Answer is blowing in the wind
I have had a davis weather station for a number of years and the anemometer had gone and was reporting incorrect so this was replacing it. This is brilliant and now shows the correct wind speed and direction. Well worth the cost.

Good replacement
easy to install except that the arm was more horizontal than illustrated and than the original. So the new mountings (supplied) were required. Works very well now giving accurate windication

Upgraded unit
I have bought it as a spare as the reed switch tends to go at some stage. Their stuff is ok and better at US prices. I have had a bad run with temp/humidity sensors but that is something else. Good and improved unit hopefully.

8 months and reed swhitch fails so whole arm replacment needed
Many people have this failed reed switch problem and there is no way to replace just the switch itself. A whone new arm needs to be purchased sometimes at a ridiculous price outside the US. Mine worked 8 months :( Am very disappointed that Davis don't offer any recalls or at least discount for replacements of parts that have fault(s) in design.Also, a magnet inside the anemometer is corroding at both ends where not sealed although Davis said this is not the root cause of the problem.
