Husband and Brother-in-Law Got Jokes.... I got Last Laugh
This gets 5 stars because of the look I got from my husband and brother in law when I brought these bad boys out. To understand this we are going to have to go back in time to about a week before Thanksgiving...I was hosting the turkey day at my house and was putting together my grocery shopping list. We do not typically keep any soda in the house, so I sent a message over the family text asking if I should pick up any while at the store. My brother in law who likes to be an ass sometimes chimes in with “Yeah, get some Jolt!” Then my husband who thought that was funny, said “Get some Surge while you are at it.”Now, most people know these are two “sodas” (and I use that term lightly) that are not typically found everywhere. Thank God. So me wanting to make them drink their words, turned to Amazon to fulfill their dumbassery. I got a four pack of each. The looks on their faces when I pulled them out and told them no one gets dinner until they each had one was not to be missed. It was mostly terror. They won’t screw around anymore when I ask if anyone needs anything. They know I will find it and make them pay.

Just like old times
Almost 20 years ago, I left the European LAN-party scene, long since swimming in Jolt, for the US. Arriving, it turned out the contrary to my expectations, there was no Jolt anywhere. Well, there were on the coasts. No distributor in the Midwest. Doh! They some stated showing up after a relaunch, but it was a completely different drink. Then that vanished, and friends from back home grieved the full end of production. All that was left was a few licence-made glass bottles from the west coast, sometimes filtering in with other "local somewhere" pop. Those were rare and usually pricey (ok, about as pricey as these actually) but were closer, if perhaps not totally the same as the original. I wasn't sure. Now, I'm pretty sure, because these *really* taste like the original, or at least so much so that it triggers stray memories of the times we all lived on Jolt. It's awesome. I'm not sure I'll keep buying them online, and I don't know if the relaunch will work. The taste is wonderful, if that's what you know it should taste like. But it isn't a modern or particularly honed flavor either. Not sure how well it'll go over with non-prior customers, but then I'm sure changing it would not go well at all with the old guard. So we'll see. Grab some while it's here!

A (Literal) Blast from the Past
I remember when Jolt first came out many years ago. It was the day's energy drink, complete with many stern warnings due to its higher concentrations of sugar and caffeine. Compared to Red Bull, it's lemon water, but a younger friend wanted to know what all the fuss was about, so I ordered some.It has a pretty strong cola taste, with a bit more bitterness than the big brands--it's more like RC than anything. Yes, it is cloyingly sweet; it takes your tongue hostage for about a minute after you take a sip, as if to say, "I'm taking your mouth hostage." As for the impact of the caffeine, given that I drink about 5 cups of strong coffee each day, I didn't notice anything, but someone else might get a buzz off of it.

Same great taste a kick but much more expensive
I grew up in the late 80s to the early 90s and this was my go to drink while I was in high school. I'd get the bus driver to drop me off, I'd run to the store grab some Jolt and catch the bus on its next go around after dropping off the other kids, down my Jolt on the remaining leg of the bus ride. Good times.Back then it was waaaay cheaper, and probably is if you can find it at the dollar store. Unfortunately it's quite pricey on here. It's roughly $3 a can on Amazon and more expensive than Monster and Rockstar energy drinks at least where I'm located. Probably about the cost of Red Bull if I'm to buy it from the drug store. It has great flavor in my opinion and I'm not a Pepsi fan, more of an RC fan for that cola taste which Jolt provides. I've always ordered Surge recently as I used to love that growing up, which on here is more affordable but not a cola, though the caffeine is great. If Amazon could start offering Jolt in Prime Pantry as well for cheaper for us Prime Members then it could be a little more worth it.Only 4 stars due to the price.

I like the fact that the Jolt flavour was so different ...
It's Jolt. How could it not receive 5 stars? I remember drinking this back in the late 80's and early 90's. Sure, at that age the increased caffeine played a role in my drinking it but more than that I actually appreciated the flavour. You had Coke, Pepsi, RC, etc, and while they weren't the same they had a taste that was similar enough. I also did drink all of them. Regardless, I like the fact that the Jolt flavour was so different to me. I decided to order some and see if it tasted like I remembered. It definitely did. Was a nice nostalgic moment. And they still use cane sugar rather than high fructose corn syrup!

The Fuel of Hackers and Gamers!
Now that the price is reasonable on Amazon, this is a good buy.Brings back memories of playing video games and staying up all night in college. We didn't have wifi back then. Windows was just getting started and most people used DOS. We played Doom (the original) on a old-school 386 PC. This drink-- along with some Doritos for nutrition-- was our fuel!Kind of tastes like a slightly-bitter Coke, but that's because of all the caffeine. On a serious note: Don't let your kids drink more than one a day. There really is a lot of caffeine and sugar in this.
