Catechism of the Catholic Church, Ascension Edition (Leatherlike)

Prior to getting this Ascension Press version of the Catechism, I had gotten a small, inexpensive version of the Catechism years ago, but I never read much of it as it wasn't really user-friendly in the way it was laid out, imo. This Ascension Press edition of the Catechism is magnitudes better!!! It's organized well and actually easy to read. Plus, it has excellent references throughout, and best yet, it has so many useful appendices not found in other versions of the Catechism!! For what you get here, the higher price is more than justified imo. I cannot recommend this Catechism enough!!

This is such an amazing book that is so enlightening and helpful to anyone who wants to better understand their Christian faith. Quite honestly it is a masterpiece. If you have any questions on certain teachings of the Catholic faith or perhaps disagree with what you may have heard this is an ideal reference to add clarity and understanding of what has been handed down via apostolic succession and holy tradition. Its one of the most important books to accompany anyone who wishes to grow in their faith!!

Not a quick read! The Catechism provides a detailed overview of the Christian Faith. It is organized into sections that are critical to the understanding of the fullness of the Faith. The Catechism arrived with outstanding packaging and no damage. This version was published by Ascension Press! It is amazing.

This review is for the more expensive faux leather edition from Ascension Press. Sturdy, well sewn together, with thick pages. Well organized and attractive print with headings, information boxes, and themed sections color-coded. Extensive index, glossary and (both biblical and ecumenical, ecclesiastical, and pontifical) citation listings. Book lays flat and has four colored ribbon bookmarks sewn in. Comes with a free folding chart "The Catechism at a Glance". I have had two other editions of the Catechism, but none were as inviting and easy to navigate as this one. Others were not as approachable and I easily got lost. I find this one to be easier to relate to and to cross reference with other sources because of the attention to headings at the top of each page letting you know what the topic relates to and some of the nice extras like the over 200 page appendix as well as the many boxes throughout the text giving sources and glossary words cited in that section. It cost me $65 but it was worth the extra money because I plan to have and use it for the rest of my life.

I’d have to really reach to find something to criticize about this. Because it’s white leather, it can pick up a few scuffs on the cover. Aside from that minor thing, this is the best version of the Catechism I have found, if you don’t mind paying a higher premium. Sections are colorized, perfect font size, high quality paper, 4 ribbons, soft leather cover. Ascension has a Catechism in a year reading plan and tabs available that can be used with it as well. Note, the tabs aren’t required. The table of contents and color coded sections make it easy to navigate already.

LOVE this easy to read, enjoyable format of the Catechism of the Catholic Church. The way it's been put together makes you want to pick it up daily and learn all there is to know about your Catholic faith! I highly recommend downloading the Ascension App and following along with the Catechism in a Year podcast with Fr. Mike Schmitz (FREE), using this Catechism. It will truly transform your life if you commit to it. That's what we want, isn't it? Not just to read it, but to live it? To be transformed by Jesus speaking to us through the Scriptures and through the magesterium of the Church with the Catechism? I also highly recommend the Bible in a Year podcast with Fr. Mike Schmitz, as well. Fr. Mike's commentary at the end of each podcast is genuinely heartwarming. His love for his vocation and for his fellow brothers and sisters in Christ (and even those listening who may not be Christian) who listen to the podcasts in palpable.

I give these out as prizes for classes I teach and it is visually appealing with references that are clear. It is color coded as well.

Very good quality. Essential book for all those Catholics searching for the real doctrine and defense of Christianism. Colour code and very nice for reading. Proper paper and font

Ascension Catechism is a great resource for deepening my understanding of the Catholic faith. The book presents Church teaching clearly and faithfully, making it easy to follow and reflect on. It also pairs beautifully with Fr. Mike Schmitz’s Catechism in a Year podcast, helping reinforce and deepen what’s shared there. I highly recommend it for anyone looking to grow in their knowledge of the faith.

This book was received as a newyear gift, ordered by myself. Reached well before scheduled day of delivery. It has a leather like cover and is The update version of CCC promulgated by St John Paul II who was our Pontiff and will be Doctor of Church one day. The book has four multicolored built-in bookmarks. There is color coding of pages. The Catechism at a Glance along with it is a useful tool to study. Ideally this CCC is a blessing to be used with Great Adventure Bible RSV 2CE and Great Adventure Bible Timeline Study series by Jeff Cavins. And also for use with Catechism In an Year podcast by Fr Mike. I have a suggestion to make. Can you make available a large print edition of the same, without delay.
