Le Creuset Toughened Non-Stick Glass Lid, 28 cm, Transparent, 96200828000000

I purchased this to use with a 25cm Staub frying pan. The Staub glass lids have been out of stock for months so this will have to do. It fits perfectly and also fits my 26cm Le Creuset shallow casserole dish. The lid is much lighter than the original cast iron lid of the casserole dish, so this could be a solution if you find the combined weight of cast iron pan and cast iron lid to be too heavy.The lid itself is very high quality, perfect blemish free glass and the metal rim around the outside is seamless. The handle can be removed with a philips screwdriver for thorough cleaning. My one complaint with the design is that underneath the metal rim can be difficult to clean. The Staub glass lids are preferable in that regard.The Le Creuset packaging is fairly robust and does protect the lid so there's less of a chance of it arriving broken.

I bought this lid to replace one from a Tefal Professional range which I smashed. I couldn't replace the lid direct from Tefal apart from with a generic rubbish looking one which is the only one they supply. Then I discovered this one which is stylish and great value for money. A lesson learnt from me to stick with Le Cruset as they have the sense to continue to supply quality replacement parts for their items unlike other brands. Fortunately in my case it fitted my pan too!

Lid moved around and felt like it might slide off but it never does!

I own other lids from Le Creuset, even ones which are identical in design to this one which I purchased a few years ago and they hold up better than the one I recently purchased. It's still a nice lid and I think will last me a few years but it's quite obviously their quality control has dropped. Not what it used to be.My complaint with this item is the metal around the glass edge isn't as secure as compared to their previous lids I've purchased.

If you are purchasing a Le Creuset, you know that you are purchasing quality and at a price. So , it comes as no surprise that the lids for sauce pans, friers etc. do exactly what you expect. In my experience, Le Creuset is a one time purchase. Still using items purchased thirty years ago and expect this to outlive me!

Fits the pan snugly, keeps food moist and the handle makes it so easy to lift off.
