're big, but not in a bad way — more like a cozy cloud for your head. As for the sound quality — wow. The audio is super clear and detailed. The bass is strong but not overpowering, the highs are crisp, and everything feels nicely spaced out. You can really hear all the little layers in your music or game. The open-back design makes the sound feel wide and natural — like you're sitting in a room with speakers, not just wearing headphones. They’re also built like a tank. Really solid and durable, not cheap plastic like a lot of other brands. Just keep in mind the cable is permanently attached, which might be a downside for some. One thing to note: these are the 250-ohm version, so they sound best with an amp or audio interface. They’ll still work with a phone or laptop, but they really shine when properly powered. Bottom line: If you're looking for headphones that sound amazing, feel great, and are built to last, the DT 990 PRO is a fantastic choice. Whether you’re gaming, mixing music, or just vibing to your favorite playlist — they won’t disappoint.

Purr-fect Sound, Until My Cat Joined the Band
The Beyerdynamic DT 990 PRO Limited Black Edition headphones have been an absolute game-changer for me, offering an unparalleled audio experience that I hadn't realized was possible until I put them on. From the deep, immersive bass to the crystal-clear highs, every note, every beat, every intricate layer of sound is rendered with such precision and clarity that it feels like being front and center at a live concert. The comfort level of these headphones is unmatched. The soft, circumaural velour ear pads and the padded headband allow for hours of comfortable use without any of the discomfort that usually comes with long gaming sessions or music marathons. The open diffuse field studio design not only provides excellent playback precision but also adds a depth to the audio experience that closed headphones simply can't match. Being an avid gamer and an occasional music producer, I found these headphones to be perfect for both worlds. The open-back design offers a wide soundstage that is ideal for gaming, making it easier to pinpoint where sounds are coming from in a virtual environment. And when it comes to music production, the exceptional pulse behavior and playback precision mean you can hear every detail in the mix, ensuring your tracks are just as you intended them to be. However, to get the most out of the 250 Ohms version, a DAC is indeed necessary. Pairing these headphones with the GOXLR has been a revelation, providing not just the needed power but also the flexibility to tweak the sound to my exact liking. Now, for the twist in the tale – my cat, apparently a budding audiophile or perhaps just a cable connoisseur, decided that the smooth, 3-meter cable was too tempting to resist. One moment I was lost in the immersive soundscapes of my favorite game, and the next, I was yanked back to reality by the sight of my cat chomping down on the cable. While it's a testament to Beyerdynamic's service-friendly construction that I could easily replace the cable, it's also a reminder that no matter how perfect your setup, it's no match for a curious cat.

Absolutely amazing, Not as strong as i thought.
Durability: These things are so strong I dropped them many times (butter fingers) but there isn’t even I scratch or any sort of way to tell they are dropped. Build quality: amazing ear cups are plastic but the headband is metal and some sort of leather feeling fabric. Versatility: they are wired and the wires very long so even though they are for studio use I use them on a MacBook Air and they are fine for it not for tracking though. Value for money: I would say in between pros and cons for not side such as pros: insanely comfy. Long cable for setup that are further away. won’t damage easily. Cons: cable gets caught on things. Quit pricey. Overall Amazing durability, great build quality, not to good versatility, high value for money UPDATE: About a year down the line of using them, i had noticed the tip/cable that connects them to the pc started to bend. (i dont think this was the headphones fault necessarily, however it shouldve been stronger than to bend after just having it at a funny angle.) I noticed it, and while walking away from the computer one day, i caught my foot on the cable, and it snapped the tip of the cord out and now the rest of the plug is inside my computer (£10-£30 repair smh) so im not pleased, however, it was a mistake on my part.

Incredible...PURE INCREDIBLE
These are some of the BEST headphones for mixing and mastering, and even just producing and games. They are a good size and adjustable to fit any head size. The sound quality from these is incredible! The soundstage is super wide and clear, and as its open back, you can hear every little detail. They are super durable and comfortable with soft earcups that fit nicely around your ears without making you sweaty as they are fabric. The headband part is comfortable and I haven't noticed any discomfort from wearing these up to 8 hours per day. I've owned these for almost a year now and they are still as good as the day I got them. They have a strong build quality and great sound profile! The high frequencies are a bit loud but easily fixable and not painful. These are definitely worth the money and I couldn't recommend these enough

A game changer
As a music lover and avid gamer I spend a lot of time wearing headphones. Over the years I tried a wide range of headphones, earbuds and speakers. I can safely say that the Beyerdynamic DT 990's are the best headphones I have found to date. That good I purchased another pair when the band clamp broke on my first set. Only to find it was a common issue and stronger replacements were readily available at a reasonable price. I used to struggle with headaches and a feeling of built up pressure after prolonged headphone use. With these headphones which are nice and light, have soft and comfortable ear cups and an open back design this is no longer an issue. The cable is quite long however it doesn't seem to tangle. Very clear and concise sound quality and they also look great.

Fantastic value headphones
I use these for my gaming pc. So anything from music, watching videos and playing games. These are so comfortable for long sessions. The ear cups are breathable and they are not heavy at all. They sound great and offer a wide sound stage. I really like how long the wire is. I have these paired with a creative g6 USB dac. With this the sound signature can be tuned to my liking. Due to these having a open back you can hear things going on around you and if your volume is high, others will be able to hear what you are listening to.

Chirurgiche
