Fun game! More in-depth strategy than traditional Risk
Okay, first of all. Don't think this is just Risk with a new map. This is a much deeper, more complex game where the different unit types have different characteristics. To play each player chooses an army and a starting city, then they basically set out to conquer as much of the map as possible. Taking control of certain cities gives you perks to improve areas of your game. An example would be that taxing Madrid, France or London rewards you with extra units, one city makes castles half-price to build and another means whenever you buy siege equipment you get free infantry to go with it. Orders are given via cars, you can play two a turn and battles are decided by a series of dice rolls. It's not a fast game to play, but it offers deeper strategy than risk and is more interesting for it. A con of this game is that is exponentially better to play with the right number of players. If you play with less than four players the game is somewhat compromised with the remaining army operating as mercenaries that can be hired by the highest bidder. This adds more strategic options, but to me weakens the gameplay experience. The models are quite detailed for their size and cost, but obviously they aren't citadel miniatures! You get 4 armies, each consisting of infantry, archers, cavalry and siege equipment. You also get castles and crowns. The castle are placed on the map and the crowns are used to track which cities are held. You also get a plastic coin which gets passed around to record which player is currently 'going first' (This changes throughout the game) The coins are a little disappointing. They are basically little bits of pressed out card in the denominations of silver and gold. Otherwise all the components of the game are good quality and should stand up to years of play. To sum up: An interesting new take on Risk. Yes, it's a bit more complicated to play, but I actually think it's better for it!

Risk Europe, honest review...!
Risk, in my opinion is by far one of the greatest games out there. It can be slightly confusing at times in the beginning, and you will have to check the book to clarify any issues for nearly every game, but the more you play, the more fun you have with this game. The book or Game Guide is the most important piece in any version of Risk. It's not an easy read persay, so get help if needed, or even interpret what you think is right, you can always adjust to the right way next game, or round. One big aspect that I love about Risk is, the fact that the game can be manipulated to create different scenarios even before the game actually starts. You can add unspoken rules with players who enjoy the game with you, and those rules can stand throughout every game thereafter. I.E Berlin and Rome are power cities and are not allowed in the beginning choice of cities. Another big one is, every time you play, the game will be different depending on your imagination and card selection. So, the King of the Castle can change very easily, so keep the Ego in check. One thing to be aware of in any game of Risk, is the time consumption. For myself, games can last days, if you have the paitence, and to be honest I'm in a 3 day peace treaty currently. Soon to change though. BWHAHAHAHAHAAA! If you're not me, and just want a game to enjoy with some friends, be aware that you will be playing from at least an hour. Though, I've never seen a game last anywhere less than 2 hours. It is a game to have in your personal collection, however, which version always gets me. Risk Europe is a great choice as a starter, but it will come down to personal preference... The contents: Everything was in the box as described, and in perfect condition as well. I've added a photo of my current game of 2 players, and a Rogue/Mercenary army. I'm Green, O.P is Blue, Rogue is Purple. Blue thought I was out to get Paris when I arrived in London, hence the build up of defence on both sides. Peace Treaty signed here! Last but not least: Keep your friends close, keep your enemies closer. Have fun conquering which ever world of Risk you deem worthy and Good Luck.

Best risk I have played. A true strategy game.
Great game. Takes a while to get use to it but worth it once you're into it. Set aside at least 2-4 hours for a good game. Quality of everything is great lt and so much content

An improvement on traditional Risk.
Great game, much better than the normal Risk , far more elements added to make it more interesting. The game is constantly changing and is much more than just fighting, you need to be aware of all the other players and be careful where you build your siege engines because they can't cross water and you need these to attack castles. One element which really alters the game is that the order of play can change by the cards you play. The cards are an important element of the game because they decide what moves you can make. A brilliant game which my grandchildren love (9 and 13). Highly recommend.

Prefer the classic one ...
It is quite tricky to get behind the gameplay. We have watched a video at the end to make it easier, I don't really like all that stuff with cards and the quick game play. Before this version we have had the got version which was so much fun compared to this. We kept it and it is fine but not the best version. And last point: The colours of the figures. Like what?! maybe for the 80s but neon green and an awful orange? nope thanks ...

Amazing Quailty of box - Great game and more advanced version of Risk
From playing a few Risks I wanted to find a different one to progress with and lots of online articles recommended Risk Europe. It was on offer so had to purchase this. Out of the 5 different Risks I have played this is my personal preference and is another layer to the normal risk game. It is far more complex then normal Risk which is more rewarding to play if you have played normal risk and wanting to move forward. The game board, box and contents are all really high quality and would really recommend this to a risk fan.

Hi IQ/ Mensa members only buy this version
Extremely disappointed. It was a Christmas gift for a very close family member, so we could play this as a family over the festive period. Three generations of intelligent and wise people could not get to grips with how to play this over complicated version of a simple strategic board game less than *

King of the Risk games
This was an absolutely fantastic purchase - I was curious about an alternative version of Risk, so I bought this edition, and it's proved to be a thorough hit, with me and a few friends meeting weekly to play against one another! Those of us who have played original Risk agree there is no comparison; it's a far deeper, evolved format, with a lot of complexity that creates great diversity between games. My only complaint is that there are a few unresolved circumstantial disputes which aren't considered in the rulebook, so we have to agree to how to deal with these pre-game. Otherwise, a wonderful addition to my small collection of board games which aren't just for Christmas.
