This is actually the second time I've bought this cover. I got it a year back I think. I wasn't ready for it then since I was still in an A5 mostly. I've since moved to field notes and I own a couple of different covers, including the Lochby Pocket Journal Cover, and a Hide and Drink cover as well. I decided to give this one a go again and see how I liked it now. I'm so glad I did. I love loading it up with a couple of field notes and an assortment of watercolor and sketch paper I sewed together to make my own field notes sketchbook. I really went back and forth between this size and the passport. I think I'd really enjoy the passport but I'd have to modify my field notes or buy passport sizes books from Midori. At least with this size my options are much wider. When I got this one the leather was a little dry so I hit it with some mink oil conditioner with beeswax and lanoline, I let it set up for about 15 mins and it really helped soften it a bit. The color darkened significantly but I knew that would happen. I love that they put the strap on the spine instead of the back like the TNs, huge win there. I also like that they used a toggled elastic strap instead of a knot so it has less footprint when writing. The leather is thick and sturdy, I personally would like it to be a little softer but that'll happen with time. I write mostly on my desk but it handles just fine in my lap or hand while standing in a meeting. I would highly recommend this to anyone thinking of trying the TN but not ready to commit to that cost or you want some quality of life upgrades for a cheaper price, or you also like the pocket size over the passport. Great product, especially for the price. Looking forward to loving this for a long time.

What a beautiful little notebook! 5/5 stars for presentation, honest advertising, and quality. Presentation: it comes in a little linen “slipcase”—like a bag, but no drawstring—which is inside a neat little cardboard box. The linen cover and the box are fitted to the notebook so it’s not sliding around inside. It would make a good gift. Honest advertising: as promised, it comes with one insert and an extra elastic band to hold up to three total. (I used some of my own elastic string and some extra inserts I bought so bought to try it out with four—they fit, but three works better.) Quality: the insert is made of nice paper with a dot grid pattern. Not pure white, it’s more very pale cream, with a brown Kraft paper exterior. The notebook cover itself is very nice. Mine came with no scratches or scuffs (first pic). It WILL scuff, but I like that—I bent the leather a few times right away to give it a more weathered look (second pic). Over time, I’m sure it will wear beautifully. There is a subtle, sweetish leather scent if you sniff it. No strong or chemical-y smell. A couple final notes: 1. The photos don’t do the cover justice. I got the light brown and it’s a beautiful, warm, rich color. 2. I am a petite woman and this fits in the back pocket of my skinny jeans (albeit with a couple inches poking out). 3. It fits 2-3 field note size (3.5” x 5.5”) notebook inserts perfectly. 4. It *looks* quite durable; however, as I only just got it, I didn’t feel I could accurately give it a durability rating yet, so I did not. All in all, I am very pleased with my purchase. The quality for the price is phenomenal, and I’m excited to take this charming little notebook on all my adventures. :)

It's a solid notebook cover. The leather is adequate thick for what it costs, may not be the smoothest but the grainy texture helps give it more patina faster and show less scoffs and marks. Clean edges and cut well, that's important when you handle the edges and corners daily. I apply some Bickmore leather cleaner/protector all over including the edges. It darkens a bit but not enough for me to care. Fits 3 notebooks, I stick a thick one in alongside a smaller thin one. The included elastic band is simple, I think I lost the spare but if it breaks or whatever, I may just buy a second one to deal with it or use some clips to secure notebooks. It's not the posh traveler's notebook but I think most people will be happy with either. Don't worry about what covers your ideas, jot it down on anything. Related comment but refill blanks are so cheap so you can easily get a few of these to stick in places.

I really like my leather cover! I started by ditching my wallet. Then I grabbed a cheap notebook from amazon (the ones that are 2 for $10/ 3.5 by 5.5) just to test myself and see if I was going to stick with it as a wallet and notebook for on the go notes. I did. I've been doing more of an "analogical and less digital lifestyle." And then my setup evolved. It went from simple to a bit more personalized, but trying to stay away from complex, if you know what I mean. So I wanted a leather cover just for that smell, look and feel. And this was the best I found. Nice price and checked all my boxes. It fits the cheap notebook and it also fits my Pocket Leuchtturm that I really love. It's not a super perfect fit but the imperfect is what give this setup the sentiment I think, and it works nice. Sits almost flush with it and I'm even able to add a one more field notes memo book or two for variety. I included some pics (this leather cover and the Leuchtturm A6) to illustrate what I'm saying. Overall, I quickly learned to love this leather cover.

I wanted something to hold multiple FN-sized notebooks, and this fit the bill. It is well made, and I've been using it for a few months now. The leather is very nice, and it will easily hold two or three FN notebooks without issue. If there is a problem with this item, it is that I find the cylindrical elastic bands too thick at time, that is, they impede writing near the inner margin of the page, whereas the official TN elastics (flat, more like a regular rubber band) don't seem to get in my way as much. But Midori / TN don't make a notebook in this size. A worthy addition to the collection.

Unless I lose it, I'm going to use this for the rest of my life. I bought this with the insert kit, which includes a sturdy cardboard folder with card slots and a plastic insert with a zip pouch on one half and card sleeves on the other. Here's what I love about it: - It is my wallet, notebook, pen case, and paper ephemera collector all in one. No more loose change, pens, and receipts rattling around in my bag. No more heavy notebook to carry around. - It keeps me organized. All of my receipts and shopping cards are in the front cardboard folder, my library card, cash, and random ephemera are in the back cardboard folder, and my frequently-used cards are stored in the very back of the card sleeve. No more digging and flipping for what I need! - It's well-designed. I think back on all the wallets I've had that used those stupid card sleeves which allowed a scant quarter inch of card to peek out of the top so you'd have to guess which card it was, mash your thumb into it and push or use your fingers like forceps to extract them. THOSE DAYS ARE OVER. With this, my cards are secure, clearly displayed, and easy to take out and put back. - It can hold a lot. You could turn this into a Costanza wallet if you wanted to. I have something in every storage spot but there's still plenty of room for additional inserts, notebooks, cards, pens, etc. - It's light and small. I had the full-sized Traveler's Notebook for about two years before I conceded it hadn't helped me achieve my goal of shaving weight from my everyday bag. The size of the notebook and inserts meant carrying around more leather and paper than I needed to. This size is perfect. It fits the smallest bag I own and I no longer feel like I'm lugging rocks around after a day of adventuring. The single notebook holds all the paper I need for the day. - I can freely indulge my love of Field Notes and their knockoffs. I love those cool little notebooks but couldn't justify the cost because they kept getting destroyed in my bag. This setup gives them a home, keeps them nice-looking, and provides a sturdy base for writing and drawing. This is one of those objects that becomes a close friend. I've had mine for half a year now. We've traveled together, gone to class and museums together, hiked together. It feels so familiar and cozy that I can sit down anywhere, open to a blank page, and immediately settle into a creative headspace. It always looks good but is understated enough in appearance that it doesn't draw attention to itself when I take it out. The leather patina only gets more beautiful with age and use because it records our history together. If it lasts as long as I suspect it will, I will never have to throw another wallet into a landfill again. This wallet made my life better in so many ways. It's one of best investments I've ever made.

I have the A5 version of Newestor’s leather travel journal and have loved it! But I wanted a smaller version that could accommodate 3.5” x 5.5” notebooks, of which I have a huge box. I have a name brand passport sized Traveler’s Notebook but it’s too short for these notebooks so was thrilled to discover this travel journal that fits them perfectly. It is beautifully made, lovely finished edges, and smells so good! SO pleased with this purchase -- I will carry it with me everywhere since it easily fits in my purse. It comes with one attached stretch cord and an extra loose one. With those I was able to configure it to hold 3 notebooks, a cardboard folder insert, and plastic zip sleeve insert. Just perfect for all my journaling/note-taking needs on the go.

Beautiful, simple. Real leather. I hope to get years of use out of this. I have no doubt it will last.

Non mi aspettavo un prodotto così bello per il prezzo pagato! Avevo letto alcune recensioni non proprio positive ed ero dubbiosa ... Ma ho dovuto ricredermi. La pelle è di ottima qualità, profumatissima, di spessore adeguato ed il colore è meraviglioso. Gli elastici tengono molto bene , il quaderno puntinato di buona fattura . La confezione ben fatta. Sono rimasta piacevolmente sorpresa. Consiglio a chi ama la semplicità e la comodità di un taccuino da portare sempre con se (dimensioni perfette per tasca/borsa)

Leder Notizbuch Test 2021 Mir war langweilig. Es war Corona. Ich brauchte ein neues Notizbuch. Platz 3 von 30, Newestor A6 Taschen-Reisebuch Wenn Sie noch Hilfe bei der Entescheidungsfindung brauchen, schauen Sie sich gerne den kompletten Notizbuch Test an. Da man die Test-Matrix bei den Amazon-Bildern vermutlich nicht gut erkennt, googeln Sie einfach "Der große Notizbuch Test 2021 - Roman Maininger". Dort findet man die gesamte Übersicht mit allen 30 getesteten Ledernotizbüchern. || INTRO Mitte 2021, Läden besuchen ging nur eingeschränkt, also geht’s zu Amazon. Leider gibt es online hunderte Notizbücher mit super Bewertungen. Also habe ich mir einfach alle bestellt die mir gefallen haben. Eigentlich waren es 36 Notizbücher, da ich von den Marken Veesun, Belfast und X17 mehrere Alternativen schön fand und mich online nicht entscheiden konnte, aber insgesamt eben 30 Marken. Preislich lagen diese zwischen 10 und 50 Euro, ab und zu hat man ja das die günstigen Alternativen irgendwie die Besten sind. War also ein teurer Spaß, aber ich habe alles respektvoll geöffnet, angesehen und wieder gut und ungenutzt verpackt, was ich nicht behalten wollte. Hat mich einige Tage gekostet (meine Frau fand es nicht so toll), es gab jedoch einen klaren, und das tatsächlich auch mit großem Abstand, eindeutigen Sieger und ich hatte einen Heidenspaß beim Rumprobieren :) Da es sich um ein Ledernotizbuch handelt, war der Grundsatz eine wiederverwendbare Hülle zu finden. Hierbei kaufe ich nur einmal diese Hülle und tausche die Einlagen innen aus, da Nachhaltigkeit in 2021 doch mittlerweile eine gewisse Rolle spielt. Interessanterweise gab es Ledernotizbücher mit schöner Hülle aber unglaublich unpraktischem Nutzen, oder gutem Nutzen aber sehr billiger Hülle. Alles erdenkliche war im Test zu finden. Aber sehen Sie selbst. || REZENSION | Qualität Eine der schönsten Hüllen im Test. Sehr schöne Haptik, fühlt sich sehr wertig an und hat eine schöne dunkle braune Farbe, riecht auch nach Leder. Eine schöne Dicke und natürlich Echtleder in A6. Das Papier ist in Ordnung, hat eine gute Dicke. Etwas dünner als bei den Testsiegern, aber gut zu beschreiben und hat einen angenehmen weißton. Der Newestor A6 schließt sich per Gummi und hält auch die Einlagen per Gummi im Inneren. Es fühlt sich mittlmäßig an, besser als viele andere im Test, aber zum Beispiel qualitativ schlechter als Testieger X17. Die Papiereinlage ist dennoch sehr stabil eingehängt. EIn Manko ist jedoch, dass das Verschlussgummi beim Newestor in die Hülle reibt und diese dadurch verbiegt. | Nutzwert Das Notizbuch liegt flach auf, ist per Gummiband gut verschließbar, und hat eine gute Größe geschlossen wie aufgeschlagen. Einlagen in A6 passen gut hinein und sind gut beschreibbar. Er ist allgemein sehr klein und kompakt, transportabel, gut einhändig zu beschreiben, sehr handlich, und liegt flach auf. Der Newestor kommt ohne Zubehör. Man kann normale Einlagen in A6 nutzen, von Midori, Moleskine etc. Das ist sehr praktisch. Einfach zu tauschen und durch das Extra Gummi kann man (theoretisch) bis zu drei Hefte nutzen. Die Seiten sind dann aber nicht mehr ganz so gut zu beschreiben, weil die Gummis Innen viel Platz einnehmen und das mittlere Heft hängt dann aus der Hülle raus (wie es bereits andere Rezensionen erwähnt haben) was zu Beschädigungen führen kann. | Nachhaltigkeit Made in China und für die Größe bringt er leider auch ganz schön viel Verpackung mit (siehe Fotos). Also Pappkarton, Folie und Täschchen. Das ist süß, habe aber noch niemanden gesehen der diese nutzt, ist also ein wenig unnötig. Also eher ein Minuspunkt, da es einfach zu viel Verpackung ist. Ich habe grundsätzlich ein Problem mit Produkten aus China. Ich meine nicht die Qualität, sondern die Umstände, unter denen produziert wird und ich meine den weiten und nicht ökologischen Transportweg. Chinesische Produkte – das gilt auch für Produkte aus Indien – werden unter mäßigen Umweltauflagen produziert. Ich möchte nicht wissen, wie es im Umfeld der chinesischen Gerberei aussieht und ich will auch nicht wissen, unter welchen Bedingungen die Menschen dort arbeiten und wie sie bezahlt werden. Leider gibt es wenige Lederprodukte, die nicht aus Fernost kommen. | Emotion Also man muss schon sagen es fühlt sich sehr schön an. Da liegt es mit dem Testsieger und den anderen Top Notizbüchern irgendwo vorne. Eine schöne Lederhülle, sehr kompaktes Design, es riecht nach Leder, also er liegt auch gut in der Hand. Wirklich gut. | Preis Mit gut 18 Euro eigentlich ein fairer Preis. Es ist China-Fernost-Ware, aber für eine schöne Lederhülle, kompakt und gut verarbeitet absolut ein guter Deal. || FAZIT Der Newestor kommt zwar aus China, aber für eine schöne Lederhülle, im kompakten Design, gut verarbeitet und zu beschreiben, absolut ein super Ledernotizbuch Was mich stört, dass das Gummi bald wohl ausleiert und außerdem in das Leder "schneidet". Das ist beim Testsieger besser gelöst. Allgemein sind sich diese sehr ähnlich, wobei der X17 im Vergleich zum Newestor einfach qualitativ besser wirkt. Persönlich ziehe ich daher den Gesamtsieger vor (Siehe Vergleichsfotos), dieser ist preislich sehr ähnlich, ist qualitativ aber besser, das Leder ist stabiler und das Gummiband langlebiger, außerdem liegt flach auf dem Tisch wenn geschlossen, hier wölbt sich der Newestor (siehe Fotos) wenn geschlossen, und man unterstützt irgendwie eine deutsche Firma. || VIEL ERFOLG Ich habe das Richtige für mich gefunden, jeder muss jedoch für sich selbst bestimmen was das Beste ist. Ich schlage vor, entscheiden Sie sich erst für eine Größe (A5 oder A6), dann die Lederhüllen-Art (Echtleder, Recyceltes oder PU Leder), welche Bindung das Papier hält (Einstecken, Ringe oder Gummi) und zum Schluss woher es kommt wenn es relevant ist für Sie . . . dann sollten Sie eine gute Wahl treffen können.
