Pricy for a play thing but stunningly brilliant
You just can't go wrong with Pioneer, they've always been solid. The DJ surface is intuitive, packed full of features, extremely well built and feels great to use. It's probably a little excessive for a complete beginner, but if you can stretch your budget then go for it. It is a little bit more costly than other DJ surfaces, but it comes bundled with Serato Pro, if you don't get this included then you'll need to pay a monthly fee to upgrade from the Lite version of the software, so take that into consideration when pricing this product up.
