This rolled back collar just arrived and I love it. Fits Billie-Jean perfectly. She is 50 lbs and I purchased the 18-inch Coastal rollback collar. I may even order another for my daughter's Sushi as a Christmas present from Grandma!

Replaced an equivalent, but worn leather collar with this one. My dog is a bichon mix, 21 pounds with fine curly hair that does not shed and does not tolerate synthetic woven collars. The rolled leather is perfect. He really appreciates his new collar and it looks great on him. You have to get it on Amazon, because the local pet stores and chains seem to only sell the synthetic woven fabrics that pull out and mat hair (ouch). Smells like fine leather. Sturdy with an appropriate thickness. No safety concerns.

This is a really well-made product. I only gave it four stars because they didn't offer the size I needed for my dog. I originally bought this for a new dog, and guessed at his neck size. When the collar came, it was too large for him. I was planning on returning it and ordering a smaller size, but this company didn't offer anything in the size I needed. So, instead, I did a quick DIY fix. I started at the end with the holes and without the buckle, and I cut the thread that sews this together. I used some needle nose pliers and pulled the threading out until the rolled area was the correct length for my dog's neck. The padding inside the rolled portion was a folded piece of leather, and I trimmed that down to the correct length, and then strung the thread onto a large repair needle (like the ones shown here: Home Repair Needles ). There were two thread ends, on either side of the rolled portion, and I used the previous stitching holes to reclose the rolled section, taking both thread ends through each hole. I finished with a couple of surgeon knots, trimmed the threads and tucked them into the rolled section with the tip of the needle. Then, I just trimmed off the end of the leather color to leave a strap that is long enough to buckle, and poked a hole through with the tip of my scissors. It would have been better to use a leather punch, but I had to make due. I did cut the end strap a little shorter than I should have, but everything stays closed just fine and it has that nice classic rolled leather look I like for a dog collar. I made all of these changes about three weeks ago, and he has worn the collar continuously with no issues since then. Hope this little tutorial helps someone else having trouble finding a collar that fits.

I love this collar! We live on a farm and our dog loves her life but her skin is very sensitive. Nylon collars are a no-no for her for this reason and she needs to wear leather ones. As soon as I put this one on her, she had a look of surprise, as if to say, "Oh, this isn't thick and uncomfortable like those others were!" I'm glad I purchased this for her.

I bought this to replace a good leather collar that was 1.5" wide. But I could tell it was not comfortable for her when she was not standing up. This new one is much more comfortable to her.; much narrower and rolled, not sharp edges. I only use the leather collars to hold her tags. I walk her with a four-foot long metal leash snapped to a metal slip/"choke" collar. (Which I highly recommend for big and strong canines. I don't have to "choke" her; she knows she is the one choking herself if she pulls on it. And it won't slip off her head like a leash attached to just a leather collar will do. If I used a nylon or leather leash/lead, and had to tie her to something for a few minutes, she can easily chew through it in about 15 seconds.)

My original review mentioned I bought this for a pulling dog: One of my 4 dogs is very strong, but does not pull unnecessarily. However, this collar is a good one to keep him from pulling me over when a rabbit crosses our path, because I can tighten it enough to keep it up near his ears, which gives me more control. The one slightly negative is that it could have more holes and a longer "tag" so that there is more adjustment ability. Addendum - once he got used to it, he kept pulling. So I just reverted to his old collar and reinforced his training. I think this might work on a dog with a more defined neck. For people who have a real strong puller - and who don't want to spend the time necessary to break the habit - I suggest a harness instead of the collar (I like the Sporn no-pull harnesses) so the control is not around the dog's neck. When a dog is wearing a regular collar (even this one) and pulls against it, and the owner pulls back, it sets the dog up to pull more, as his instinct will be to pull away from someone choking him! (Try it yourself...) But, as just a leather collar, this one is fine, though more expensive than I'd usually pay.

Good quality and price

Nice quality leather and strong stitching. I used one for 8 years and it's on it's second dog now. Bought this new one for another dog in the family. These are great because they do not compress & mat the fur under the collar or cause heating in the summer. They can be used along with a prong training collar because they are narrow enough that they don't impede the effect of the training collar like the wide collars do.

I've had a few of these collars over the years, and this one is what I needed to replace a too small one that broke prematurely. Was hoping for a 1" x 20" collar, but the 22" one done up all the way has been ok.

Order is for a 24” collar yet this measures 26” and is too large

Looks and works great on my big pup, and doesn’t “flatten” his natural fur line <3
