CARSON Unisex's CP-60 Pro Series MagniVisor Deluxe Headband LED Lighted Magnifier with 4 Different Lenses, Black, (1.5X, 2X, 2.5X, 3X)

I looked at various other "Cheaper" versions of this type of item and came to the conclusion, that if you spend a little bit more money, you can buy something with good optics,good build quality and it will be comfortable to wear for extended periods of time, both optically and physically. Lenses are clear and the range of magnification is suitable for all tasks that I will ever use them for. (which is electronic soldering and inspection) Detachable light is very useful and you can ever move the light beam when it is mounted to the headband. For the price (I paid £28, but I'm sure you can get it cheaper) I don't think you can go wrong. OK the lenses are not Glass, but Glass would be heavier and less comfortable and if you treat this tool with care, you shouldn't damage the optics badly. For this quality for £28, I find it very difficult to critcise this item.... so I'm not going to. If I find any issues with this product after 1 year of use, I will repost with my findings, but so far so good!.

An excellent head magnifier that's great for any task where hands free magnification is required. I bought mine for jewelry and watch repairs but it would be equally useful for any sort of hobbyist. The supplied lenses are 1.5, 2, 2.5, and 3 X magnification. In all honesty I've found 2 X more than adequate for my needs maintaining enough distance from the subject to use tools. I'd say that the higher magnifications are more for inspection as the item needs to be held very close to the lense. The weight on the head is nice but I don't think it would be very comfortable wearing for extended periods as there is no padding. This However is not an issue for my needs. The adjustment of the headband is simple and quick and the lenses just snap in (BE VERY CAREFULL TO READ THE INSTRUCTIONS REGARDING LENSE REMOVAL AS THEY ARE VERY TIGHT WHEN NEW AND YOU COULD EASILY BREAK THE HINGE MECHANISM). Pull one end first as in my photo. After a few uses the clip system loosens enough to make removal easier. The light is removable also and a blank is supplied to fit onto the visor so it still looks nice. There is a hole on the underside which will allow you to push out the blank or the light when changing between the two or replacing batteries. The light angles and has a magnetic base so can be attached to metal surfaces or stood separately on a table when using. All in all a very good quality item and I'm very happy I purchased this model. It's certainly worth paying the extra for this deluxe model. Highly recommended.

Great piece of kit for working on small items close up. Watches , jewellery etc. great for hobbyists. The variable magnification is good. Only thing that disappointes is the light which is a bit flimsy. The rest of the gear is top quality including the lenses.

I used to use that old trick of putting one pair of glasses on top of another to get the needed closeup but that also required working at very close proximity to the work. Then I graduated to a magnifying lamp which was and still is very useful. Recently, I was watching The Repair Shop on BBC2 and one of the guys on there had one of these head gizmos on and I thought; "yes". I'm retired but still very active in woodworking, my art glass collectiog, my quartz collecting. Involved in this is working with an Antex burner and a Proxxon Tool. Past experience has taught me not to go cheap but with "drop shippers" still being a legal practice it is very easy to pay a high price for cheap rubbish just because you had expected the price to reflect the quality not aomeone ripping you off. Without buying one of each to compare all we have is to do a large search and trust our judgement from past experience. I consider this unit to be well made, well finished, well packaged, comfortable to wear and substantial in build. I need a substantial unit because it has become invaluable in so many ways. Apart from my craft work, woodworking, glassworking, the unit is perfect for examing art glass and quartz and perfect for reading a book or cleaning the workings of my computers etc.

After struggling with various types of lenses and magnifiers (my best so far was a homemade "Jeweler magnifier" which was basically the frontal lens of a large zoom from a broken camera), this one seems to just work. It's easy to use, it doesn't get in the way, leaves both hands free and has a decent build quality. The design is very good. it adjusts easily to whatever head size you have, the lens is small enough that it does not cover all your field of vision (you can still look on the side very easily without putting the lens away). The light is ideally placed. The only things that could be better (but really not essential): Only the max magnification is actually useful in my opinion. The low-magnification lenses are nearly pointless, but I could use an even higher magnification rate, although this one is adequate for reading easily TO-92 chips markings etc. It's good enough but could be better. Excellent product overall.

Despite being more expensive than similar head set magnifiers, I chose the Carson Pro CP-60 product after reading several different highly rated reviews. Not only is it plasticky and feels cheap and tacky, only the 1.5x and 2.0x lenses of 4 magnifier lenses are any use to me at the distance from the item I am working on. The magnification is no better than wearing reading glasses. I wanted magnification and light for sewing in artificial light to sew at the machines, fine hand stitching, unpick small stitches on dark or difficult fabrics, etc. without having to bend closer to the work. I recommend applying a soft fabric padding to the band if wearing the headset for longer than 15 minutes. Finally, for the price of this item, I'd expect it to come with it's own storage case or bag. The only reason for the 2nd star on my review is the detachable light.

Used a lot on project work. Excellent magnifier with swappable lenses giving different magnifications. Bought to replace a cheap Rolson mag that fell apart after a good few years use. The Carson is definitely a better product.

Which for this unit next to useless. I quote the information on inserting the batteries. ‘ Remove LED lamp from magnifier frame ‘ How ? That detail is not supplied. It puts me in mind of the famous cookery book written by Hannah Glasse. Which contained a recipe for hare soup. The first line of that recipe was, ‘ First catch your hare ‘ it might of been more helpful if the product had been supplied in disassembled condition. That way having inserted the batteries. It would be easy to see how the unit was dismantled. By reassembling it.

My wife likes to cross-stitch. It is a hobby that requires a lot of close up work, and the lighting in our living room where she likes to sew is not ideal for this. So, I ordered this magnifier head lamp visor for her. The visor is nicely boxed. Included with the visor are the removable head lamp, a plastic cover for when the lamp is not used, a plastic box containing four hinged lenses, and an instruction sheet. For the most part, the visor is intuitive to use. The head lamp easily pulls up out of the visor, which you have to do to install the needed three AAA batteries (not included). Alkaline batteries are recommended, and they are estimated to provide about 50 hours of light before needed replacement. When it is positioned on the visor, the light from the headlamp can be adjusted directionally so it illuminates exactly where you want the light. The lamp has three LEDs in it, and they provide plenty of light. The head band is easy to adjust for proper fit. It is designed so the entire visor can be lifted upward without removing the head band. Installing and removing the lenses is a bit challenging. I had to use a lot of force to get the lens to pop into its proper place, and it took a lot of force to get it back out, so much that I feared I would break it. After removing the first lens, popping in the second one was significantly easier, so it’s possible that this improves with usage. The lenses each have two small hinges that can easily break if the lenses are not removed correctly. There are warnings in the instruction sheet and also on the box of lenses to pull them out of the visor at an angle, one edge at a time, or the hinges can break. Once it is properly installed, the lens can be lifted upward when needed without removing the visor. After getting everything set up, my wife quickly started using the visor for her cross-stitch project. She absolutely loves it. She says the lighting is perfect, as is the magnification. She says the visor is comfortable to wear. Overall, this is an excellent lighted magnifying visor. It is versatile and easy to use. It is a little pricey when compared with other brands, but I think the build quality is excellent and worth its price. This would be ideal for anyone who does close up work either professionally or for a hobby. It would also be handy for those who need magnification for reading.
