I preface this review with the fact that I am not a hiker. I am a male approaching seventy with leg and back issues that require me to use assistance while walking. I have, however, hiked extensively in my younger years. I have used Leki walking sticks with cane type handles for years. Lately I have felt the need for pole type support to give my right hand, arm, and shoulder some occasional relief as I tend to lean pretty heavily on the handle. I received my Foxellis yesterday and was pleasantly surprised by....well, everything. First, the packaging was really nice. Very compact and well thought out with the poles and all of the accessories in the travel bag. The bag has a convenient pocket for storing the accessories. The package included detailed instructions on how to activate the warranty, care of the products and what each accessory is for. A complimentary LED flashlight was even included in the package! Secondly, these poles are extremely light weight but very strong. The locking mechanisms are tight and hand adjustable. Third, the cork handles and wrist strap are well made and comfortable. I was hoping the poles would extend to be a little taller than they do for my purposes. However, I believe they are ideally designed for hiking, especially in challenging terrains. The guidelines say that the grip should be straight out from your body with about a 90 degree angle at the elbow. I am a little over six feet tall and they easily extend enough for me to attain that. Since I am not a hiker and I just need support that is easy on my right side for walking. It would be nice to have them extend to a walking stick level say, a 45 degree elbow bend, as that would ease my discomfort by using some different muscles. Still, even at the ninety degree extension, the handles are very comfortable and I get some relief. All in all, these poles are every bit the quality of the Lekis I have owned. Frankly, now that I know about Foxelli, they will be my first choice in the future. ** I need to revise this review. I just realized that these pole extend to exactly where I need them to be with about a forty five degree elbow bend. They're now perfect. Glad I bought them.

Have you ever been hiking with hiking poles that collapsed when you needed them most? Well, that won't happen with these Foxelli Carbon Fiber Trekking Poles! WOWSA - THESE ARE GREAT HIKING POLES! And, the price point is GREAT! I am SO HAPPY I GOT THESE POLES! These poles weigh half what my other poles weighed, and are twice as solid. These poles have a flip lock tab to lock the length in place. I love this feature because I know my weight on a steep incline won't collapse the poles. I think one of my favorite features is the grip. I have a cork grip, which is for normal walking. But, right below that grip is a neoprene grip. If you have ever walked across a slope, having your uphill pole slightly shorter is easier. You don't need to do that with these poles because you can drop your hand down to the lower grip and you are set to go! What a great feature. It is not necessary to adjust your poles on slopes. And lastly, I am a cross-country skier, so straps mean a lot to me because I don't actually grip the poles, I use my whole arm to propel myself forward by putting pressure on the strap (for those cross-country skiers out there, you know what I mean). This strap allows me to do that hiking. There is a nice, cushion-y strap that doesn't rub my hands. Again, a very nice feature. Lastly, these poles come with a carrying bag, and tips for snow, mud, and pavement, as well as packing tips. I plan on making these my cross-country ski poles this winter. So, I really will get the value and use out of my trekking poles. Foxelli is a small company that is doing a FANTASTIC job at producing a high-quality product. And, they back their product. I bought these poles a few months ago after having NEVER used a trekking pole. I'm a surveyor and have worked in remote Alaska "hiking" for my job in the Brooks mountain range for 10-12 hours a day, 7 days a week, months on end. I did this in 2006 and 2007 when I was 38 and 39 years old. I've always been "athletic" and been in the woods a lot for my job and hunting and fishing and hiking. I wish I had known about trekking poles earlier in my life!! I'm now 50 years old and in great shape and training for an upcoming archery elk hunt in Idaho this September. I've been wearing a 60 lb backpack while training for my hunt. I've been hiking mountains and generally going "all over" through the mountains on the "rim" here in AZ. Those poles are AWESOME!! I really notice how much they help when going down steep terrain. I put the poles out in front of me and put the top of the pole in my palm so I can put lots of weight on the pole, I make sure the pole bottom is secure and use it to help take the weight off of my knees. and for more secure footing. When I reviewed "trekking poles" on a hunting website they said its like "4 wheel drive for your body". I was skeptical but now I'm a believer. I may not use the poles when I don't have a heavy pack on my back, but I can tell you they are awesome when you have a heavy load on your back! I've put these poles through a lot so far and put a lot of weight on them and so far they are holding up great. I like how the locking mechanisms can be adjusting to make sure they're tight on the poles and don't slip. I'm 6'4" 195 lbs and when I have a 60lb pack its 255lbs total weight and I have put most of my weight on the poles and they haven't failed yet! If you're going to hike with a heavy pack I highly recommend these poles. I can tell you they take a lot of wear off of your knees going downhill.

I purchased these poles for a friend since his high end, expensive pair recently snapped so that was the end of those pricey things. Being the smart shopper that I am (not to mention former professional buyer), I wanted to find comparable trekking poles that I knew would be out there, that would match his pricey set, while not paying $200 for a pair. I chose features as entirely close as to what he had, and these these trekking poles from Foxelli not only had all of the features of the old pair, but upped them quite a few by including all of the accessories that they have, and includes a carrying case- all of which we’ve not seen included with any high end poles! With recent Covid19 restrictions, he has not exactly run them through the grind yet, but based on one hiking/camping trip so far, two thumbs up were given, and feedback was that these poles were comfortably lightweight, worked very well for his trek (his “easy” hikes are my and the average person’s strenuous ones), had no problems with height adjustment components, and it was highlighted that the dual comfort feature of the cork and sponge were a big plus and said to be a brilliant idea and were lacking on his old set. He is still in disbelief at the price, and that these poles came with the other tips and carrying case and is excited to have put an economically priced set of trekking poles to the test. We’ve both concluded that while other reviews may include reports of breakage here and there, that when considering an outdoor item personally used as subject to frequent, high-impact trek-assisting, it is to be accepted that none are exempt from this, and that no items exist that are going to be indestructible, and the pricier high end trekking poles are no less prone to breaking, so focus on this cannot be relevant, comparatively. To be fair, 4 out of 5 stars are based on this feedback and on one trip thus far, with durability over time considered, as we see it. I then purchased a pair of Foxelli’s aluminum version of the poles for myself to be even lighter in weight, to be more beneficial for me, since weight definitely adds up and is a factor on long hauls in 100 degree weather. I just received these and haven't gone for a hike with them yet. However, after checking them over and comparing them to other poles I've owned or checked out: I'm Quite Impressed! Just before ordering these, I had purchased 3 different sets of poles at Cabelas: 2 Kelty styles and 1 Yukon so my wife, who wasn't with me at the time, could see what she liked. These were both clamp lock and twist to tighten styles. She didn't like the twist style because she was concerned that she couldn't grip tightly enough, especially if hands were sweaty, to tighten them sufficiently. Only one style had cork handles, which we both really liked because it seemed clear that the grip would be much better than the other non-cork handles--especially with sweaty hands. Here are the features we especially like about these Foxelli poles: 1) the cork handles are great and we liked the fact that they had a lower "knob" to help keep hands from slipping down. The other poles we checked out with cork handles didn't have this--only the "knob" at the top. 2) the dense foam-like grip area beneath the cork handles, also with a "knob" at the bottom which could be really useful if a lower hand position might ever be needed in some circumstances while hiking. This was one of the things we had noticed when reviewing poles online that caught our attention. It's as great as it seemed when we were evaluating different poles. Other poles had nothing else to grip beneath their handle, other than the pole itself--which would not provide sufficient gripping area. 3) The thumb-screw tightener on the clamp-locking mechanism is an exceptional feature. I tried these while setting all the clamps to optimal tension and they worked great. The poles I've had before did not have this, so it's good I typically carry a Swiss army knife with me because I've had occasions, while hiking, that the clamp was not tight enough and pole was slipping--a screw driver was required to tighten the clamping mechanism. 4) The poles are very light weight. No trekking poles we've owned, of the ones we checked out at Cabela's are heavy, but these were noticeably lighter. I trust the carbon fiber construction will result in their being as strong as aluminum poles we've owned or checked out, and less prone to bending or breaking--time and trekking will tell. 5) These Foxelli's had more tip choices than any other we found, with the addition of the rocker-style rubber tip that seems could be very useful especially on pavement or more solid ground. Some other poles did not include the broad snow tip, which could be useful here in WI, where we typically get lots of snow in winter. 6) The storage / carry bag is a really nice feature, especially with 4 different styles of tips, to be able to keep everything together when not in use. We were surprised it had an external velcro-closed pouch that holds all of the tips. We had expected the tips would just get stored in the bottom if the bag--which would not have been nearly as convenient as the external pouch. I'm not sure if we'd ever need the over-the-shoulder carry strap while hiking and would likely pick the tip needed for the day's conditions. However it would be a nice feature if we ever wanted to bring the bag along. 7) The "bonus" mini-flashlight was nice to have included and also fits in the pouch. 8) We like the fact that Foxelli is a small family-owned business. The overall quality and workmanship on these poles seems to be excellent. It's important to support businesses lie this. 9) At $64.97, we felt these poles were a very good value. It was a bit surprising that the advertised discount for 2 or more sets of poles was not reflected in the checkout price, but this did not detract from our interest in these. Now, on to the hike and "field-testing". Hopefully I'll remember to post a follow-up review after we've hiked with them awhile but, so far, I see nothing that could lead to disappointment. When I was young, I’ve never used poles for hiking. But as getting older, I started using my 1st trekking poles two years ago. They were collapsible by folding and fit into my backpacks. I used them for a full day hiking of 8,753 ft Guadalupe peak in November 2023. I mainly used when descending. One of poles was sometimes a little unstable but they were OK. In September 2024, I climbed Mt Fuji, 12,388 ft, spending two days. When I checked the poles at home, they were fine. But when I arrived at the trailhead, I found a cable inside of a pole was detached and I was not able to fix it. At the summit, I found unused 2nd pole had same problem that was inner cable was detached, too. Fortunately, my friend let me use his. I’m 154 lb and 5’11” but the poles last only one day hiking in Texas and I was not able to use them when I really needed them. After I retuned home, I checked the reviews of folding poles of other brands. It seems folding poles have same inner cable disconnecting problems as mine. A month ago, I bought a pair of Foxelli collapsible trekking poles. This time, I chose telescopic collapsible poles. As soon as assembling to one pole after receiving them, I immediately felt much better stability compared to the folding ones. Two weeks ago, I used this for moderate 4 miles hike with 910-ft elevation gain at Shenandoah and they were much more stable than the folding poles I had. Locking mechanisms are same. The difference between old one and this is aluminum or carbon fiber. The light weight of carbon fiber is advantage. But I think the real advantage is telescopic not folding for collapsing. Compared to folding, telescopic poles have less part to break. When the telescopic poles are collapsed, they are longer than folding ones but they still fit into my suitcase for traveling. I don’t know about folding poles of Foxelli brand but I definitely recommend this telescopic poles. The stability I felt was awesome. I really love this lightweight telescopic collapsible trekking poles very much.

First, let's talk a little about why I bought trekking poles in the first place. Upon retiring, I was healthy and in good physical condition. I love being with nature and one of my many interests included hiking... mostly while on camping trips and in the Appalachians and nearby Sourland Mountains (central NJ). Faster, Safer Hiking I had never used trekking poles before and felt like I didn't need them. Yet, after joining a local hiking and outdoor club, I noticed a large number of members using trekking poles on a regular basis and seeming to rely and benefit from them. After I started to notice some knee pain from making steep declines down rocky slopes where my legs would take a pounding, I decided to give them a try. Guess what? No more knee pain. Not only that, but with the extra balance the poles provided, I found myself a faster hiker. I was also less likely to fall on slippery terrain. Rock hopping to cross a stream suddenly became much easier with two poles in the water or on adjacent rocks to help balance. Hikers without poles tended to walk more cautiously through slippery mud, whereas I could maintain a nice cruising speed without slowing down, as I had two extra limbs with which to keep my balance on the ground. About the only time I don't bother with poles is if I know in advance that the ground will be firm and flat. Quality poles, affordable price. These are great trekking poles... I just bought my second pair so that I can keep one pair at home and the other with relatives (where I also hike), so I don't have to worry about transporting them on the airlines. What's to like about these poles? Everything: - Very lightweight and strong (as one would expect with carbon fiber). - Flexible so don't have to worry about misshapen poles if one occasionally gets jammed between rocks or caught between boards on a boardwalk or catwalk... at least mine have survived minor pole jams intact thus far whereas older aluminum poles did not fair as well. - Quick adjustment is great for changing length when transitioning from flats to uphill or downhill. - Collapses easily by flipping tabs to store nicely on pack or in car or at home. - Cork handles are very comfortable in any climate - Hand straps easily adjustable for custom fit - Easy to share among friends and family, since pole quickly adjusts in size - Easy switch to large baskets for xc skiing - Durable materials have weathered well across all seasons, as well as through muddy paths and stream crossings. - Not the cheapest or most expensive poles on the market, but in my opinion... the best poles for the money. - Have not found ANY negatives with these poles thus far! Bottom line is that I spent a fair amount of time researching various poles on the web, and asking others for their opinion, and I wound up with these poles. I love these poles. Perhaps you will too. These are great poles, but lost the rubber foot on one of them the first time I used it which was a pain so I had to buy some more. Otherwise great poles so far

Tested in 7 days trek of Pyrenees mountains...they are very light to carry and quite strong during going uphill or downhill.

This review is for the Foxelli Carbon Fiber Walking/Trekking Poles. These are fantastic quality at a very reasonably price. Being carbon fibre they are very light weight and are easily adjustable with markings on the side and flip locks to lock the sections. The grip is made of cork with a foam rubber lower grip, the straps are very comfortable and are clevery adjusted without the use of a buckle. They came with snow baskets, mud baskets, road feet, normal feet/tip covers, carry bag and a belly/bum bag. I have never had trekking poles before so took them out to some flat ground nearby and I got on with them very quickly. They will help my walking on Dartmoor and will increase my stability going up and down rough ground and crossing streams etc. They are extremely good value and I can't wait to get on the moors with them.
