Quiet, ergonomic and efficient
I purchased this on the recommendation of a Dell laptop engineer. As a professional photographer I’m running a VERY high spec XPS15 for photo editing - often exporting large batches of files from RAW originals. To me workflow speed is everything so keeping the processor working at its optimum is key. For all their benefits, the latest generation of thin, lightweight and mobile laptops still struggle with sufficient cooling. The ability to customise the positioning of the fans has allowed me to place two I’ve the fan intake vents under the machine and one directly under the processor - all this coupled with the fact the laptop no longer sits directly on the table top but has room all round to “breathe”. Construction is sturdy and impressive. I was unsure cow the angled keyboard would suit me but it’s been a cinch to get used to and is very comfortable. There is ample space around the XPS15 (and my old HP Spectre 15) and it’s clear it would easily take the XPS17. I’m so impressed I’m going to purchase the smaller 2 fan version to take on location shoots.

Quality laptop cooling pad
Great laptop stand. Easily fits my Asus ROG 17" laptop. In fact is has a little room to spare. The fans that come with the stand are not that great I dissembled them and tried some Loctite super lube (from the little 7g pen as lighter grade oil than bigger bottles). There was an improvement but still nothing to write home about. I decided to upgrade the fans and today I received the bits I ordered to create a fan rig. Unfortunately I followed the specs of a Youtube guy who also did a fan build. He used the Noctua NF-F12 iPPC 3000 PWM, Heavy Duty Cooling Fan. They do deliver loads of air but sound so loud, like the old Dover to Calais hovercraft. I sent them back in substitute for the Noctua quite fans, not as much air but so much quieter. The rig is really easy to make and the parts are all available on Amazon. Especially with the speed controller I found, with a cheap 12V adaptor (power source) it is just a case of cutting the ends of stripping some of the jacket off to give you a little flex/wire, poke the ends in to the appropriate controller hole and tighten the screws (= & - diagram is on bottom of the controller). Links for them are below. I did go with the cheapest power source/adaptor. I will upgrade but just wanted to go cheap to see if it all worked ok. If you buy the Noctua quite fans they come with rubber mount clips and splitter cables. The industrial ones do not. The industrial fans will likely cool even the hottest laptop, as they deliver serious air but even headphones do nothing to dampen the noise. The Noctua quite fans are much more powerful than the standard fans. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B084QB29TG/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B08J3W6M9G/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 https://www.amazon.co.uk/Noctua-NF-F12-PWM-Premium-Quiet/dp/B00650P2ZC/ref=pd_sbs_3?pd_rd_w=2E8OY&pf_rd_p=2304238d-df78-4b25-a9a0-b27dc7bd722e&pf_rd_r=HY6FN3PS6ZRM1P96G29H&pd_rd_r=64ee0f96-d78d-4fce-9005-f98e1ffd7f9f&pd_rd_wg=tobnP&pd_rd_i=B00650P2ZC&psc=1

Excellent, but with an odd power-on quirk
Excellent laptop cooler. The adjustable fan positioning means you can get the airflow exactly where your laptop gets warm, or where the airvents are. It has a big range of fan speeds on a smooth speed dial (not position 1,2 etc - the dial rolls around to exactly where you want) and it's pretty quiet on the slowest one, quieter than if the laptop fan comes on. On high it does sound like a desk fan going! I've not tried gaming with it yet, but for regular use the laptop fan never comes on with the cooler on the slowest setting. For size, it's a perfect fit for my 15.6" Lenovo Thinkpad P50. The laptop fits just within the metal grille, with the frame around it. A bigger laptop would seem balanced on top of the cooler. If the airvents were on the edges the main airflow zone wouldn't be in the right place to do much good. It would also be really awkward if the rubber feet were off the grille for a bigger laptop - you want that height for the airflow, and it wants to slide around a bit as it is. I'm not an expert, but it makes sense to me that the laptop isn't sticking out off the edge of the cooler. So I'd say perfect for 15.6", fully within the airflow grille. 17" should sit with the feet nicely on the frame around the grille, but I don't see how it would work for a 19" machine. There is one really odd feature, which is why I knocked off a star from 5*. If I leave it plugged in and switch the computer on, it doesn't come on when the laptop is switched on, then when I switch the laptop off the cooler fan starts working! (If laptop mains power lead is plugged in.) It starts up immediately if it's unplugged and I put the USB lead in. The way round this is that every time I switch the laptop on, I turn the cooler fan speed dial up and the fan comes on, then I can turn it down to minimum speed again. It's a bit of a nuisance, having to remember to switch it on in that way each time. But I don't mind too much, it's still decent equipment and I like it.

Excellent product,
-:Build:- • Very sturdy, some user said that this is flimsier than the normal U3. This is not the case as it is not bendy or anything. • Lightweight at 1.1kg. -:Performance:- • Ran Furmark GPU stress test on my Lenove Ideapad y510p SLI + a CPU stress test for 20 mins concurrently. • Temps were lowered by 5-10°C and my CPU and GPUs did not thermal throttle. • Went from 100°C+ to the 90s under full GPU+CPU stress on all sensors, so gaming performance is guaranteed to perform at least as well. • I was afraid that the low CFM (compared to other fans) wouldn't cut it, but being able to position the fans exactly where I wanted to strategically improved my performance. -:Sound:- • Fans are relatively silent, much more silent than my laptop fans at full throttle. Of course I do not recommend having them at 100% for non-intensive tasks as they become annoying. I keep them on the lowest settings when not gaming/rendering. -:Connectivity:- • Plugging the fan controller into the USB slot does not occupy that USB slot since the USB lead also acts as a USB port, with a wire running off from the side to power the fans/controller. • These fans and their controller are rated at USB 2.0 power levels so there is no advantage on wasting a USB 3.0 port on these. -:Comfort:- • Having the laptop raised increased my typing comfort substantially. I know this isn't specific to this product but I've never used a laptop cooler so it was a surprise. • There are no parts interfering with my hand movement. -:Cons:- • If there is one negative aspect of this product, it must be the USB connector. The wire runs off the side and it does not play well with adjacent USB ports as it blocks them. Overall, excellent product and confirms what is to be expected by CoolerMaster.

Good cooling pad with sufficient cooling but terrible ergonomics and poor build quality!
I needed a new laptop cooler because my last one, the Belkin 17" cooling stand was running on its last legs. I did some review searching and supposedly this laptop cooler trumped so I bought it. The reasons I needed this cooler were: accessibility, sufficient heat dissipation and comfort. When the cooler arrived, I had a few gripes with it. Accessibility: The cooler is clunky and when the laptop is seated on the metal stand, it feels quite flimsy in the center and often pressing the keys will cause the laptop to somewhat bounce due to the lack of strength in the center of the pad. With the laptop firmly seated in the center or positioned according to the guidelines, the laptop will constantly move around and slide down the pad so in my situation, I was forced to use the carry strap that came with it - possibly the wrong use entirely but at least my laptop doesn't move around 'as much'. Heat Dissipation: The three 80mm fans were easy to assemble to the back of the pad and I was able to position them exactly where the laptop was lacking proper heat dissipation which seems to be a a big improvement over the conventional centered larger fans which run on a lower RPM. The fans fit nicely and securely and the small button that forces them to stay in place gives me a safe feeling they won't break or snap off in a hurry. The fan control which clips on to the side of the pad has a few issues such as the USB cable powering the fan control forces the control to be turned upside down otherwise it clips on at an angle. If you try to seat the fan control upright, it puts strain on the USB cable and the USB head itself. Comfort: The comfort is okay, I have only been using this on a desk as that was the primary purpose but I don't imagine it would be the most comfortable of coolers - there is no cushioning just one back sort of leg area for the laptop pad to sit ergonomically when on a desk or table surface. The pad sits at a slightly higher angle than what I would have liked and after a while it does put a slight strain on your wrists (this is only mild discomfort but again subjective to my opinion and body). Without the carry strap the laptop would slide all over the place and it would be a nightmare to use (in my opinion). Appearance: The pad doesn't look or feel nice to use, it's pretty much a metal grid that fans bolt from underneath and that's it. The rubber attracts all kinds of dust and dirt particles and is a bit of a hassle to clean off. The brushed aluminum feels and looks cheap. Without using a book or something to elevate the pad up slightly from the front, the ergonomic feel of this pad just doesn't happen. Portability: The pad does offer some portability and the convenient use of flipping it over, mounting the laptop inside the pad and using the carry strap to secure it place does offer it good portability. The pad itself is clunky and larger than most 15-17" laptop cases so I would have a struggle (in my situation) fitting it inside a case because I often use a mouse and a mat over the conventional track-pad. Overall: I'm a website designer that prefers using a laptop and as a result I use my laptop on a regular basis for large amounts of time when designing and coding websites for clients. I have had some issues in the past few hours with the laptop constantly bouncing as a result of the poor build quality and strength of the pad, without the strap on the laptop and around the pad I would have had to push the laptop back up many times and the front plastic grip doesn't really help. The fans are great and so far I haven't noticed any issues with high core temperatures - a common problem among most cheaper generic laptops. There are no aesthetics for this pad but the general purpose of this pad wasn't looks, it was portability and heat dissipation which it does, how well I will update this review when I have done some more tests with a temp gauge application and general use. I have to use a strap or my laptop will no remain seated for very long. I would have given this four stars but because of the flimsy build, the poor elevation and the chunkiness of the design I can only give this three. I'm almost considering returning this item? I wouldn't recommend this to a friend or someone who needs to use a laptop for prolonged periods of time or someone who has wrist problems as this would exacerbate that issue and cause some mild discomfort (again in my situation).

I love the fact that the base is perforated so you ...
This item is a straightforward frame which supports my 19 inch Dell Inspiron laptop which is quite heavy. The laptop does not slip at all & the back is raised up 7cm non-adjustable.There are 3 fans which can be located anywhere on the base by simple pin & hole location. The laptop can be placed in the computer case with the frame inverted. The fans are adequate & the noise does not bother me at all. I have an Earldom wall plus usb power Adapter so I don't drain any power from the laptop. The frame is strong and works very well. I use the frame & laptop on a desk. It would probably be a little heavy using it on my knee which I never do. I love the fact that the base is perforated so you could use it without the fans & have air circulating all over the laptop base. A great produce & I'm glad I ignored any low star reviews.

Bad design
The detachable fans fall at the slightest shake. Not usable on lap, they always fall. On a desk they might be ok. Also, the fans have some pins, that stick out too much, and the laptop sits on them, and gets scratched beneath. Not suitable for MacBooks as they have short feet, and the bottom of the laptop sits on those fan clamps/pins. Also, is too big for MacBook Pro 16 2019. The cooling is good, but is not reliable for my use. Have to add that the product was sent in the original box, with amazon label on it, and the box was open, but nothing was missing,

Great laptop cooler and stand
Love it. Fans work great and can be repositioned as needed. The usb which powers the fans is conveniently located so you can plug into e laptop usb slots. However to avoid draining my laptop battery I just purchased a separate long usb wire to connect directly to a wall socket. Also good that the device can be used to hold my laptop to carry around the house and store away together. Fits my 17” Alienware laptop perfectly. Only things that I think it could maybe benefit from is some kind of raised edge on the top face (I.e. the surface that the laptop sits on) so that’s if your working at an incline the laptop is prevented from sliding down of the stand.

Very pleased customer
My laptop: MacBook pro 15 in. I have searched far and wide for a good quality cooling mat that would look great on my desk without having to break the bank. After reading a lot of reviews on many different products, I chose the U3 and, let me tell you my friends, I am not disapointed at all! The movable fans are perfect for any type of laptops and you can also target any area/component that might get hot depending on what you do with your device. It is very easy to move and lock them with the simple push of a button. I use my laptop do a lot of multitasking on different monitors and after some time if I had to many programs running, my CPU would get really hot and the computer would shutdown until I let it cool a bit. Haven't had any problem since I got the the cooling mat. The product's quality is phenomenal... you can't really go wrong with Cooler Master. The mat is sturdy, nothing slips and it's also very ggod looking on the desk next to the monitor. Also the price is more than affordable for what you get. If you are looking for a good cooling mat that you can keep for a long time and customize to your needs, look no further this is for you. I totally recommend this product and would by it again as a gift anytime.
