Very nicely done Rexing! Well made, solid built dash cam with expandability
I have been a Rexing fan for years now. All the Rexing dash cams I've used before have been solid performers.Windshield mountThis window mount is extremely solid. It has two contact points on the outside of the mount unlike my previous Rexing dash camera that has a single point of contact in the middle. This new mount does not allow the camera to shake or move at all. It is completely rigid. A definite improvement.StorageBeing that you can use a 256 GB microSD card in this dash camera, it's also nice that they changed the video encoding format from H.264 to H.265. What this means is this dash camera may have a more robust processor to create the H.265 video files. This also means that you get nearly 50% more video that can be recorded onto your microSD card. For example (on a 256 GB microSD card) in H.264 format, you could get about 20 hours of 4K video before it starts recording over the old files. With the H.265 format, you can get about 30 hours of 4K video before it starts recording over the old files. The 4K video files are recorded in 1 minute increments. Some people prefer to have longer files however when dealing with a small device and 4K video, the file sizes would be gigantic and very processor intensive if they were made longer. I'm sure a camera that could accommodate longer video files could be made, however I think the price point would be too high for most consumers and would not become a very popular and viable product. Sometimes files get corrupted also. It would be much better to have a single one minute file corrupted rather than a single 3-minute file corrupted, especially if it contained important footage you needed.Large displayThis V55 has a very large color display as compared to previous models. You can clearly see what's being recorded without having to squint. For some people, it might be difficult if they have a lot of frits (little black dots to reduce sunlight) on the top of their windshield and they are limited as to where they can position this dash cam. As long as the lens is below the frits, that's all that really matters. You can mount the windshield mount on top of the frits and have your lens just below it to have a clear view for your recordings. The more of the upper part of the camera that you can conceal behind the frits, the more stealthy it will look. For some vehicles, it might be possible to position the camera in front of the rear view mirror (on passenger side) so as to not obstruct your view (i.e. traffic lights, stop signs, freeway signs, etc.) when driving.Camera lensEven though (from the pictures) it appears that the lens is fixed, IT IS NOT. There is a ball joint behind it so you can make fine tune adjustments to compensate for the placement and angle of the windshield dash mount. Once again, it is not a stationary fixed lens. You can adjust it. Always conduct tests before finalizing your windshield mount location.Built-in GPS loggerIt's nice to have a built-in GPS logger rather than an external unit connected to it. Rexing made the characters 2 lines and burned into the very bottom of the screen and took up very little room (<20% of the horizontal width) along the bottom and center justified. In many cases, these burned in characters would be over the top of your car's hood so it wouldn't be affecting or covering any important content within the video image. It states on the top line: "Rexing", the date, the time and on the bottom line: GPS coordinates with NSEW direction, your speed, all of which are constantly being updated during the recording.Voice controlThe voice control makes it super simple and much safer to control the dash cam while keeping your eyes on the road and your hands on the steering wheel. You can use voice commands such as "turn on screen", "turn off screen", "lock the video", "take photo", "video start", "video stop", "show front camera", "show rear camera", "show both camera", "turn on audio", "turn off audio", "turn on Wi-Fi", and "turn off Wi-Fi". Completely hands-free which is very nice.ExpandabilityFor those looking to expand with multiple cameras, it gives you the option of adding one for the interior and another for the rear window for added video protection. This is perfect for Uber and Lyft drivers.Other featuresThis dash camera has dual band Wi-Fi with 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands. It also has collision detection where the footage is protected in the event of a collision. It also has a parking monitor so that your car is under surveillance and protection, provided you purchase a smart hardwire kit so the camera always has power to it. Using the cigarette lighter power cord does not allow these functions to work so you'll have to purchase the smart hardwire kit to use the collision detection and parking monitor features on this camera. They removed the USB pass through on the cigarette lighter cord but that's not a deal breaker. Just something to be aware of. It comes with a full 12-month warranty and if you register it on the official RexingUSA site, you can extend the warranty to 18 months. The site also offers extended warranties for purchase.ConclusionI have used multiple Rexing cameras on my vehicles. I have also recommended Rexing to many of my friends and family and they absolutely love them. They have been very reliable and pretty much zero maintenance. This dash camera may not be one size fits all because of your needs or your vehicle's mounting limitations, but the main thing I get from Rexing is peace of mind with a reliable product for when you really need it, especially when someone accuses you of something that is not true and you need evidence to back up your case in court.

My third and favorite dash cam so far!
This is at least my 3rd Rexing Dash Cam I've had over the years. I've owned the V1P, V2 Pro and now the V55. This V55 is my new favorite! My initial impression was the sleek design. It looks more modern than the previous versions, including the larger screen size. But at the same time, less bulky looking. The screen is also much brighter than the older models. The menu has large color icons (see photo) making it very clear and easy to navigate through the settings. The older models were not as easy to change the settings. The only thing that would make this better would be a touch screen, but not a big deal. The voice commands are very responsive (see photo). I said "take photo" and I heard it snap a photo with zero hesitation! It was instant! This is a great option to capture still images, while at the same time, it will keep recording video so you don't have to worry about restarting the video recording after taking a photo. Also, we prefer to have the audio muted. We like to sing in the car, and we'd rather not have evidence of this if we ever need to present video in court! However, if we are involved in a situation where recording could be beneficial, we can instantly unmute by saying "turn on audio". Again, this is so much better than trying to quickly navigate a menu. I will probably also take advantage of the "turn off screen" command while driving at night so it's not distracting.I really like that this camera was designed with the option to add other cameras. Some may just want a simple dash cam at first, but may later decide to add a rear camera and/or a cabin camera. This is the perfect model to upgrade any time. I do not own the rear camera for this model, but I will probably get it. Our last dash cam had a rear camera, and it was exactly what we needed when my wife got rear ended. It proved the other driver was not looking when she ran into our car. I just wish that our old model rear camera would be comparable with this dash cam so I didn't have to purchase another one, or reinstall it. But it's still worth it just to upgrade to this model. The camera is super sharp and has great resolution. But I was not surprised because Rexing cameras have always been impressive. This V55 is at the top of the list though! The other thing I'll mention is the built-in GPS. I will never own a dash cam that doesn't include this! This feature alone could save you the price of the camera! If you are ever pulled over and there is any conflict regarding your speed, the on-screen speedometer display may be the only proof you need to get out of a speeding ticket.Needless to say, I'm very pleased with this dash cam. I will update this review once I purchase the rear (and possibly cabin) camera.

Works nicely
This is an upgrade for me from the V1P dash cam. Camera has nice functions, including built-in GPS, parking detection, and the capability to accept a larger memory SD card. It does NOT come with a rear camera (one can be purchased for it), but I knew this when ordering it. The camera also has voice commands, which can be used to lock a video, take a photo, turn WiFi on/off, as well as other commands. The field of view is very wide (170 degrees), with 4K resolution. The footage at night is in color and has very good quality. The data is also automatically placed into folders based on what type it is (photo, normal video, event, parking).I took away one star overall due to the fact that this is incompatible with my current dash cam mount and rear camera, so I cannot just switch the V55 for the V1P. I will have to re-wire the rear camera once I get one, as well as removing the old mount to install the new one. The hardwire kit IS compatible, so that is very helpful. It would have been nice if the cameras could be more compatible with each other in regard to the mounts and camera ports.Overall, very good quality dash cam. Very happy to have this extra set of eyes for my car.

So far, so good
I live in S Florida so lots of things melt inside your closed vehicle; the older Rexing cams have all lasted years, let's see what this bad-boy does.....I like it now, more later in October or so...
