Always have a replacement to hand.
We bought this on the basis of advice from a telecoms engineer some years ago & have since always tried to keep a spare at hand to test the system in the first instance. These have a finite life, are always plugged in so accrue many thousands of hours 24/7 365 days a year, we are used to being connected & staying connected. With multiple lockdowns, home office, calls & multi tablet connectivity all running at once if you encounter an internet / phone line failure this is often the first point of test as to whether your home system has gone down / street / village etc. if you ring an internet provider helpline they will ask questions related to your filter, so you may as well have an interchangeable one ;) The filter by its nature of design features a lot of lead free solder which is the likely part to give up the ghost. Places on the high street such as wilko, screwfix & toolstation all sell cheap ADSL filters for a few quid, so if nearby check local stock, or buy here on amazon (inflated price but often delivered) Remember to recycle it at the small electronics items area of your local tip. NOW THE ALTERNATIVE: (finding a youtube tutorial) Consider NOT having an in line (this type) of ADSL microfilter & instead fit to your MAIN incoming house point of entry phone connection, buy & fit a dedicated SEPERATE ADSL faceplate to likely improve both your phone line & upgrade your internet connection by having 2 separate feeds rather than the shared one that a microfilter gives you) I'll quote a reliable site source seeing as I cannot directly leave a link here: "An ADSL faceplate (also known as a ‘filtered faceplate’) is designed to replace the faceplate on the BT NTE5 master socket. An ADSL faceplate replaces the need for microfilters on all telephone extensions by filtering the broadband signal directly at the BT master socket, so that the broadband signal is isolated from all extension cabling throughout the property. BT fully supports the use of ADSL faceplates and in no way will the use of a filtered faceplate contravene BT regulations with regard to the NTE5 master socket. In most cases, an ADSL faceplate dramatically reduces the amount of the interference suffered by the broadband signal compared with conventional ADSL filtering (described above). This results in substantially increased broadband speeds and a more reliable connection. For households suffering from relatively low broadband connection speeds (say 1-2 Mbps), a filtered faceplate often doubles the connection speed" Consider this AFTER checking a few youtube tutorials as an optional upgrade that a BT engineer would like you to have anyway) ..& if this has given you positive food for thought as a viable small DIY alternative then leave me a positive!

Does what it says on the tin.
Does what it says in the tin. No loss of internet speed, just allowed us to move it to a more suitable locale within the homestead. No connectivity or service loss issues noted. Cheap price. Winner winner chicken dinner.

Works… HOWEVER…
It worked as described, but, I ordered last April and it has now packed in so have had to look for a new one. I believe it’s one of the capacitors on the circuit board and everything else looked fine. Cleaned up electrical connections but it’s still providing intermittent Wi-Fi (ie it’s turns on and off). Might be a common fault I don’t know but as soon as there is a high load demand in my Wi-Fi it can’t take it and the Wi-Fi switches off and restarts. Don’t let this put you off though, it’s good quality for and nice and clean inside so it will do its job, somethings just don’t have a long lifespan but then again you get what you pay for.
