Great fun for kids and big kids alike!
For as long as I can remember we've always played "20 Questions" in my family so when I saw this whilst looking for a present for my parents I just had to get it. My mum was somewhat skeptical about it at first and was convinced it was never going to guess what she was thinking about but was amazed when it got it spot on. Even my dad, who was never particuarly a fan of "20 Questions" (mainly because he was never any good at it!) found it amazing, possibly because of its gadgety nature.I've nicknamed it "Columbo" because it doesn't always look like it's asking anything relevant to what you're thinking about and you start to wonder if it has the faintest idea at all but it very rarely gets it wrong at the end! OK, so it has its limits and it is prone to a slight American bias (e.g. guesses a cup of coffee but wouldn't know what a cup of tea was!) but you've got to be fair with it as it's never going to know everything. Considering it's essentially just a plastic ball with a few electronic bits inside I still find it pretty amazing and I'm considerably older than the manufacturer's recommended age group! :)

How to keep a middle aged guy from working!
Having missed the postal delivery, prior to starting my saturday 'chores' I went to the post office to collect my Amazon goods. It was my 20Q and as for my saturday schedule - that flew right out of the window. This little plastic ball of electronics has occupied me constantly for 2 hours.I have no idea how it fathoms it's answers out from the questions it asks - but it does.I did manage to fox it with circular saw but it sort of got close by guessing a katana. And how the hell it worked out electric guitar totally beats me!All in all this is a toy which will keep you amused just trying to beat it. You'll not learn anything but that's not the point. This is purely for enjoyment. And it's worth every penny!Treat yourself - it's less fattening than an easter egg as well

Great gift.
I got this for my sister for Christmas, as we have an annual competition to get a present for each other that you can't guess what it is. (The ball shape made it ideal!)She was duly stumped, until when squeezing it she hit a button and he started chirping at her."It's a game or something!"Well, she was right.Despite hitting a few buttons whilst trying to guess what he was, she set about seeing if he could guess a traditional Christmas item... Brussel Sprouts! No problem for the little chap.He was passed around the house and everyone, young and old was impressed with his skills. If you come up with something totally obscure you might catch him out, but that is as much down to your difficulty categorising your wierd item.If you're wondering why I've called it "he", well he's a cheeky little chap with a cocky attitude. Well worth the money, as he still keeps a gang of post doctorate scientists amused.

Great for all ages
I bought one of these little gizmos on a whim just before a recent holiday - it captivated our group and hardly an hour passed between someone grabbing it, saying, "I wonder if it can guess..."My feeling is that the questions should be taken in the manner they're intended. If you are absolutely strict, then "Would you find this in a classroom?" could be just about anything - Aarkvarks and Zeppelins (maybe pictures & models respectively); if you read that one as "Are you likely to find this in a classroom?" then it would be "No".So, given a reasonable attitude, it really is quite good at guessing. If it's wide of the mark after 20 questions, it goes on for a further 5 before guessing again.Mine started losing pixels randomly from the display, which I found alarming. But a set of fresh batteries soon sorted that out and it's quite happy once more.Really quite fun, not sure how many rough knocks it would survive but it's still going after a busy holiday!

Doesn't quite do what it says on the tin...
I SO wanted this toy to be as good as the reviews indicated. My friends and I set out to use it, prepared to be wowed. At least 30 attempts later and with only two 'wins', I cannot believe the praise that this thing has received!!!! When it DOES get it right, it's amazing...but, in our experience, that's a pretty rare occurrence. I thought of butter (a fairly simple item I'd say) and it came up with broccoli; I thought of priest, it came up with clown (!!!), etc. On the plus side, it managed to get 'wallaby':-)))I can't say it's not fun finding out that it's not exactly what it's cracked up to be - but if you're expecting it to do what it says on the tin, I'd hang on to your hard-earned money.

Totally hooked
I bought this as a little extra for my sons birthday, at just under £10 it was well worth the money. It arrived yesterday and he was pretty impressed at how this little gadget could answer so correctly. It doesnt always answer correctly 1st time but usually always gets it on the 2nd guess. My boyfriend wasnt impressed by it at 1st and wondered why I had bought it, that is until he started playing it. He is totally hooked and cant put it down, with him in the room nobody is allowed to play with it but him. So apart from being a great little toy, it is great for all ages, including the big kids.

addictively entertaining
This little toy, about the size of a small apple, is completely addictive. It is recommended for ages "8 and up": I exceed that by over 30 years and I can't put it down. No, it doesn't get it right every time (I was thinking of "camera" and it guessed "nose", bizarrely..)but the truly remarkable thing is just how often it DOES get it right after asking apparently irrelevant questions. I reckon it outwits you 3 times out of 5 but, hey, it's just so damn clever even when it's wrong..I agree totally that it is great for children but anyone under 8 might have difficulty answering some of the questions. "Do you bring it with you?" is the weirdest question as even I'm not sure what it is trying to discover with that enquiry. It's handy, cheap, engrossing and baffling. Highly recommended.I'm off to have another go. Will it guess "skipping rope", I wonder?(Two minutes later). Yes it did. Awesome. Totally awesome.

surprisingly accurate!
I didn't rate this highly on educational value (you have to know the answers to the questions to begin with - so it wouldn't teach your kids anything new) but other than that its a pretty fab toy.it's more accuarate than you'd imagine - which leads to lots of people sitting round trying to beat the game with more and more bizarre objects (my office came up with binding machine - but I guess that is a bit unfair on it) it did manage holepunch..it can be difficult to read the screen - so if you have poor eyesight buy the bigger tabletop version I guess.I dont know how durable it is - we haven't had it long, but it hasn't broken yet - I wouldnt suggest that you drop kick it though! The novelty factor of this game will wear off in the end, but until then it is good fun.. and there's always a new member of the family that wants a go!

Not Just For Kids!
What an amazing little thing. When I realized I only paid $8.00 for the best toy under the tree, I felt a little foolish. It hasn't been stuffed into a stocking yet but has been played over and over again. Not by my 12 year old son who I bought it for but by my 17 year old daughter, her friends, and I must admit, by me. The biggest fascination for me is wondering how they do it. The questions asked don't seem to pertain to your item until the end when it guesses correctly. On 10 items, this baby guessed 9 correct in 20 questions and needed a few extra questions to guess the 10th. The bad part about this "toy" is I had to go out and buy more for some of the older kids on my list. Some being in their 20s I might add. It's just too much fun. It's so nice to see a 2006 Toy of The Year Award that actually earns the title and costs under $10.00. You just can't beat it!

Defective product, horrendous service
Do NOT but from this seller. The product was sent as a gift for my nephew and after the first day of use, the screen was illegible. They insisted it was supposed to be that way (yah right), then finally said they would send a replacement. I discovered the replacement never arrived and after 2 more months of correspondence and requests for a refund, they told me "sorry, it's been over 30 days and there is nothing we can do." Amazon.ca is stepping up to the plate as usual, which is why I am a loyal Amazon customer, but this third party seller is not worthy of this marketplace.

Disappointed in Customer Service
ABSOLUTELY LOVE the game, but the backlight on the screen does not work. It has never come on. Customer Service told me that they were sold out of this item & were unable to replace it. No other compensation was even discussed or offered.Thank You,Les~
