Red Tamales - Mexican Food Microwavable Pouch - 3.8 oz, 12 Pack

I received these a week earlier than expected. I wanted so much to order the Sweet Masa (Corn) and Sweet Plum because they are low in sodium and most suited for the Dash Diet. But the supplier had no inventory. So I ordered the Red and found these tamales very satisfying in flavor. They capture the flavor found in the steamed dough of homemade tamales steamed while the texture is denser because of packaging. It's a good value offered with price points much more budget friendly than its the competitor. This product as concept is excellent for a very healthy, super quick meal whereby the tamale is heated for a few seconds, topped with high fiber black beans, and served with avocado slices on the side. The combination of corn and beans always results in a complete protein. I plan to order again and again throughout the year as I have trust in both La Costena as a food manufacturer and this supplier seems also trustworthy and eager to offer best value pricing.

These are so much better than a canned version. For a quick breakfast or snack this hits the spot.

Little spicy for my taste but still good and super convenient.

These are really great for instant tamales. The taste is great, the texture is great, but there is no sauce. I don’t know why it says that on the package. There is no sauce unless they mean they mixed it in with the masa. Great dense texture. After it is heated for 75 seconds, I put 2 tablespoons of salsa on top and they are delicious. Not as good as the homemade ones, of course, but they are really good for instant tamales.

Ok. don't get me wrong, I tried my first one today and was impressed by the packaging and simple instructions. It tasted AMAZING: rich thick masa with small pieces of pork, not a lot but enough to give it the right flavor. It had a small bite to it due to the Jalapenos, but nothing an old Texas boy like me couldn't handle. It was delicious. Then it came time to pay the piper...about an hour later I was making a "run for the border" and I had just managed to drop my pants and get over target when everything short of my colon and small intestines sprayed out of me. It coned out like a grenade blast painting the entire inside of the toilet bowl. Not counting the bowl, personal clean up had to be conducted in stages as the blast "flared up" almost enough to make it to the seat and beyond. Could be my way too Gringo body, but take my advice: try one, but wear loose fitting clothes (easy on and off) and nothing you would hate to ruin (it happens that fast...) and don't venture far from the throne...believe me, time and body functions are working against you on this one

These are great. Honestly. They taste maybe 7/10 like a homemade tamale
