Review: Protects like a charm! - After a mysterious nick appeared in the paint of my Golden Legend of Zelda 3DS XL, I knew it was time to find a case to protect it and I knew desertcart was the place to go. Lo and behold, my searches brought me to this product. At first sight, it was appealing because of the decent price and the fact that it was clear - the best option for showcasing my 3DS. So, after reading a few reviews, I bought it. When it arrived in the mail a few days later, I was not disappointed one bit. It comes in two pieces and it's material lives up to the "Duraflexi" name. It feels smooth, and has flex to it, but I have no doubt that it can protect my 3DS in the rare case that I drop it. Besides protecting my baby, another one of my concerns was the feel of the case once it was on the 3DS. I can't stand when a case doesn't fit snugly to my device. This case did not have that problem. It fits snugly to the device, and I have yet to have any problems with it moving around while I am playing. If you look at the provided pictures from the manufacturer, you see that they have included pictures of it on the Zelda 3DS XL; these pictures are very true to the item you are getting. Finally, as far as how it feels when on the 3DS, I personally like it. As expected, it adds some bulk to the device, but personally I like the feel of it. I have fairly small hands, and even I feel this gives me a better hold on my 3DS. It has been designed very well, and the added bulk does not interfere with closing the 3DS. It's safe to say that this is a very nice product, and at such a good price too. I can't see it standing up to being run over by a car, and I wouldn't recommend tossing it at a wall, but I can't see any case standing up to such trials. But will it protect your precious 3DS XL from everyday wear and tear, and light to moderate impact? Yes. Review: A high level of protection without the collateral damage! - This case is simply fantastic! Having recently purchased a limited edition 3DS XL, I wanted to make sure I did everything I could to protect my investment from the hours of game play I was going to put it through and overall wear and tear. I had initially looked at a Nerf 3DS XL Armor case, but after reading several reviews about the collateral damage that occurred with the use of those cases, I decided I'd look for something a little less damage-inflicting. This is the case I eventually settled on and I have never looked back. This thing is sweet! Awesome features about this case: - It's a soft, silicone case. - It's hinges are soft and flexible, meaning no scratches on your console during the install. - It's got flap inserts that fit into holes on the XL, meaning a secure fit around your console. - It's got high-quality cutouts for the charger port, stylus and camera. No excess plastic! - It's got the Nintendo 3DS XL logo on the front, giving it a more "official" look. - Can't beat the price! I really can't find a real fault with this case, but I'll admit that it's not for everyone. Only two colors and not nearly as protective as some other cases on the market, but I'll take those trade-offs to make sure my console stays scratchless. When combined with my desertcartBasics Carrying Case, I don't foresee any damage coming to my XL anytime soon.

Pretty good.
It fits really snug. I was hoping it would be a little loose. I do have a cute skin underneath the clear TPU case, and It's wrinkling up the skin. Also the bottom case, the nubs doesn't fit on the back of my 3DS into the holes like they should. It stays on though nonetheless. It makes the 3DS a little bulky and a bit heavy. The bulkyness and heavyness doesn't bother me. But If you think that will bother you. I suggest not buying it. Everything is easy to get to nonetheless. The stylus, SD card slot, volume, and everything else in between. It also protects well, and it's easy to take off, and put on. I can also still see my adorable skin underneath. I give it 3 out of 5 because of the skin wrinkling, and the bottem case nubs doesn't fit into those 2 holes where the gamecard slot is located on the left and right side on the back of the system. Edit: I still use my TPU. It's been 4 years. The TPU case has tarnished. It has a yellowish color to it now. But it still fits great. I can still see my skin underneath it, and now the little nubs on the back fits into the slots. Yes it's been 4 years. But I can say the case is pretty good to have if you don't mind the tarnish that will happen later on after normal use.

For showing off!
This is a neat little protective case for your 3DS XL system. It's a sort of lightweight plastic shell that snaps on to the system and doesn't add much weight to it, nor does it add much bulk to it either. The two pieces literally just slide on, the bottom has two "hooks" that go into the crevasses at the back of your system. Has holes or nooks all around that allow you access to everything from the camera to the stylus to the charge port. This case will NOT protect your 3DS from drops...so if you're that sort of person that drops your 3DS a lot, you will want something a bit more heavy duty. All this thing does is protect your 3DS from nicks and scratches. If you don't care about such things you can likely just skip this purchase altogether. It is perfect for showing off limited edition systems. I own the Mario & Luigi system and it looks great in this case, although the imprinted "Nintendo 3DS XL" on the top piece does cover up the Mario & Luigi graphic a bit, overall it still looks nice and there's no mistaking what kind of system it is. If you own a regular system you probably don't care about this in all likelihood. For the price it looks great, hence it is like I said for showing off. Just don't expect it to save your system if you fumble it around all the time.

Just what I wanted.
I bought this to protect my Nintendo 3DS XL Nintendo controller edition (I have no idea what it's actually called). I was going to get a Nerf one but found out that the XL versions have a history of scratching 3DS XL's and I didn't want that at all so I searched around and bought this instead. Pros 1. It covers the top and bottom to satisfaction. The design on my 3DS XL is protected and most of the surface area is protected. The parts that aren't protected aren't parts that touch a table or anything. 2. It's easy to put on. The top slides on. The bottom slides on and hooks into the two square holes at the top which makes it feel secure. 3. All the ports, holes, and other things are accessible including the buttons, stylus, game cartridge, lights WiFi slider, 3D slider, volume, headphone jack, and lanyard hole. 4. It's clear enough to where I can still see and enjoy the special design on my 3DS. 5. It's inexpensive. 6. The plastic of the TPU makes it easier to grip the 3DS XL. 7. As a fun, unforeseen benefit. When I hold my 3DS XL, I consistent (on accident of course) turn the volume up with my palm as I'm holding it. Thanks to the case, I now hold my DS slightly lower than before and I no longer accidentally hit the volume slider. 8. I also like that the inside of the DS is protected by a lip. When I close the DS, the lips of the case meet instead of the inside of my 3DS. 9. It still fits my AmazonBasics 3DS carrying case so I don't have to buy another one of those. Cons 1. It provides more scratch and dirt protection than drop and shock protection. You'll need to pick up something with a little more girth and bulk to protect from drops. This case also doesn't protect the bumpers or hinge at all so if you do decide to drop it, at least try to drop it on any other edge or side than the one with the hinge and bumper buttons. 2. It is more of a frosted clear. This isn't a huge deal because I can still see the design on the 3DS clearly but it is not "crystal clear" or anything like that. It's definitely frosted. Make sure you wipe your device down really well before sticking it in there and do make sure you take the case off and dust/clean the 3DS and the case every now and then. Since it is so open at the top, dust can still get in there over time and mess with things. It's not a huge deal but it's something to keep in mind. I've never owned a limited edition of a game console before so I wanted to make sure I protected this one at least a little bit. At the very least the design on the front (the original NES controller) from getting messed up. This case does that and that's what I wanted so 5 stars out of me.

Review of the Nintendo 3DS XL Duraflexi Protector - Clear
I got this cover after looking at, I think, every Nintendo 3DS XL protector on Amazon. It has the most and the best reviews of everything I've seen, and I am not dissatisfied at all. I have a special edition 3DS XL, so I wanted to still be able to see the design without the risk of damaging it. This cover lets me do that very well. Now I will list, in my opinion, the pros and cons of the Nintendo 3DS XL Duraflexi Protector - Clear Pros: 1. It feels very good to hold; it provides about the same amount of grip as the 3DS XL without a cover. 2. It hugs the body well, but it is still easy to remove. 3. All of the buttons and slots including the SD card, headphone jack, stylus, cameras, wrist strap, and game card slots are cut out and easily accessible. 4. It protects my 3DS XL from scratches and mild bumps. Cons: 1. It is not completely clear. From most angles the protector is not easily noticeable, but from others it dulls the color to be a little more whitish. 2.It has a logo branded on it in the bottom left corner of the top part that says Nintendo 3DS XL. Not a big deal, but it might get in the way of some designs. 3. It does not cover the shoulder buttons, or any of the hinge. 4. I have to take off the bottom part in order to use my circle pad pro, which is very desirable to play some games such as Resident Evil Revelations. This would likely be true for a cradle charger as well, but I don't have one of those. Also, I did say it was easy to remove, but if your nails are short like mine are today, the tabs that hold the bottom onto the 3DS XL are a little annoying to pry off the back. To conclude my review, I must say that I paid about $26 for this, and I don't regret it. It feels like a quality product, and protects my 3DS XL from scratches and dings when I throw it in my back pack.

What I was looking for, with one slight problem
I ordered this clear case on preorder because I heard a lot of good things about the Hori TPU clear case and I wanted one, figured this was the same thing, just a US release. It fits great, it looks good and shows my Zelda 3DS XL well, perfect protection. But, I have a slight problem with the small edges left over from production. My hands hurt to hold it because these almost paper thin edges cut into them. This is really disappointing, I want to use it, but it's hurting my palms. I'm tempted to purchase the other Hori brand one in hopes that it doesn't have the same production lines, but I doubt it's any different. I may just end up sanding it a bit...I hope it will fix the problem.

Incredible case for a good price
I was initially going to purchase the clear protector as I was worried the blue would look rubbish on my Animal Crossing 3DS XL. I have to say after owning this case for a few weeks now, I'm in love. First off, I'd have to recommend this case to anyone looking to protect their XL from damage from its own flaws. I owned my XL for a few months before I noticed that the bezel holding the bottom screen had been leaving scratches on the top half of my device. Now I don't think this occurs if you're being extra careful with your XL, closing it slowly and cautiously should prevent this scratch to occur at all. So I'm rambling, the point was that you'll notice the first time using this case, the edges of the case add an extra section of padding for the XL. Secondly, if you're like me, you may play your XL for hours on end. In my case my hands will always eventually produce oil and it's annoying to realize this since I like to keep my device in as good of condition as possible. So in short, this case will prevent most cases of staining your XL with fingerprints/ oily hands. Yes, your fingerprints show up on the case, but that's way better than having it on the device itself. As I said in the beginning (before rambling on) the case (the blue color I got) looks amazing on my XL. I thought it would block the view of the 3DS case with the color blue, but it has a nice transparency to it. I honestly enjoy the view of my XL now with the case on than any time without it. Finally, the price makes it worth getting. I can't account for its durability, such as protection against dropping it on a hard surface, but it's a very well designed case that has many other benefits, only a few of that I talked about previously. HORI is a Nintendo authorized distributor, so I'd argue that adds to this case's good reputation. In summation, this case is a must have for any 3DS XL owner who wants good protection for their device, and it looks incredible as well.

Perfect!
Got it for my zelda edition 3ds xl in order to protect it from wear. The case is not crystal clear but you can still see the design clearly. Doesn't detract from the beauty of my limited edition console while keeping it safe from scratches, greasy fingers, and general wear. Fits perfectly and doesn't interfere with the comfort of the system in the hands. Very nice product would recommend to anyone looking to keep their special console safe. Also would be nice to keep decals or stickers safe on regular coloured consoles.

Super bonita!!

There was also the worry that it would be easily dirtied by dust but it's smooth and not sticky ...
Bought this after seeing a video review as i'm not really a fan of flexi TPU cases but this one proved to be malleable and hard at the same time. There was also the worry that it would be easily dirtied by dust but it's smooth and not sticky like some malleable cases i've seen. Fits well and very easy to put on. Will definitely protect my 3DS.
