The device you didn't know you might actually need!
Here in Ireland, same as UK, the virus friendly time of the year is just...all year. Kids were getting sick quite often and obviously, school and creche contribute to this massively. Then they happily pass it over to us and like in that GTA meme "here we go again". I'm pretty sure many people can relate. I've heard about these air purifiers, and although I heard great recommendations and feedback in this regard from people who are suffering from different allergies, I started to look around and research them a bit more for what they are actually capable off. I saw that this AEG air purifier, beside particulate matter, it is also certified to catch and kill certain viruses and bacteria like E.coli, some influenza, staphylococcus aureus, klepsiela pneumoniae, etc. with its HEPA filter setup. So I thought, why not? Listen, why not give it a go? We humans spend nowadays so much money on stuff we can barely call useful, if at all, but in this case you can potentially get great benefits. Clean water, air and good quality food are scientifically some of the top factors and great predictors of both longevity and quality of life. So far, in 3+ weeks, here are my observations: 1. Quiet indeed! On the very lowest fan setting, it is super quiet. You can barely hear it working, and it is super easy to sleep with it, even as a light sleeper as I am. If you need to vent your room really quick, you put it on the second or third speed. I'd say in about 15 minutes, you'll have an even, even a medium-sized room fully vented and fully cleared up. It is advertised to vent 10 m2 in about 11 minutes which sounds realistic and also suitable for quite large spaces of 41 m2. 2. Filtration. Obviously, in home conditions, to be able to check its efficiency microbiologically for bacteria and viruses, it is very hard. What comes to help here are oficial ISO certifications, which can't be taken out of the blue. But, at home, to be fair it can be judged just subjectively in this regard by observing how quickly the kids and we recover from being sick, or how colds and flus are maybe less spreading around to one or another member of the family. So far, very subjectively, my eldest son started to recover from a long, ongoing, what we believe is flu. Again, I won't pretend this device is the magic and is the only reason why this is happening. I mean, sooner or later, people recover from such cold and flus most of the time, even if you do nothing. Obviously, more time and observation is needed. Important to mention is that I know people who reported this devices being life changing in terms of allergies and relief they provide. People who have very heavy pollen allergies and are suffering a good chunk of a year reported being able to sleep at night and feeling a huge difference between their environment at home (where they aggressively filter the air almost all day) and how they feel when they get outside or even when they visit their friends. 3. Setup and AEG App. Setup super quick, straightforward and easy. Unboxed, bag off the filter, plugged in, downloaded the app - added your device and voila, it's ready to make your air cleaner. Literally few minutes. In terms of the application, super neat and tidy and it's very simple to operate. What I really like is the possibility to switch the device on and off remotely from the phone. It helps because when I put my kids to sleep and then I go down and I just remember that the device is off, I can open my phone and quickly switch it on without going back and risking to wake them up. This is simple but very convenient. Also, you got Tasks - which you can use basically to set up schedules, with time on and off, fan speed, specific days, etc. 4. Filters life & economy. In terms of filter life, I compared this one, AEG, with several other big brands like Levoit and Philips. Despite the filters being quite expensive for this one and more expensive than for other brands, the advertised lifetime for this purifiers filters is at least double the time. Should be 12 months vs 6 for others. When you adjust for that, it makes it quite a good deal and even cheaper in the long run. Not that filter life depends on the air quality in your home in general as well as amount of time that you keep it on. What's good from my research, this AEG won't shut off if by "end of life" filter notification you don't have a spare one - the purified will keep working while for some other brands they stop until you get the spare filter. Again, for me, I will see, actually, in practice how long it's going to live and will update here. In fairness, I don't keep it on all day. What I do most of the time is I open the windows to make sure there is fresh air in the room, and then I just put it down on the slowest settings during the night. This is my preferred approach. Also, I understood that it is quite good for odour removal. I haven't yet had an opportunity to try it out in this regard, but I am planning some repainting in the bathroom quite soon. I'll definitely try to put it on and see if it helps with removing the paint smell, not only during the painting but actually in the next several days, because fresh paint smells more than just a day. Well, if a good cabin filter inside my car, filters the exhaust smoke and smell behind diesel cars, than this, much more complex filter should do the job too. Generally, the purifiers integrated air quality sensor shows good quality air inside our house. Don't forget in the instructions you will need to periodically take out the sensor and wipe it so it provides accurate readings. I honestly think it can be very effective in areas where your air is of poor quality, with readings well beyond of PM2.5 in the air. In it's certified to filter viruses, then for particulate matter I have no doubts it's going to filter the air well. Saying that if, virus-wise and bacteria-wise, it's subjective in home conditions as you have no way to track it, then in terms of particulate matter in the air, it will be easy and straightforward to track as the sensor will show you the actual readings. In general, it gives you some peace of mind as you are doing something about the air you breathe in, similar to as when you drink filtered and not just tap water or when you know that you eat good food and not fast food. Yes, it's not a hover which you just cleaned the carpet and you see the result straight away, but honestly I think it does worth the investment in the long run. It works the same right, like I mentioned the water and food above - you don't feel the difference immediately and bad effects build up for years. But it's all until one day and when it comes - it's too late. Don't wanna finish on a sad note haha. Oh this review took me some time, but I hope it helps a bit! Cheers

A good purchase
My wife was having real problems with an irritating cough at home, I vape indoors but I was careful to always air the house out, or so I thought. We've had this purifier for around two weeks now and the difference was immediate! The fan is loud at its maximum speed but no louder than some tower fans I've used, and generally in operation it's whisper quiet. Setup was easy, the instructions are clear and the app makes managing schedules or simply turning the fan down if something's offended it is a really nice quality of life feature. It easily handles the whole of our living room and kitchen (approximately 45 sq metres), removing particulates and pollutants from the air in a matter of minutes. Filters are quite pricey compared to other similarly priced units, but overall it's a good deal. It's compact enough to sit in a corner and not intrude upon the space, and the design is very pleasing and minimalist. I'd definitely recommend to anyone!

Decent AP
Bought two in a rush due to newly installed neighbour's wood burner poisoning the neighborhood. Expected to use 1 in extended lounge, 1 in bedroom. Turns out required both in lounge and bought a Philips 600 in white which better suited the bedroom. These look great in the lounge, one in extension, cool and freshen the air, smells disappear after cooking, no more dog smells etc when it's now impossible to open the windows and should work great with our portable AC in the summer to provide cool fresh air in a stuffy bungalow. Auto function works well and nice to have sensors which graph in the app and cause fans to kick in on detecting higher particulate levels. Bit noisy on full belt, but shift some air. Middle setting sits in the background with TV on and a couple of people in the room. Smaller Philips seems better suited to bedroom due to quieter low fan. Paid 110 each for these and 80 for the Philips to cover three decent sized rooms. Replacement filters seem reasonable at ยฃ25 in sale

Seems fresher alreadyโฆ
Fantastic product! Very silent when on #1 setting, actually donโt know that itโs on. Easy to set up via AEG app. Connects via Bluetooth. Looks very good in the room and not too big. Easy to use both manually and via the app. Does have a smart auto mode. Purchased it to keep the air purer in a house with dogs and cats. Havenโt used it for sleeping yet but will see how it goes. Overall a great product

Easy to use with efficient air cleaning
Was concerned at being able to connect to my WiFi, as reviewers of this and other similar items have mentioned. No problem for my network, which uses a dual concurrent 2.4 & 5ghz signal - good, as some products donโt like that and want 2.4ghz only. The app is simple and responsive (iOS) with PM2.5 monitoring, fan and mode control and also works when youโre not connected to your home network, which may be useful for some. It also has graphing and history. The unit itself is nicely weighty (not overly so) and attractive in a darker colour than the usual white units. Itโs well built and sturdy. The simple control panel on the top is nice too, with icons and buttons lighting up through the plastic, rather than a standard screen. Touch control is responsive. In operation, the unit is very quiet for the majority of the time (if youโre running it in Smart mode) and only ramps up the fan when it detects a change in air quality. Once it gets to a satisfactory level again it spins them down to a very slow speed which you can only barely hear if close to it. The filter is quite large, so should last a good while in an average setting. The app advises you of its lifespan as a percentage - presumably tied to the PM2.5 numbers it monitors.

Within half an hour the air felt lighter and fresher
I was find it harder to breath In the winter months with the dampness of condensation and mould so I though I would invest in this product. Within half an hour the air felt lighter and fresher. It also works well in the warmer months as it sends out cool air. Always interesting to see the dirt on the filter. You really feel like you have captured the nasty stuff.

Unbelievably silence and effective
We bought this for our bedroom as one sunny morning i could see lot of particals in the air which was shocking. i used to have Sharp and it was brilliant but noisy - so i was expecting the same however it was way too silent , have smart feature which controls the fan as per the air quality and have sensor to tell you the air quality - red, purple, yellow, white etc To give you an example milkshake was dropped on the floor and it flood room with all milk odor and instantly this air purifier sensor turned Blue so it does work Initial thought its too silent to even be effective or is it even working? so one morning i tested it when we had some sunlight and usual particles were visible - 10 min and 90% of it was gone so - wow ... Well done AEG - i am yet to connect to the mobiel to test of the app
