If just starting to play the clarinet, the 1.5 or 2 reeds are good to start off with. Probably the best brand for reeds.

I bought a second hand clarinet and had to replace all of the pads with good quality leather pads. I found the reed that I had was also faulty and needed to buy a new set. I found the information on this product very helpful as I had no idea of what I was doing. The original reed was a 2.5 and a bit stiff for me to get a full range of notes out of so I opted to follow the advice and by the 1.5 beginners reeds, problem solved. Now I can anoy my neighbours. LOL

Very impressed with these reeds. I bought the 1.5 strength for my son who is a beginner and they are ideal for him but still produce a much better, less beginner-like tone than the equivalent Rico (in my humble opinion of course!).

I've been using Vandoren clarinet and Sax reeds for years, I don't think you need me to sing their praises. I would add that inside the box these reeds are individually sealed. I've had unused reeds rot in the past, even after time scales of only a month or two. The sealed packets prevent this.

This size of reed was recommended by my tutor taking into consideration the fact that I am new to the clarinet. It seems easier to produce a sound with a finer reed in the beginning before progressing to a larger size.

Use Vandoren reeds in my clarinet; the first one used has been OK.

I don't know why other reviewers said these reeds are great only for intermediate players and not beginners. I am really glad I ignored that advice. When I got my clarinet and started playing, I suspected that my difficulty in producing a good sound might be due to the reed that came with the instrument (it might have been old or dried out, and it was definitely too hard for me). So I bought the Van Doren traditional in 1.5, and immediately I was able to produce beautiful sounds in a wide range. Suddenly I could play in the lower and clarion registers with ease. Mind you, I had been playing for less than a week. My sense of "beautiful" may not be too sophisticated. But this reed was a revelation. My nine year old son (who took up the instrument the same time I did) is also able to produce a very nice tone with it. Fast forward a few weeks, I think I need to move on to a harder reed pretty soon. But my son will probably be using this box of reeds for a while. It is perfect for a beginner who does not want to have to suffer. Why compound all the troubles of the learning curve with inferior equipment? Get a good reed. The price difference is insignificant at most--and if what they say about durability is true, it's an economical choice, too.

Besonders positiv finde ich die gute Ansprache – die Blätter reagieren schnell und ermöglichen ein kontrolliertes Spielen, auch bei längeren Sessions. Zudem haben sie eine angenehme Haltbarkeit und verlieren nicht sofort an Qualität. Für Anfänger wie auch fortgeschrittene Spieler sind diese Blätter eine sehr gute Wahl. Preis-Leistung stimmt hier definitiv. Ich würde sie wieder kaufen und kann sie weiterempfehlen
