Good sturdy and heavy. Was worried this was too heavy to start with. Never used a plunge saw before but ultimately I’ve used by plunging first off the edge and then sawing down the track. My first attempt at plunging ‘on’ the wood caused kick back. Later read in the instructions that you need an anti-kick back part which is sold separately! And sadly quite expensive as a separate accessory tool item also on Amazon. But without this was no problem for what I was building and therefore used the saw like a normal circular saw with the blade fully down before cutting. Built under stairs cupboards so a multitude of different sized timber and MDF boards. All cut smoothly and with no scorch marks. Had to tighten the blade as after a few days cutting the blade was spinning longer to slow and stop. A quick tighten with the Allen key and back to perfect again. The double track is a good length but extra can be purchased if needed. But I worked around using the 1.4 metre track which at no point did I need to clamp. The track gripped to the MDF just fine for perfect straight cuts. I vacuumed the bottom of the track with the brush attachment to keep any sawdust away and ensure the grip maintained. Overall very happy (but as this is the first plunge saw I am merely confirming happy with price and quality) I can’t compare to other products.

Looks like a decent bit of kit, but DPD damaged the packaging and lost the rail connector, effectively rendering the saw unusable out of the box. As expected, Amazon provide no meaningful support for this product, and contacting the seller was effectively impossible due to the chatbot barrier. I didn’t want the hassle of returning the entire unit, given its size and weight. Instead, I’ve had to order the accessory kit containing the missing connector at my own expense just to get the saw operational. The saw itself appears solid, but the fulfilment and after-sales experience have been poor.

Have used this saw for engineered flooring and it works really well. It’s sturdy and makes the cuts straight. The only criticism is that the guide rails (2) are too short. Ideally it would be good to have 3 of them so that it is over 2m long allowing for door trimming etc.

Absolute brilliant plunge saw with track and for the price compared to the fretol one you can’t knock it for quality for the price . And as always swift delivery by Amazon.

This is my first plunge saw. I've found it easy to use. It fits the track well, with once adjusted, no shimmy, giving a very straight cut. Blade replacement is easy (had to insert a special blade to cut compact laminate). No track clamps are supplied with the set. I used a pair from another track saw I had. Would recommend buying track clamps if you don't already have some.

Using this is easy but by far the worst part of it is the cord. The cord is only 1.5 meters long not even long enough to go the whole track length it provides you. WHHHYYY??? it would cost them maybe extra 50 pence to include 3 meter cable. This was the first thing I did was put a 5 meter cable on it because it was so inconvenient with the current cable on it. Replacing the cable properly was a major problem as well had to disassemble the entire saw Tracks are ok quality. The replaceable rubber end on them was put on terribly. Not straight and were too long hand to manually cut them short else they'd overlap and create a bump in the track and the saw would not glide properly Overall the rest is ok it does the job. The depth stop is pretty bad as well if you push too hard the stop doesn't stop it it continues to click down. I know i saw bad things about it but for the price its ok. it cuts straight lines which is what its design to do. Just a few small tweaks and quality control items would bump it up IMO

Good enough ! I've got some have jobs with it and weel done. Just the track I'd say could be better. It holds the saw at the joint, so it could be better made.

J'obtiens une précision de coupe à 1mm des cotes portées sur le bois quand on prend le temps de bien positionner les réglettes. A la première utilisation faites une coupe sur 1 ou 2 cm du bord a couper pour couper le caoutchouc de la réglette cela fait vous aurez le point de référence exact pour vos prochaines coupes. Un petit conseil supplémentaire ne laissez pas les barrettes de liaison sur les rails si vous ne les utilisez pas, les vis ont une fâcheuse tendance à ce dévisser toutes seules avec les vibrations si elles ne sont pas serrées fortement et vous risquez de les perdre. Sur les15 premiers jours j'ai passé plus de 7 heures a couper du bois massif avec cette scie basculante et je suis enchanté de la précision de ses coupes et de son aisance d'utilisation. Ich habe mir die Scheppach PL55 als erste Tauchsäge zugelegt – mit dem Ziel, einen Hühnerstall zu bauen und später den Dachausbau anzugehen. Nach intensiver Nutzung über mehrere Wochen kann ich ein sehr positives Fazit ziehen. Hier mein detaillierter Eindruck: ⸻ Verarbeitung & Ausstattung Die PL55 macht auf den ersten Blick einen soliden Eindruck. Die Verarbeitung ist für den Preis absolut in Ordnung – nichts wackelt oder wirkt billig. Besonders gefällt mir, dass bereits zwei Führungsschienen (je 700 mm) im Lieferumfang enthalten sind – damit kommt man direkt auf 1,4 Meter und kann viele Platten ohne Nachkauf sauber durchtrennen. Der Anschlag, das Sägeblatt (24 Zähne) und das Zubehör sind für den Einstieg ebenfalls gut nutzbar. Natürlich ist das alles nicht auf Profi-Niveau, aber für ambitionierte Heimwerker reicht es locker. ⸻ Schnittqualität & Leistung Die Säge geht sauber durch OSB, Spanplatte, Multiplex und sogar Massivholz – vorausgesetzt, man lässt sich Zeit und überfordert sie nicht mit Gewalt. Der Schnitt ist gerade, ausrissarm und präzise, besonders in Kombination mit der Führungsschiene. Auch beim Dachausbau (Dämmung verkleiden, Latten zuschneiden, Gipsfaserplatten ablängen) hat sie zuverlässig gearbeitet. Beim Hühnerstall war viel Zuschnitt auf engem Raum nötig – auch hier war die kompakte Bauform und der Tauchmechanismus ein echter Vorteil. ⸻ Funktion & Handhabung • Der Tauchschnitt funktioniert präzise – ideal für Ausschnitte in Platten (z. B. Fenster oder Klappen beim Hühnerstall). • Die Schnitttiefe lässt sich genau einstellen, auch mit Skala für Tauchschnitte. • Der Neigungswinkel bis 45° ist praktisch, auch wenn man beim Gehrungsschnitt etwas Nacharbeit einkalkulieren muss. • Die Führungsschienen liegen rutschfest und präzise – bei langen Schnitten sollte man sie aber ggf. mit Klebeband oder Schraubzwingen sichern. ⸻ Absaugung Die Staubabsaugung funktioniert überraschend gut – in Kombination mit einem Werkstattsauger bleibt der Arbeitsplatz angenehm sauber. Beim Freihandsägen ohne Schiene kann etwas mehr Staub austreten, aber das ist zu verschmerzen. ⸻ Praxistest: Hühnerstall & Dachgeschoss Hühnerstall: • Diverse Materialien (OSB, Siebdruckplatte, Rauspund) problemlos gesägt • Ausschnitte für Fenster, Türen etc. mit Tauchschnitt einfach umzusetzen • Kompakte Form = optimal in beengter Werkstatt Dachgeschoss: • Saubere, lange Schnitte in Dämmplatten und Holz • Gipsfaserplatten millimetergenau zugeschnitten • Dank Schienen extrem gerade Ergebnisse, kein Nacharbeiten nötig ⸻ Fazit Die Scheppach PL55 hat mich echt überzeugt. Sie ist ideal für ambitionierte Heimwerker, die Wert auf präzise Schnitte und Flexibilität legen, aber nicht gleich zu Festool oder Mafell greifen wollen. Man bekommt hier viel Leistung für vergleichsweise wenig Geld, besonders mit dem mitgelieferten Schienensystem. Für Projekte wie Stallbau, Möbelbau oder Ausbauarbeiten ist sie absolut empfehlenswert. ⸻ Kleiner Tipp: Ein feineres Sägeblatt (z. B. 48 Zähne) lohnt sich, wenn man öfter beschichtete Platten oder hochwertige Hölzer sägt – damit wird das Schnittbild noch besser.
