OXO Outdoor Santoku Knife with Locking Sheath - 5.5"

When it first arrived, I was anxious because I paid obnoxious amount of money ($20) for a single knife. (yes, that is a lot because you can get quality-ish sets of up to 5 knives for less than that elsewhere) The handle is bigger than usual knives, let alone a normal 5 inch santoku knife but it can be used even when the hands are wet because it is textured, so it is good. If you have too small hands it might be hard to carry it around. I first had difficulties justifying the price (because as I see it, it is just a single knife) and the fact that it has a sheath did not do enough for me, although it is handy for transport and I am glad it is there (there is also a lock to prevent sliding). The stainless steel metal part looked like metal colored plastic at first so I thought the quality was off too, very unexpected of Oxo. However, after I use it, I was pleasantly surprised, when angled right, it cuts very well, fits to my hand despite being long and very comfortable to do work. Interesting enough and I do not know if this was intended, I almost cut myself a few times and knife did not cut my hand due to the angle. But when angled right, it is very sharp to cut the object. So that is amazing and unexpected for me. Great buy in my opinion.

I purchased this for a college student who wanted to get off of the meal plan and cook more things for himself, rather than relying on the mass produced dormitory food. The one thing most dormant kitchens lack is a decent knife, and this one has proven itself again and again. Not only is the sheath handy for transporting it two and from his dorm room without slicing through his backpack, it is a great shape and size, extremely versatile, and has held an edge without sharpening for two semesters now. Definitely recommend for anyone on the go, or even for the home kitchen.

I really love this knife. Great for chopping and cutting. It comes it’s a locking cover. I like this for better storage in my drawer. I would buy again!

Bought this knife for my son to take to university. It’s not too small or too big. I love that the case has a locking latch. I liked it so much I looked to see if they make a small serrated paring type knife but they did not. One small serrated knife and this knife and that’s all you really need. Especially for dorm life!

Only day one but cuts tomatoes perfectly. Safe knife for camp with good sheath and blunt tip. If the edge is durable, then it will have been a good purchase

This Santoku knife is my favorite knife in the kitchen. The size is perfect, it fits in my hand like a glove and feels comfortable and well-balanced. The blade is sharp right out of the box and slices through vegetables, meat, and herbs with almost no effort. What I appreciate most is the control it provides. Whether I'm doing precise cuts or chopping a large batch of vegetables, the knife feels stable and natural to use. It's not too heavy and not too light, making it easy to work with for extended periods without hand fatigue. It's very well made, and the edge stays sharp even with regular use.
