I have been doing some research and asking around some bbq-franatic friends as well for recommendations before deciding what type and brand to go for. For us, it all came down to the Weber compact kettle charcoal grill barbecue. It is well built, well thought through, yet easy to use. Made of the highest guality materials. No detail about it is left to mere chance. We love everything about this grill - from the size,to how well it works, to how easy it is to keep it clean, the options it gives you, and last but not least, the taste of the food made on it! We bought the 47cm wide one, which easily accommodates a group of 10 ppl or even more. (tested it with 10, had loads of leftovers :)) )We are rather beginners in the world of bbqing, and even for us it was relatively easy and straightforward to use. Of course, lots of room for imrpovement!:)We bought some accessories as well from weber, it is really worth investing in the whole bundle from the beginning. makes the whole experience much easier and much mor enjoyable.All in all, very happy customers here, only recommending this product! :)

From the moment he opened it, he was thrilled. The classic kettle design looks fantastic, and the build quality is exactly what you’d expect from Weber: sturdy, durable, and made to last.The 47cm grill area is the perfect size for family braais. There’s plenty of room for boerewors, steaks, chicken, and veggies all at once. The heat distribution is excellent, and the lid helps maintain that authentic smoky flavour while keeping everything juicy and evenly cooked.Assembly was straightforward, and once set up, it felt very solid and stable. The ash catcher makes cleaning much easier than expected, which is always a bonus after a long evening of cooking.Most importantly — the food tastes amazing. He says it reminds him of home, which makes this gift even more special.If you’re looking for a meaningful gift for someone who loves charcoal grilling (especially a proud South African!), this Weber Compact Kettle is an absolute winner. I wasn't sure if the 47cm size would be large enough for a BBQ for 4 but it's easily large enough. Extremely well made, it holds heat in better than any kettle style unit I've had and is perfect for smoking or fast grilling.For slower cooking I fitted a temperature gauge and in drilling the 20mm hole in the lid to take the gauges sensor is when I found out what this Weber is made of. Tough as old boots! I suspect that this Compact will last for years.The accessories that I feel are almost essential are a briquette/charcoal starter and a side mounted holder for the lid. The small hanger that is situated under the lid is too hit and miss and also is in the way of the prime position for an after market temp gauge.Buy it with confidence - it really is a superb bit of engineering using quality materials.

Found this bbq ok but you need to be aware it’s not very high clue in the word compact but it’s still a good bbq

I’ve bought this as a gift and the recipient is very pleased with it. It’s a great size for a small family and looks good. If it lasts half as long as ours (23 years and has never been stored inside) then it represents true value for money. They are easy to put together and the handle makes it easy to move when the wind changes and you need to re-position it to let the smoke drift in a different direction.

Bought this to replace my old one as it was dropping to bits & quite big taking up a lot of space.I think this is a Good quality BBQ & the right size for us as a couple, easy to store in the shed as it’s not too big.I found it a bit fiddly to put together on my own & didn’t study the photos properly as I initially put a leg on the wrong way, I hadn’t realised till I had put the wheel on & hammered the wheel nut in so it took a while to reverse the process!That said I’m happy with it now and it seems robust and sturdy enough.Good value for money as I got it at a reduced price, I can see me using it a lot.

I bought this to replace my 20 year old Weber charcoal grill, and despite the "kettle" being a little smaller purely in terms of depth, its just as good. Easy to assemble, sturdy feeling and easy to clean. What more do you want. Gas grilling is for the weak - just cook in the kitchen, p'tahk! The gates of gre'thor stand open for those that use a George Foreman grill. Come to my noble house and I will grill you the finest heart of Targ!Qa'pla!
