MKS (Mikashima) FD-7 Pedals, Made in Japan, Folding Pedals, Left and Right Set, Silver

This is truly worth buying for. Exceptional (Japanese made) quality and sturdiness would last surely for very long. Price a bit on the expensive side but it reflects its quality. Full metal alloy construction (apart the reflectors of course which do not cover though the full width of the cage but probably not needed) and not metal coloured as mentioned in the description. Unfolds very easily with the press of a button and then the metal cage just drops, so it's just one action needed compared to standard designs (which need two actions: 1. press/keep pressed the cage and 2. fold). Also, it is more hygienic in this sense (as could be) according to my opinion, as you only need to touch, using one finger, the button (and not the whole pedal) which does not touch directly the shoe's outsole. Although it seems to protrude when folded due to its design, the actual width remaining when folded was the same with the previous Suntour folding pedals I used. Great grip again due to its design, does not slip at all, enabling to apply full pressure on it. No drawbacks at all - well done MKS!

I bought two pairs of these for the bikes that my wife and I take on holiday with us. We carry them in the back of the car, and I got fed up with pedals catching in spokes. These solve that problem nicely. The pedals fold with a simple but firm push on a button, which means the bikes can lie flat in the boot, and there's no bits sticking our to catch on the other bike. In use, the platform is smaller than the OEM pedals the bikes came with, but not uncomfortably so. Metal ridges mean that grip for your shoes is good, and even when out of the saddle they feel very sturdy. As mentioned above, the push required to fold them is firm, so you never feel like they are going to fold whilst you are riding. For me, the sturdiness of the metal seems to be worth the potential weight penalty and extra cost over the many plastic sets that are available. I've ridden 500 miles on these in the last couple of months and they've given me no rouble whatsoever. Recommended.

I originally bought these pedals on the 27th of July, 2019. I initially put them on my fixed gear bicycle but since then they have also been used on multiple other bikes. I have put these pedals to the absolute test. I work 4-6 hours per day, 6-7 days per week meaning these pedals have at least 30 hours of usage put into them every week and have done every day since I got them. They are still going strong over 5 years later. I will be honest, however. They are just now starting to rattle a little bit. Nothing too noticeable and nothing that would stop me using them but I just put them on my new eBike and I do believe this will be the final journey for these pedals as I plan to retire them sometime in the next year and upgrade to different MKS pedals. These pedals have been a joy to ride and considering how much usage they've gotten over the last few years I think it's safe to say that these folding pedals are the best in the business. Nobody else on Amazon will have put these things through the beating that I have, so rest assured when I say these are S+ (perfect score). One last thing, these pedals can be installed in two ways. Either with a standard spanner, like most pedals, or with a hex key from the rear. This makes them super easy to install and remove and also gives the pedals a redundancy in case you can't get them on with either method, as you can use the other method instead. Fantastic design. MKS Pedals are the diamond platinum standard, they're the only pedals I ever use, and for good reason. Don't waste money on any other tat you see on Amazon. This is the real deal.

Update on price.......I have noticed prices changing on Amazon following good reviews. My review below is based on the price point of £28.25 Delivery was a quite slow, but first impressions after a couple of weeks of moderate use (about 50 miles so far) are all positive. Build quality, folding action and smooth running bearings all give the impression of being a quality product that will stand the test of time. This is my third set of folding pedals (bearing failure and structural failure accounted for the first 2 sets) and they feel a cut above the previous products. Another reviewer has observed that the folding mechanism stopped working after dirt got into it; so far I have not seen any degradation of the folding mechanism, but only time will tell. If this problem develops I will update my review so you can see how long it was before the problem developed. UPDATE: After a heavy usage on holiday (including being dragged about for 2 weeks on the back of a campervan getting covered in crud) the pedals are working well. There is now a SLIGHT grainy feel to the mechanism, but this is more evidence of the tight manufacturing tolerances rather than a problem.

A bit pricey but very high quality folding pedals with an easy and smooth mechanism. Grippy in the wet too..

I store three bikes together in a 4ft wide shed and moving them to and fro can be a pain when the pedals catch in the adjacent bikes wheels. These pedals fold up quickly and easily on the cranks and give that much more clearance. They are very well engineered in solid aluminium. The grip is for the foot is excellent and the bearings are free running with no discernable play. I went out for a 20 mile ride today and had every confidence when standing on the pedals. they were not cheap at £35 but given their quality I expect them to last well justifying the cost. I haved only given 3 stars for Sheerness as I haven't got a clue what that is.

Bought these for a Tern to replace the stock plastic ones, and I am nothing but pleased. The bearings are obviously higher quality, and the folding mechanism both easier to actuate and more sturdy (the piece that locks in is metal and thicker than on the plastic pedals). Something that bugs me about cheap pedals is the spindle is often not quite straight, making just enough wiggle that you can feel it through your shoe. These are dead straight. I'm a heavy guy (~220lbs... and dropping!), and these feel noticeably more solid under my feet. Other reviews mentioned problems with traction; I have none. With normal shoes/sneakers I have no issues wet/dry/standing. The "cleats" along the edge are pronounced enough to do their job. I also appreciate that unlike the stock pedals, these have both a spot for a spanner, and a hex slot on the back for installation. If I had to adjust these on the road I'd have a much better time with my multi-tool's spanner than it's hex key for getting enough purchase. If you're looking to spruce up a folding bike, I can't think of a more impactful way to spend $40 than getting these pedals. I can't speak to their longevity but the ride quality is unquestionably superior.

Son de muy buena construcción y de buen diseño, no te pellizcan la mano por accidente además de que son muy durables y suaves de abrir y cerrar. Los recomiendo ampliamente.

Pros: Looks and feel sturdy and robust. Easy to fold with one push of the button. Cons: Sticks out more than the OEM pedal when folded. Not cheap. I bought this pedal for my Dahon Mariner and hopefully will last long enough for me to use on my future Brompton folding bike. The only thing I don't like about this pedal in comparison to others that cost less is the aesthetic finish and when folded it sticks out a bit more. Not a big deal as it is intended to be abused. Overall I like the pedal and it is in fair to better than when compared to litepro pedals that I bought from AliEx. Fast forward to today May 14, 2023 - I bought my Brompton C line M6L yesterday and this pedal will be mounted on it. The built is so robust that after 2 years of use it still worth putting on a new bike. I highly recommend this pedal.
