Very pleased with the quality and performance so far. Easy to set up and use. Have played DVDs and Blu-Rays from different regions and zones without any difficulty or problems, and the picture and sound quality are excellent. Connected directly to my TV for now. The seller delivered promptly and well-packaged in original box with all paperwork and accessories needed to operate, including simple additional instructions for different disc formats. Will update my review as time goes on and I try out more features and discs (have also played DVD-R's), but for now am enjoying the player and impressed with its versatility.

Planning for the inevitable future TV upgrade, I bought this region free Sony UHD/blu ray player. Set up was very easy and it plays my standard blu rays and DVDs beautifully on my existing HD TV. I even had one UHD disc (that came with a standard blu ray release) and it plays seemlessly. I even have some region B blu rays which again played seemlessly. As with all of the region free blu ray players, DVDs automatically switch to the proper region but you must use your remote to manually switch blu ray regions before inserting the disc. I purchased this from 220 Electronics which guarantees region free operation. These players from this vendor are made region free by a hardware modification while some other vendors only use a software modification.

Review for the Sony Region Free UBP-X800 from bombay electronics. I've had this for a couple weeks from bombay electronics and it plays region 2 Blu rays perfectly. The lazy or stupid people that gave it bad reviews do not know how to read or follow the instuctions. It's simple: 1. Make sure there are no DVD or Blu Ray in the tray. 2. Turn the power button OFF. 3. Press the color button on the remote for the region you want to play. This turns the power back ON and you are ready to put a Blu Ray back in machine to play. If you have turned the power button on your system back on during this process you have done it wrong. For dvd's it plays everything without any problems. The picture quality is outstanding on this player as anyone owning Sony players should already know. I didn't and do not plan on updating firmware as if it ain't broke don't try to fix it. When I turned it on the first time I skipped setting up WiFi and then later chose an option to never upgrade firmware automatically. It couldn't really since it doesn't have my WiFi settings but just another step to ensure there is no auto update.

All regions DVD player & it works! The remote is functional & easier to use than most, especially changing audio & subtitles. Playing discs from different is clumsy: insert the disc, get an error message, turn the player off & then on again. And make sure the player isn’t in fast start-up mode. But it does play discs from all regions. Films that are only available outside the USA can be played (for example, the BFI restoration of Abel Gance’s ‘Napoleon’). Overall, this was a good purchase.

Outstanding. I received the unit very quickly. Opened the box, everything packed correctly and everything included. Set up was easy. HDMI, power. The picture is unbelievable... and this unit is not even on our best TV. But that's a different story. Put in Gladiator Bluray - awesome. Put in Peaky Blinders Bluray from the UK - awesome. Meets and exceeds all expectations. I will be buying another for the best TV. Now, the Region 0 hack, here's what I know about it... if you search online you can find several sites that will give you the technique to reset the region for many players to whatever region you want. Or to region 0 which means it will play all discs. There you go. I don't consider this a hack, just a selection the manufacturer did not want users to access - hence the "hack". Now after about 6 months of use I'll let you know what's going on but I expect no problems as we have used Sony players for several years without any issues. Long story short, have no fear buying this player IMO.

This player does everything the seller advertises. Really region-free, plays anything! 4K, Blu-ray, DVD from all zones all regions. Remarkable! When I travel, I would buy my old time favourite movies whenever I bump into a disc shop. End up couldn't playing many of them as I had no clue about zoning / region restrictions. (Bought discs mainly from Australia and UK. I live in Malaysia.) I was just browsing for a disc player on Amazon and came across this Sony UBP-X800M2. After reading the many reviews, I thought I'd give it a try. I have been using it for a week now. I can tell you, it really works! Now I won't have to worry about where I buy / order discs from. Plus the picture quality is so clear. Wish I knew about such a disc player earlier. Great investment! No regrets!

Nothing but problems. Had two 4k movies stop playing half way through, both brand new discs. And now it won't play a region 1 bluray which my old cheap player plays fine, also a new disc. It says region incompatible even though I bought the region free version of this player just so I wouldn't have this problem. Worst money I ever spent.

It worked just fine for a few months, but the machine's main menu has completely disappeared. When I hit the "Home" button on the remote, the screen goes blank and I wait forever and nothing happens -- no main menu ever comes up. Unfortunately, the main menu is the only way to select inputs. So my player is now permanently stuck on the "Disc" input -- which is the best possible input to be stuck on. But I sure miss being able to watch files on USB. The USB option is completely inaccessible now. I've tried everything. Very disappointing.

Pide X800M2. Hasta ahora funciona muy bien. Viene con un control remoto Sony original. El cable HDMI incluido es de alta velocidad. No es premium ni ultra. No es necesario cambiar de región para los DVD. Los Blu-ray son manuales, pero la caja incluye instrucciones en inglés. UHD, Blu-ray de Región A. Los DVD se reprodujeron sin problemas en NTSC Regiones 1, 2 y 4, y en PAL Región 2. No he probado otras regiones.

I have bought 2 of these players from Bombay Electronics and on both occasions received the newer M2 model that includes Dolby vision. Both players have worked flawlessly with regular use (daily to weekly). Well built. In my view the best player available for those who need multiregion. The Dolby vision is either on or off, rather than auto detect. In the forums it's suggested to toggle Dolby vision off for 4k discs that don't support Dolby vision, so they will play in HDR 10. I have been watching Star wars and have made it through IV, V, VI, I and II and have struggled to see a difference between Dolby vision on and off on these discs that do not support Dolby vision. Some of the colours are possibly brighter with Dolby vision off, but I think unnaturally so. Watched Joker 4k Bluray yesterday which supports Dolby vision (with Dolby vision toggled on) and it looks incredible. Also love Dolby Atmos sound through my home cinema. I'd highly recommend this player if you want a great 4k Bluray experience and need multiregion.

La verdad es exelente lo recomiendo mucho Lee mis películas sobre todo mi DVD que pedí de España PAL ya que tengo DVD varios reproductores y ninguno los Lee. UBP X800M2 es lo mejor y sobretodo es multiregion calidad de imagen sonido puse mi DVD 4K ultra HD exelente yo lo recomiendo mucho gracias Amazon
