can i wear it as a real hat ?

If you are inclined to do so who not wear it as I hat but not in the winter time

Can anyone suggest a brand of dishwasher detergent that works best? Some brands have bleach, so I would be interested in the experience of those who have tried this.

We have a Bosch dishwasher and Quantum Finish (Powerball) was recommended, and that was what I used. After I could not wear my hat in public, I wore it for 2 years to do yard work, and figured it was worth a try. You can imagine how pleased I was when it came out clean!!! I WILL wear it the next time we go to Disney.

What is this made out of, hard plastic? Is it sturdy enough to double as hat box type thing in a suitcase?

Hey, I would say this plastic is flexible but not flimsy. I think it would be alright as a "hat box type thing" in a suitcase as long as nothing hard and heavy is put on top of it, but just clothes I think it would do fine. Thank you.

I didn't try with washing machine but assume it would work. Advantage of dishwasher is you get a lot of cleaning power directed at the fabric without worrying about the hat moving around and possibly coming out of the frame.
