This tortilla warmer makes me wonder why I delayed the purchase. I have warmed tortillas, pita bread, small flatbreads and moo shu pancakes in this warmer. The small vent in the knob helps maintain sufficient ventilation of moisture without allowing the contents to become dry. I have used it in the microwave and washed in the dishwasher, and have every expectation this warmer is both microwave safe and dishwasher safe. The tortilla warmer produces such superior and reliable results, in part because the porcelain material is just weighty enough to accomplish the task, and light enough to feel comfortable to use. The size is perfect for everything tortilla type I use in my meal preparation. I believe I have received more value for this purchase than the cost of this warmer.

I've been moving away from microwaving food in plastic. I still store things in plastic but I no longer what to reheat food in it. I have been looking at my plastic tortilla steamer (which I actually use for veggies) and decided to replace it. Ceramic or wood seem like obvious choices. This one is ceramic, it has a vent hole in the lid. It claims to be microwave and dishwasher safe (but NOT for ovens or stove-top use) which sounds perfect. Also, quite frankly it is very pretty. One note of caution, it is ceramic-so I am worried I might accidentally smash it on my stone counter tops, it sounds fragile when I set it down. So far so good. I recommend you reduce the steaming time over plastic as it seems to cook faster in this container.

This is a very nice warmer. It has good weight and is nicely finished. I gave it 4 stars because the lid is very light weight and I'm worried it will chip easily. I'd recommend.

A must for making homemade tortillas! Helps to keep the tortillas warm while other tortillas are being cooked. Allows the tortillas to self-steam to keep them soft and pliable after they are cooked. The warmer itself is very stylish and fits 8inch diameter tortillas. Easy to clean. Could possibly be used to keep pancakes warm as well, though I have not used it for that yet.
