Braun Silk-épil Xelle 5180 Solo Epilator

I was scared when I ordered this, what have I done. But when it arrived it looked so swiz and I had a go. pleasant surprise to find a gel icepack included - must have missed this when ordering. I followed the instructions and guidelines (length of hair, moisturize etc etc) it was more effective than I had hoped for. My first couple of epilator-strokes left a few hairs but I soon learned how to hold it to get maximum effect and then it left none. It was such a satisfying feeling going over the legs a second time without pain - because all the hairs were gone! Of course its painful, but you pluck your eyebrows right? you wouldn't shave them, so why shave your legs? After a while I was so focused on what I was doing and fascinated by the effectiveness of the thing that I felt little pain. waxing is not my thing - one massive ouch that you know is coming in 1, 2....3! This epilator (I've tried other less powerful ones in the past NOT a nice experience) does it as quick as waxing but constant so you you don't risk chicken out as is tempting during the in between-pulls of waxing. I love this machine, quick, effective and no mess. you don't have the anticipation of pain and the mess caused by waxing. A massive plus was the light that shines on the skin surface. great touch. I'm now a happy plucked chicken, its been a couple of hours and the legs are starting to look less red and are back to normal temperature. Braun silk-epil is SO worth the money. Oh an BTW, for those of you complaining of ingrown hairs and redness - this is common but is not the fault of a particular epilator. It is a reaction you skin has from having hair ripped out, which in time, and with caring for your skin such as exfoliating, keeping up with the epilating etc moisturizing and so on, will get better and better.

I've used Silkepil epilators for more than ten years now, and I'm very happy with them. The quality has somewhat declined over the years - every new one I buy lasts a bit less than the previous model, however the new models have other advantages, for example: more tweezers, light for better vision, and useful accessories. This one is just great, does the job, quite fast, as painless as possible, all in all a very good epilator at a very good price. Hope it lasts a bit longer than my previous one though. As about epilating itself, it's a matter of habit. I do it once a week, all year round, and that means that not all hairs are present at any given moment (not all grow at the same rate), which in turn means that it's not so painful if one does it regularly. I even use it under the arm and the bikini line, and the results are definitely worth the slight discomfort.

I bought this to replace my Philips Satinelle epilator which has packed up after 10 months. This epilator is far superior in terms of results and build quality than the Philips. It pulls out more hair more quickly, due to the 40 tweezers I suspect, and the light on it is such a useful feature! It's not easy to see all the hair on your legs due to their fine texture and because of the bathroom light shining at a certain angle. So with the Philips I would always miss quite a few hairs. With the Braun this problem is no longer. My legs feel and look so smooth. I also use this epilator on my armpits and the results are better there too. There is less breakage, so more hair is pulled out by the follicle giving longer lasting results and as it is able to pull out more hair at once it's a lot quicker to use. Again my armpits look smoother. It does come with a massaging attachment to put on top of the epilator, which is designed to ease the pain. I tried it but it reduced the efficiency of the epilator quite a lot so I won't bother using it again. The pain is something you get used to quite quickly and if you use the epilator regularly it's not that painful as you don't have as much hair to epilate. It comes with an ice pack but as I won't be using it as I don't need it, I can not comment on it. But it will probably help with discomfort. It does not come with a shaver attachment but I don't use these anyway so this didn't bother me. I believe you can get a Braun epilator with a shaver attachment though. It seems easy enough to clean with the brush that is provided. NOTE: The cable is for shaver sockets (not European as some have suggested). This is fine for me as I have a shaver socket in my bathroom but some of you may need to buy an adaptor. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is because no product is perfect, especially epilators due to the nature of the job they have to do. But the results of this epilator are the best I've had, it makes epilating so much quicker and leaves your legs and armpits nice and smooth all over. Highly recommend.

Perhaps my hair are very fine, but it takes a lot of time to take hairs out. Not painful.

That's exactly what I've been looking for. It removes even very short 2 mm long hair, which most of the epilators will leave untouched. Entire process is of course painful, but that's nothing new. Cool-down gel attached to the product does make you feel a bit better, but rather after epilation, not before. I personaly warm up my legs with hot shower before using epilator - it hurts less and more hair come out instead of being cut. Don't expect too much from '40 Tweezer Technology' which sounds cool - the head is quite small and despite the amount of tweezers, the epilation is quite slow. And loud of course, as with any other epilator - you won't be able to watch TV at the same time. The device becomes significantly hot after about 1 hour, but if you give it 15 minutes break, it will cool down to bearable temperature. The small light bulb is fine, helps you to find any hair that is left, but that's it. You can't turn it off - at least I haven't find a way to do that. Nice package enables you to keep everything together in one place and tiny brushes attached help you to keep epilator clean. The price of the product is much lower than other available epilators around and it does its job well. I would definitely recommend the device over other much more expensive Philips or Braun models which don't have positive reviews when it comes to short hair. Maybe they have other features - fancy attachments that you can use in a bath, but what do you need them for if you can't get rid of these short hair that are too small to be epilated, but too long to be invisible.

With 40 tweezers (instead of about 20 generally), I find it more efficient than my previous epilator. It removes every hairs, even the short ones and it is definitely fast. It does not hurt if you are used to it; and I think it would be quite gentle for a beginner. It is a bit noisy, as all epilators are, but nothing terrible. The light is really useful to make sure that no hair is missed. Even if there is no battery, it is no problem considering that the cord is long enough. The shape is not perfect for the armpits and the bikini but it is still ok. For the price, this is a great epilator for those who want to remove hairs quickly and efficiently and who are more interested in removing legs hairs.

Up until now I owned a Braun epilator, a very simple one, that I used every time I needed, for more than 17 years. Razors never touched my legs since I started using it. I was very very satisfied with this kind of epilation, and with the epilator itself. But, after 17 years of regular use (once every 30-40 days, and only at parts of my legs and thighs), I decided I needed a new one-not because it completely faulted, but because its performance had decreased a bit (that's only natural, though). I decided to buy a simple epilator (BRAUN was the only choice for me), as I knew it would be OK. The little light that existed in the new one wasn't necessary for me when I bought it, but it was a good price, so I went for it anyway. As it turns out, my new, simple, epilator does the job more than perfect for me, and the light is more than useful. I am very satisfied with my purchase, and would recommend it to anyone who has previously tried epilation with this kind of gismo before. It's perfect. Yey!

I don't like pain at all in any shape and form so I try this one and the pain was too much to take it. but in other hand if you are crazy and mad about pain, so this product is for you rather suffer every month with the waxing instead
