One women's cause against the wilds of the USA
I tend to like these sort of films anyway but Reese finds she wants to walk a thousand miles across the USA and sets out with what she thought she needed but although she had a very difficult job in lifting the back pack she sets out only to find a problem on her first day! The gas for her cooker was the wrong connection so she has to survive on cold food as best she can!:along the way she encounters a few problems and gets stalked by what could be the last encounter of he'd life! You need to watch the movie to find out how it comes about and does she survive the encounter intact or not😃 all jn all a good tale of the wilds of the USA a bit slow to start but winds up been a good watch probably not everyone's cup of tea if your looking for action blood and gore this is not the one for you but it's a true story of a woman out on her own trying to find herself she has some health issues also along the way I think day one I would have given up but she carries on and I had to admire the strength of the woman many men would not have completed the trek

Beautiful and Inspiring
'Wild' follows young woman Cheryl (Reese Witherspoon) as she sets out on a one thousand mile hike around the pacific trail in order to 'fix' herself from past traumas which we learn along the way in flashbacks. What a beautiful and nice film this was! I loved it and found it very inspiring that I am now wanting to do this hike myself. The plot of this film may seem boring at first (a woman walking) but a lot happens in it and Cheryl comes across many challenges on her walk such as dangerous men and a rattle snake. The best thing was the gorgeous cinematography and directing as it just looked beautiful and at times relaxing. Reese Witherspoon gives a fantastic realistic performance that makes you think she is a real person. I would say that at times it can be a little boring, but even then it is always more relaxing and peaceful. Overall, a beautiful heartfelt drama with great cinematography and an inspiring storyline which makes you want to go hiking yourself.

Great film
If you're a couple and looking for a film you'll both enjoy, I think this would tick everybodies boxes, be it maybe in different ways. Of course, that means if you're a single male or a group of males or vice versa female(s), it should have its own appeal. There's no intention to stereotype on my part. In fact the opposite. I think that's one of the things that's good about it. It just means you're not torn between a so called superficial chick flick and some macho rubbish action movie pumped full of violence and testosterone. A film that only one of you may not enjoy. It has lots of elements in it and is a very intelligent movie. I loved it. I saw it at the cinema, I watch it on TV, I bought the video, watched it again and then gave the video a friend. She said oh goody, I've not seen this yet, and I've heard it is really good.Yes it is, buy it. I'm sure you'll like it.Certainly a very inspiring, life affirming story. Well directed and Reese Witherspoon is my favourite actor. She comes accross as an accomplished person in this film.

Wildly successful
This is about the DVD. I did not read the book. It's an excellent movie. I've always been interested on films based real people or events and they are not all successful. Another hiking film was "A walk in the woods" which was a great book and a mediocre film. Every aspect of this movie is crafted superbly. It keeps away from clichés and easy options, from sensation and violence. The story is well-told and illustrated amazingly well both on and off the trail. It captures something of the mountain wilderness, the challenges and the rewards, in simple and touching ways, and that's hard to do. The Extras on the DVD are wonderful. Loved it.

Great book - film could never do it justice.
So glad I read the book first, as this is what prompted me to buy the film on DVD. The film had to tell Cheryl's "back story" in a series of flashbacks which would have been very confusing to anyone without a prior knowledge of her motivation for undertaking this epic walk.Reese Witherspoon is a fine actress, but this must have been a very difficult story to adapt for the screen and she deserves credit for recognisingits potential when she bought the film rights. Likewise Nick Hornby, for his screen play. However, the film was ultimately a disappointment as it could never hope to be as comprehensive as the book itself, which I found a very satisfying read..
