I'm becoming increasingly frustrated at mistakes and missing parts from orders I place. The ligature itself is of very good quality and feels as though it will last a long time. On opening the package, the box inside was open and and an insert was missing, not the kind of service I expect, especially when the ligature is an expensive purchase. Customer service from the manufacturer, Rovner, however, is exemplary and a replacement was arranged within minutes.

This is a reasonably-priced ligature. If you're using an old-fashioned style ligature (maybe the one that came with your sax), this will will make playing easier and clearer and smooth out your sound. I love it for these basic reasons. The ligature has two small metal bars that can be interchanged. The thicker bar give a darker sound. I find the thinner bar works best for me, giving a brighter tone (that can be darkened by other means). So far, the metal bar stays in place. I have the same ligatures for my tenor and soprano. For some reason, on the tenor, the little bar slips easily out when I loosen the ligature. When you're at a gig, it would be easy to lose; I've had to institute serious preventative practices. The ligature can be placed on the mouthpiece either "inverted"—it looks upside down from basic ligatures—or in the "pin-on-reed" position. I prefer the recommended inverted way. This makes the metal bits and the bar push more evenly and securely on the reed. The single screw is a breeze to adjust.
