FOR ALL YOU TIRED PARENTS OUT THERE - HERE IS SOME HELP! This book contains a fun, whimsical peek inside a home where two children and their little puppy have created some havoc around the house. Lift the roof of this miniature home and let your little ones discover some of the things children do that can really make life hard for their parents and some of things that children can do to truly help around the house. Even the family pet gets into the spirit of helping out. Illustrated with the use of imaginative and realistic miniatures and inspired by a real family pet who actually does pick up her own toys, this children's book is sure to delight, teach and motivate little ones to lend a hand or a paw (no matter how small) around the house! Review: A wonderful story full of teachable moments - B.A. Whitaker's book, "Wash your hands & wipe your feet (help your parents by being neat)" is a wonderful little book for children about the many virtues of cleaning up after playtime. The book has become part of a nightly ritual before bedtime for me and my four year old. My little girl just giggles and explodes with laughter as we learn how a brother and sister--Chuck and Charlotte (and their dog Sophie) -- come to realize that spreading jelly on the door and tracking mud through the house isn't always the best way to get mom and dad to provide more playtime. The moral of the story is that kids can help their parents keep things tidy, and that moms and dads have other jobs, too, besides cleaning up after their little ones. One of the greatest things about "Wash Your Hands & Wipe Your Feet" is that it's told not through traditional illustration, which has become so standard in children's storytelling these days, but through miniaturization, with the children's home and all of its contents represented by actual photographs of tiny replicas. The children's room is shown with all the details of beds and chairs and a clutter of items strewn across the floor, complete with a banana peel left on the carpet! At first I wasn't quite sure about portraying the story through miniatures, but when I read the book for the first time to my daughter (and the dozens of times since!) she was simply fascinated by the details of the children's home, asking repeatedly with unabashed laughter why Chuck was fingerprinting on the door. The miniaturizations actually draw you into the story in ways that traditional illustrations just can't do. It's three dimensional mayhem in the children's house, as well as the remedy of picking things up off the floor, keeping the walls free from handprints and all the other things that go with teaching children to pick up after themselves. It was a great book! A wonderful read full of teachable moments! I thoroughly recommend it. Your kids are going to love it. Enjoy! Review: One of the things I really like about the book - "Wash Your Hands & Wipe Your Feet (Help Your Parents by Being Neat) is such a cute little book. I have read it a few times and can't wait to read it to my daughter when she gets here in April. One of the things I really like about the book, is the moral of the story and how it teaches children to be helpful- and the book is inspired by a little dog which is always a key to my heart. This book is also quite unique because of the illustrations (not your typical drawings that you see in all children's book)!
