Yep. 3.5 mm jack. The standard for all soundcards and Motherboard sound out for a LONG time. Should work with almost any sound producing piece of equipment, except for the Iphone7 I suppose.

How Irritating or annoying is the high pitched noise the reviewer who gave the speakers one star talks about?

I've been using my speakers for a while and have had no issues. I think that person had a faulty device or something.I use the speakers for both my desktop and piano and have had no issues regarding "high pitched noises".

can these be wall mounted?

The satellite speakers are not designed to be wall mounted. There are no holes on the back that would lend themselves to hanging, and the cable would also get in the way.
