Refreshing Techno Treats
Berlin's Ellen Allien gives good techno and her new album 'Nost' is a doozy!The sound and mood is somewhat less dark than some of her previous work.A few of the nine tracks are downright perky! The beats, as ever, are impeccable.Opening number 'Mind Journey', in spite of the repeated entreaty from a disgruntledrobot, is a frisky invention whose relative simplicity belies its addictive demeanour.'Jack My A**' sports a crisp hi-hat, bumbling bass line and little bubble car synth "toottoots" to light hearted effect. 'Erdmond' crackles with moody extraterrestrial electricity.It's pleasing to find Ms Allien in such fine fettle. It'll doubtless go down a storm at Berghain!Highly Recommended.
